Abstract

A System and Method for Power Bank Sharing and Rental Abstract According to the LG US survey data, 90% of mobile device users are always in an uncomfortable situation whenever battery level of their mobile devices is less than 20%. 32% of the respondents of the survey indicate that they will stop using their mobile decvices and recharge the mobile devices immediately when the battery is getting too low. Also, 410% of the respondents affirm that their major concern regarding the low battery level is missing phone calls. 17% of the male respondents state that they usually miss their appointments made through phone applications. The Power Bank Sharing and Rental System (PBSRS), developing a shared mobile devices power bank rental system, focuses on solving the issues in respect of low battery level of the mobile devices, which is potentially capable of causing a series of negative impacts on the mobile device users. The system is developed by setting up power bank station in spots to which users can easily access by using the GPS maps. Through the Power Bank Sharing and Rental Sytem phone application, users can unlock the power bank from the power bank station by either one of three methods, including Bluetooth, Short Message Service (SMS) based on Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), and cellular network (4G). At the same time, users can return the rented power bank to any nearby power bank station. Description

Description
These days, the smart phone and other mobile device has become an irreplaceable communication and entertainment tools in our life. People are so dependent on their mobile devices to the extent that they cannot withstand any form of power deficiency.
The emergence of power bank is a creative invention aimed at proffering solutions to this worrisome situation. However, the users of this power bank also need to charge the power bank to the fullest capacity to enable it meets the power consumption of their mobile phones; otherwise, they can only endure the dilemma of the power failure on mobile devices or repurchase another charger. Tately, the inventor has developed a new
Power Bank Sharing and Rental System (PBSRS) to solve this challenging situation.
This rental system can proffer solutions to the user's smart phone ‘power crisis’ thus alleviating or even fundamentally solve the problem that the user has to carry the personal power bank at all times. The advantages of this invention are not only limited to providing a mobile charging solution, but also reducing the pollution from lithium batteries and the waste of resources.
Users can rent a power bank by enabling a connection between the mobile device and the power bank station/hardware device of the Power Bank Sharing and Rental System.
In the same way, other users can continue to rent the power bank and start charging when it is successfully returned.
2018101370 18 Sep 2018
There are mainly there components in the Power Bank Sharing and Rental System: the hardware - Power bank station and power banks, the software - mobile device application, and the cloud server system/operation platform.
The mobile device terminal software system includes real-time maps showing nearby power bank stations, enable the users to borrow and return the power bank, make payments, manage account, contact customer service, etc.
The hardware system includes the main control module of the power bank station which includes the operation of locking and unlocking the power banks and the communication module of the Internet of Things.
The cloud server system/operation platform, being the control centre of the whole
Power Bank Sharing and Rental System, processes the requests from users and responses them correspondently. The cloud server also controls the built-in main board of the power bank station through the Internet of Things (IoT).
The Internet of Things (IoT) consists of three modes: Bluetooth wireless network, short message service based on Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) and 4G
2018101370 18 Sep 2018 telecommunication network.
Figure 1: Power bank station with the Bluetooth module (through the Bluetooth wireless network to achieve communication).
The built-in main control board is mainly used for the operation and maintenance of the power bank station and the renting of power banks. Each smart power bank station contains a Bluetooth module which can communicate with users’ mobile device.
The mobile device is equivalent to a data transfer station. The power bank station communicates with the mobile device through Bluetooth, and the mobile device communicates with the cloud server through the network to achieve the communication between the cloud server and the power bank station.
Figure 2: Power bank station with GSM Short Message Service (SMS) .
The built-in main control board is mainly used for the operation and maintenance of the power bank station and the renting of power banks. Each power bank station consists of a GSM communication module which can communicate directly with cloud server through SMS based on GSM module. When the user needs to borrow, the mobile device terminal application sends instructions to the server, then the server sends instructions to the power bank station directly after receiving them, implementing the

Figure 3: Power bank station with 4G telecommunication network module
The built-in main control board is mainly used for the operation and maintenance of the power bank station and the renting of power banks. Each power bank station contains a 4G telecommunication network module which allows the direct communication between the cloud server and the power bank station.
When the user needs to borrow, the mobile device application will send instructions to the server, then the server sends instructions to the station directly after receiving them, implementing the control of the hardware terminal.
Additionally, the power bank station consist of the built-in Access Point Name (APN),
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) industrial modules, and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) remote upgrade protocols, which provide global network communications and online upgrade related services.
Figure 4: The mobile device terminal software system (application).
Users can download the application from the App stores such as the iOS App Store and
Google Play, after which the user can use the software to search nearby power bank stations, rent and return the power bank, and make a payment for the rent.

Figure 5: The overall interaction framework of the Power Bank Sharing and Rental
System.
The user interacts with the mobile device application (software).
The mobile device application communicates with the cloud server through the network.
The cloud server communicates with the power bank station through three different communication methods (Bluetooth, SMS and 4G).
Figure 6: Processes for power bank renting by users
Users can search and find the nearest power bank station in the application. When nearby the power bank station, users’ mobile devices are connected to the power bank station utilizing Bluetooth identification, QR code scanning and inputting the power bank station identification code.
When renting, users need to click the rental button in the application. The cloud server will verify the identity of the users as well as the payment information. Afterwards, the unlock instructions will be sent to the power bank station.
Upon a rented power bank being inserting into the power bank station, the cloud server will receive the return information from the power bank station, stop charging and send
2018101370 18 Sep 2018 bill to users through the mobile device application.
