Description
TITLE: LOCKING DEVICE
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (a) Technical Field of the Invention
The present invention is generally related to locking device, and more particular to a locking device that may distribute external impact.
(b) Description of the Prior Art
Locking devices, such as electromagnetic locks, electronic locks, electrically controlled locks, are commonly applied in public areas, households, offices to prevent theft and unauthorized access. For these locking devices, the electromagnetic valve is a key component.
R. O. C. Taiwan Patent No. M330337, titled “Adjustment structure for open/close status of electromagnetic lock,” teaches an electromagnetic valve, as illustrated in its FIG 2, having a block selectively retracted into a lock body by the conduction of the electromagnetic valve.
According to this teaching, the block is designed to sustain force from only a single side. When the electromagnetic valve is conducted (or not), a latch bolt on the door is fixed in its place, thereby locking the door. A drawback of this teaching is that, when the door is under external force or impact (e.g., the door is manually pushed), the block undergoes force from one side. The lock as a whole would suffer uneven or imbalanced stress. After
2018101170 15 Aug 2018 a period of usage, the components of the lock would be worn off, displaced, or deformed, reducing the operation life of the lock.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The following descriptions are exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a locking device 600 according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a main member 1, a base 2, an electromagnetic valve 3, a lock assembly 4, and a cover plate 5.
The main member 1 provides an accommodation space 10. A frame 11 is extended from the main member 1. The frame 11 has a channel 12 connecting the accommodation space 10. The channel 12 is for a latch bolt to pass through. Two positioning elements 13 are provided to a top side and a bottom side of the accommodation space 10. Two second positioning elements 14 are provided to a lateral side of the positioning elements 13, respectively. In the present embodiment, the two positioning elements 13 are screw holes and the two second positioning elements 14 are indentations, blind holes, or preferably
2018101170 15 Aug 2018 via holes.
Aback side of the base 2 has two third positioning elements 21 for joining with two holes 15 on a back side of the main member 1. In the present embodiment, the third positioning elements 21 are via holes, and bolts may be run through the third positioning elements 21 into the holes 15. The base 2 has a first lateral section 22 and a second lateral section 23 extended towards a front direction. A first opening 24 and a second opening 25 are respectively configured on the first and second lateral sections 22 and 23.
The electromagnetic valve 3 includes an axial shaft 31 controlled by the 10 electromagnetic valve 3 and having its two ends extended outside a top end and a bottom end of the electromagnetic valve 3. The two ends of the shaft 31 run through the first and second openings 24 and 25 of base 2, respectively. Therefore, the electromagnetic valve 3 is held between the first and second lateral sections 22 and 23. The electromagnetic valve 3 itself is wider than the first and second openings 24 and 25, and therefore would not fall off from the base 2. Two first rings 32 surround the exposed top end of the shaft 31, and two second rings 33 surround the exposed bottom end of the shaft 31.
The lock assembly 4 includes an elongated lock element 41 and an axle 42. A first extension piece and a second extension piece 43 and 44 are extended laterally from the lock element 41 and pin-connected to the axle 42.
2018101170 15 Aug 2018
The axle’s two ends are rotatably joined with the two second positioning elements 14 of the main member 1, respectively. The lock element 41 as such may be turned relative to the axle 42 into the accommodation space 10. A torsion spring 700 may be configured on the axle 42. The torsion spring 700’s two ends may be fixed to any two places inside the main member 1 or other components of the locking device 600. Then, when the lock element 41 is not forced into the accommodation space 10, the torsion spring 700 may restore the lock element 41 automatically
The cover plate 5 has an indentation 51, a first fastener 52, and a second fastener 53. A first piece 54 and a second piece 55 are provided above and below the indentation 51, respectively Along a top edge of the first piece 54 and a bottom edge of the second piece 55, there are a first notch 56 and a second notch 57, respectively, for fastening the cover plate 5 to a side of the accommodation space 10 by applying the first and second fasteners 52 and 53 to the positioning elements 13. In the present embodiment, the first and second fasteners 52 and 53 are screws. The indentation 51 is for receiving a latch bolt.
Also on the shaft 31 and respectively beneath the first rings 32 and above the second rings 33, there are a first clamping element 34 and a second clamping element 35 so that the electromagnetic valve 3 may be more reliably fixed to the first and second lateral sections 22 and 23, and the shaft 31 may be
2018101170 15 Aug 2018 more precisely and smoothly controlled.
The locking device 600 further includes a detection element 6, a detection switch 7, and a switch base 8. A fourth positioning element 81, which may be a hole, is configured on the switch base 8. The detection switch 7 is fixed by adhesion or fastening to the switch base 8. Through the fourth positioning element 81, the switch base 8 is fixed to a screw hole 100 in the accommodation space 10, and therefore the switch base 8 and the detection switch 7 are both inside the accommodation space 10. The detection element 6 includes a rod 61 and a block 62 is configured at least at a top end of the rod
61. The rod 61 is rotatably and vertically mounted in the accommodation space 10 so that the detection element 6 is received in the indentation 51 and the block 62 selectively presses a button 71 of the detection switch 7. The rod 61 is positioned by the first and second pieces 54 and 55 and therefore does not fall off from the accommodation space 10. In the present embodiment, when a latch bolt of a door falls into the indentation 51 and touches the detection element 6, the rod 61 is turned and the block 62 presses the button 71 of the detection switch 7, thereby detecting that the door is properly closed.
Preferably, the locking device 600 further includes a second cover plate 9 with a third opening 200 and a fourth opening 300. The first and second fasteners 52 and 53 run through the third and fourth openings 200 and 300,
2018101170 15 Aug 2018 respectively, so as to fix the second cover plate 9 to the main member 1. In the present embodiment, the second cover plate 9 with additional holes 91 and 92 allows the locking device 600 to be conveniently installed on a door frame.
As shown in FIGS. 3 to 6, the locking device 600 of the present 5 embodiment is installed on a door frame 400 for locking a door 500. A prior art latch bolt 502 is provided on the door 500. Through a handle 501 of the door 500, the door 500 is closed to the door frame 400, as shown in FIG 3. In the meantime, the latch bolt 502 is embedded into the locking device 600, as shown in FIG 4. In the present embodiment, in order to form a locked state between the door 500 and the door frame 400, conductive or control wires may be used to connect an external power source to the electromagnetic valve 3 so that the shaft 31 may linearly displace as the electromagnetic valve 3 is powered on or off. In the present embodiment, when the electromagnetic valve 3 is powered on, the top end of the shaft 31 is retracted whereas the bottom end of the shaft 31 is extended. As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the shaft is also moved upward (but is not limited as such). As such, the first rings 32 and the second rings 33 are moved upward and detachably pressed against the first and second extension pieces 43 and 44 to fix the lock element 41. As the latch bolt 502 is extended into the locking device 600, the lock element 41 therefore may lock the latch bolt 502, thereby achieving the locked state
2018101170 15 Aug 2018 between the door 500 and the door frame 400.
Then, when the door 500 and the door frame 400 are in the locked state, external impact (e.g., manual push) to the door 500 is evenly distributed between the first and second rings 32 and 33, and the first and second extension pieces 43 and 44. The locking device 600 is therefore more robust structurally, preventing structural deformation and displacement, and prolonging the locking device 600’s operation life.
As shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, it is also possible to have the first rings 32 and the second rings 33 moved downward and detachably pressed against the first and second extension pieces 43 and 44 to fix the lock element 41 (i.e., the shaft 31 has its top end retracted and the bottom end extended), for greater flexibility.
While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the claims of the present invention.
