Abstract

Abstract A floating wave energy conversion (WEC) system 1 that has greater flexibility to operate in a variable wave amplitude and tidal difference, that may be in shallow or deep-water body 2. The WEC comprises of a surface floating buoy 3, a column buoy 6 tethered with tension legs from seabed anchors 6.2, and a column pump resting unto the column buoy and actuated by the surface floating buoy through a tether connection. The WEC operates autonomously and remotely, and has the flexibility to compensate against the varying wave amplitude in normal and extreme weather conditions, to maintain the rated pump delivery and to mitigate the WEC from storm damage. The column pump assembly 5 is free from the seabed anchor connections, thus easier to retrievable from the surface for maintenance or replacement.
