Abstract
It is a user manual application for the products, which have unique Code Number. This app is named as DIGITAL USER MANUAL (DUM). We buy many products for our day to day use and we try hard to keep User Manuals, Warranty cards, and Guarantee cards safe, but still, we lose them. And sometimes it is very difficult to read and understand printed assembly drawing of the product. If a person is using DUM application, he/she just need to enter the specific Code Number of the product given by the manufacturers to access information of the product. Which includes a digital user manual, Guarantee cards, Warranty cards, purchased receipts, related videos - how to assemble/dismantle; how to maintain the product well. By this way, the user can access data even after years by entering the product Code Number. This helps manufacturers to save paper and printing costs on millions of products. Hence we can save this planet by avoiding paper manuals.

Every day millions of products are been manufactured all over the world along with millions of paper user manuals, guarantee cards, and warranty cards. Just imagine how many tons of paper being used for producing paper manuals for all the products. For example, One X-named phone Company has sold 1 billion units until 2017, with 1 billion paper user manuals. This is only a single product, just imagine all the products in the world using paper manuals. One tree makes 16.67 reams of copy paper or 8333.3 sheets, for 1 billion sheets we need 120,000 trees to cut down. NOTE: This calculation is only for one single product.
Secondly, manufacturers can reduce significant costs on their product by digitizing user manuals. Apart from above, manufacturers can upload only one digital information (which includes a user manual, Videos, Audios, Guarantee cards, warranty cards) for millions of similar products under one Code Number of the product rather than printing millions of paper user manuals for every unit.
Thirdly, it is very convenient for a user to accesses information of the product anywhere and anytime by just entering the Code Number of the product through DUM Application.
Working principle:
The manufacturer has to make a DUM (Digital User Manual) under Code Number of the product. When a customer purchases a product with DUM. He has to download DUM Application and register himself/herself. Then the user has to enter the Code Number of the product to get accesses to the information saved/created by the manufacturers. By this way, the user can access all the information in the user manual along with guarantee & warranty cards, video and audio of the product. And the user can upload scanned/photo of the purchased receipt under the product Code Number for future reference.
Disadvantages of Paper Manuals. • We are deforesting our only planet by producing tons of paper in which a part is used for producing paper manuals. • Manufacturing companies have to spend money on printing paper manuals. • Paper manuals cannot convey their message through video. Hence sometimes it is difficult for a user to read and understand the paper user manual, especially if there are any assembly drawings. • There is a risk of losing paper user manual, guarantee card, and warranty card over the time. 2017100827 22 Jun2017
Advantages of DUM (Digital User Manual) • We can reduce greenhouse gases by stop producing paper manuals. • As the information is stored under one Code Number of the product, the user can access the information whenever he needed by logging in DUM application. There is no risk of losing important documents like guarantee and warranty cards. • Manufacturers can create only once DUM for a product, instead of producing millions of paper manuals for every single product. • It is very convenient for a user to watch a video related to how to use and maintenance the product rather than reading page by page of the paper user manual. • The user can scan or take pictures of the receipt of the purchased product and can save under Code Number in DUM application. • If a user has 10 different products with DUM, then the user can access user manuals for all 10 products through DUM application. • In the case of any maintenance problem with the product the user can login in into DUM application and directly upload his/her problems under the respective product Code Number, thereby the manufacturers/service centers can rectify the problem immediately and correctly. This will eliminate communication gaps between the manufacturer-supplier/seller AND Supplier/Seller - User. Since all the information is under Code Number the manufacturers can able to access guarantee and warranty cards directly.

- CLAIMS My claims are as follows:-1. Accessing product information digitally which includes User Manual; Guarantee cards; Warranty Cards, videos, audios and Purchase receipt of the product by using a code number.
- 2. An application which stores all the information of the product including user manual, Guarantee & Warranty cards, videos, audios and purchase receipt of the product under one code number.
- 3. The user can upload the purchased recipes by scanning them or by taking pictures of it under respective code numbers of the products. So that all the information from the manufacturer and the purchased receipts are stored under same code number.
- 4. This application helps the user to get access User Manual; Guarantee cards; Warranty Cards, videos, audios and Purchase receipt digitally of his/her purchased products by entering the code number in DUM application.
- 5. The user can only access information of the product by logging in through DUM application and entering the code number.
- 6. In the case of maintenance or problem with the product, the user can login into DUM (Digital User Manual) Application and upload his/her issues, which can be directly accessed by the manufacturer/service centers and can respond to those issues.
