Abstract
It is a Life-saving tube (named: Life Belt), which is belted at the waist. It consists of an inflatable tube, carbon dioxide canister (with push-button mechanism), red light torch and a whistle. All these equipment are mounted on a synthetic rubber belt. This Life Belt is mainly designed for the people who love water sports. Many people do not wear life jackets in water because it obstructs the natural movement. Since Life Belt is belted at the waist, people will have no difficulty in swimming with it. Life Belt can be used as safety belts in an airline industry, because it is light in weight, compact, not bulky looking and easy to operate ( no ropes/strings to pull). LIFE BELT
Life Belt is a device, which can be used in emergency situations in water.
According to National Drowning Report 2015, 271 people has drowned in Australia between 01 July 2014 to 30 June 2015. Which could have been saved if they would have been swimming with lifejackets. The main reason people avoid wearing life jackets because they look bulky and it's not comfortable to swim with.
But this Life Belt is very comfortable and very easy to use. You can wear it, the same way as you wear your waist belt. And in an emergency, with the push of a single button, the belt turns into a Life Belt. As soon as you push the button the tube attached to the belt inflates around your waist. By loosening the belt, the tube automatically comes to your chest level (under you arms), due to buoyant force of the water. Then you can access other instruments which are fitted with a whistle, red light torch, and white smoke, which can be used to get the attention of other nearby people.
Drawbacks with the life jackets: • It's bulky and noticeable. Hence swimmers try to avoid while swimming. • It's uncomfortable to perform any water sports, like swimming. • In an emergency, it's really difficult to accesses the ropes to inflate. Especially if you are underwater.
Advantages of Life Belt: • Life Belt is not bulky. Hence it is not noticeable as like other life jackets. • Very easy to use. There are no ropes to pull. This will give an advantage over life jackets. When a person hits the surface of water or loses his/her balance and struggles to float, at this point of time arms will try to balance your body. In this panic situation, one has to find the ropes and pull it down. Since life jackets ropes are not stable under the water due to water currents and rigorous body movements, there is a chance of not finding rope quickly (which is a very critical moment). Since life belt is firmly belted above the waist, one can find the button easily and quickly, thereby increasing the chance of survival. • Very comfortable to wear around the waist. It's like wearing any other waist belts. People do not hesitate to wear them all the time on beaches because it will not interfere with any of movements/actions of the swimmer/sports person in the water or on land. • Since the tube is under the arms, it will not block the view, and one can move head/neck easily. 2017100577 21 May 2017
Where Life Belt can be used: • This is for people who love to swim in the ocean (open water), which includes professionals and casual swimmers. • This is for people who love to go to deep water pools, lakes, and rivers. • This life belt can replace life jackets in planes.
Reason: All the passengers are asked to wear a life jacket in the unlikely events. In those situations, if the plane is in very unstable condition (rolling ), it's very hard to take out the life jackets which are under the seats and wear them correctly.
If life jackets in the planes are replaced with Life Belts, it will be much easier for the passengers to use them. Airlines have to make it compulsory for all passengers to wear Life Belts after boarding the plane. Since it not bulky as life jackets in the planes and it will not disturb any movements/activities while on the plane, except in using toilets. Passengers won't feels uncomfortable as it is very easy to remove and wear it back. This Life Belt will be one of the parts of their body until they board out of the flight.
In the unlikely events, even if the plane is rolling in the sky, passengers have to sit tight. Once the plane hit the waters they have to make their way clear/out and press the button.
Claims (5)
- CLAIMES My claims are as follows:- 1) A safety equipment belt (Life Belt), which consists of an inflatable tube which is attached to a belt and on the same belt carbon dioxide/non flammable gasses canister and other instruments like a whistle, red light torch, and white smoke canister are mounted.
- 2) A waist belt turns into a tube filled with carbon dioxide/non flamale gasses with the help of canister, which is mounted on the belt.
- 3) The tube is inflated by push button mechanisum as displayed on the drawing.
- 4) The position of the belt will be around the waist, before inflation and after inflation, it will turn into a tube at the same position, and by losing the belt, the tube moves towards the chest level under armpits, by the buoyant force of the water bellow the tube.
- 5) Mechanisum :- The way canister is beeing punchured.
