Description

CONTAINER DOOR SEAL ENHANCING MECHANISM AND DRY BULK CONTAINER
HAVING THE SAME
BACKGROUND [0001] The present invention relates to the field of containers, and especially to a container door seal enhancing mechanism and a dry bulk container having the same.
[0002] Figs. 1 to 3 schematically illustrate the sealing manner of the door end of the dry bulk container in prior art. The dry bulk container 100 comprises a door end, the door end comprises a first door leaf 110, a second door leaf 120 and a door frame. The first door leaf 110 is connected to the door frame, and the second door leaf 120 is connected to the door frame. The door frame comprises a door header, a door corner post 160 and a door sill 191. Two ends of the door corner post 160 are connected to the door header and the door sill 191. The first door leaf 110 is fixed and connected with the left door comer post 160, and the second door leaf 120 is fixed and connected with the right door comer post 160. The joint of the first door leaf 110 with the door comer post 160 has a gap, and the joint of the first door leaf 110 with the door sill 191 has a gap. The joint of the second door leaf 120 with the door comer post 160 has a gap, and the joint of the second door leaf 120 with the door sill 191 has a gap. The joint of the first door leaf 110 with the second door leaf 120 has a gap, and a door gasket 130 seals the gaps.
[0003] As shown in Figs. 1-3, the seal of the door end of current ordinary dry bulk container is usually achieved by door gasket mounted onto the door leaf. The door gasket mounted onto the door leaf can prevent rainfall outside the container from seeping into the container, and such a seal stmcture can also play a sealing role in preventing leakage for the cargo of larger particles and poor flowability. But such a seal stmcture can not provide a good effect in sealing against leakage for the cargo within the container of smaller particles and/or greater flowability. It is not possible to prevent the cargo from leaking out of the container along the door gap, especially leaking from the door gap (for example, the door gap formed by a single door, or the door gap formed by double hinged doors) and from the gap below the door at the door end of the dry bulk container.

seal enhancing mechanism according to the present invention. In this first embodiment, the members corresponding to the BACKGROUND are the same in reference numerals, except that the first digit is changed from 1 to 2.
[0075] As shown in Fig.4, the dry bulk container 200 comprises a door end, and the door end comprises a first door leaf 210, a second door leaf 220 and a door frame. The first door leaf 210 is connected to the door frame, and the second door leaf 220 is connected to the door frame. The door frame comprises a door header, a door corner post 260 and a door sill 291, and two ends of the door corner post 260 are connected to the door header and the door sill 291. The first door leaf 210 is fixed and connected with the left door comer post 260, and the second door leaf 220 is fixed and connected with the right door corner post 260. The joint of the first door leaf 210 with the door corner post 260 has a gap, and the joint of the second door leaf 220 with the door corner post 260 has a gap. The joint of the first door leaf 210 with the second door leaf 220 has a gap, and the joints of the first door leaf 210 and the second door leaf 220 with the door sill 291 have gaps. The door gasket 230 seals the gaps. As such, it is possible to prevent the cargo of larger particles and poor flowability from leaking from the door gap at the door end of the dry bulk container.
[0076] Specifically, as shown in Fig.5, the door gap baffle 240 is fixed and connected with the door comer post 260, and the door gap baffle 240 has a protmsion 270 and a cross bar 280 extending horizontally along the door leaf. The door gasket 230 seals the gap between the first door leaf 210 and the door comer post 260. The door gasket 230 seals the gap between the first door leaf 210 and the door sill (not shown), the gap between the second door leaf 220 and the door comer post 260, and the gap between the second door leaf 220 and the door sill (not shown). The protmsion 270 is close to the door gasket 230, and the cross bar 280 is close to the first door leaf 210 or the second door leaf 220. The distance from the edge of the protmsion 270 to the outside of the door leaf is less than the distance from the inner wall of the door leaf to the outside of the door leaf. The meaning of the expression close to the door gasket in the present invention can be approach the door gasket, and can also be abut closely against the door gasket”. The door gap baffle of such a construction may seal the gap below the door, and it may be at the connection end of the door leaf of a single door (i.e., the end connected to the container body). At the same time, the first door leaf 210 has a
DD/MM/YY-Version

first end 211, and the second door leaf 220 has a second end 221 opposite to the first end 211. The outside-the-door baffle 250 is provided at an outer end of one of the first and second ends 211, 221, and extends toward the other of the first and second ends 211, 221. When the first and second door leaves 210, 220 are in the closed state, the outside-the-door baffle 250 contacts the first and second ends 211, 221 respectively, so as to seal the door intermediate gap between the first and second door leaves 210, 220.
[0077] The skilled in this art would be clear that the door gap baffle 240 may be made of plastics, aluminum or steel, and the door gap baffle 240 may be formed by a profile, a forging piece, a bending piece or soldering, and correspondingly, the door leaf provided with such an outside-the-door baffle 250 should be the one of the two door leaves required to be closed firstly, in this way, the two leaves can be closed smoothly. If the door leaf provided with the outside-the-door baffle 250 is not closed firstly, the other door leaf will interfere with the outside-the-door baffle 250 when closed such that the door leaf can not be closed.
[0078] As shown in Fig. 6 which is a front view of the door gap baffle, the door gap baffle 240 is configured to be a shape of plate. As shown in Fig.7 which is a top view of the door gap baffle, the door gap baffle 240 has a protrusion 270 and a cross bar 280 provided vertically at the bottom of the protrusion 270, and the protrusion 270 is close to the door gasket (not shown). The door gap baffle may be transversely provided at the lower part of the door frame, and it may also be vertically provided at the lower part of the door frame; and it may also follows that the door gap baffle located at the first door leaf is transversely provided at the lower part of the door frame, and that the door gap baffle located at the second door leaf is vertically provided at the lower part of the door frame, according to the specific circumstances.
[0079] As shown in Fig. 8, the door gap baffle of the present embodiment comprises an extension portion 290 provided in the height direction of the door leaf. The skilled in this art should appreciate that the length of the extension portion 290 may be set as needed. When the door gap needs to be better sealed, the length of the extension portion 290 may extend upward from the bottom of the door leaf to the upper part of the door leaf, or alternatively, may be set to be equal to the height of the door leaf, that is, the length of the extension portion 290 is set to be the height of the door leaf. Of course, in order to seal the gap between

the door leaf and the door sill 291 (the gap below the door) and the gap between the door leaf and the door header (the gap above the door), the length of the extension portion 290 may extend beyond the top and bottom of the door leaf in the height direction of the door leaf.
[0080] As shown in Fig.9, the door gap baffle 240 is close to the door comer post 260 and the door sill 291, and presents a bending configuration at the door corner post 260 and the door sill 291. Such a configuration can prevent the cargo of smaller particles and/or greater flowability from leaking from the door gap at the lower part of the dry bulk container as well as prevent it from leaking from the gap at the door corner post 260, causing an even better sealing effect.
[0081] As required, the door gap baffle 240 may be made of plastics, aluminum or steel materials.
[0082] The present invention also discloses a dry bulk container comprising the above container door seal enhancing mechanism and at least one door leaf.
[0083] In an alternate embodiment, the dry bulk container comprises one door leaf which is a tilt-up door, a tilt-down door, a left hand door or a right hand door. That is to say, the opening direction of the door leaf is not limited. For example, the door leaf may be connected with the upright post of the container body, or may be connected with the top end beam or the bottom end beam.
[0084] When the dry bulk container merely has one door leaf, one end of the door leaf is connected with the container body, and the other end can be opened. The container door seal enhancing mechanism of the present invention may be provided at any one end or at both ends of the door leaf, and of course, a door gap baffle of L-shape or other shapes can be provided, but it should be noted that the provision of the door gap baffle should not influence the opening and closing of the door leaf.
[0085] Second embodiment [0086] In this embodiment, the description of the part identical to that of the first embodiment is omitted here for the sake of brevity. In this second embodiment, the members corresponding to the first embodiment are the same in reference numerals, except that the first digit is changed from 2 to 3. The present embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that, as shown in Figs. 10 and 11, one door end of the dry bulk container 300

has a tilt-down third door leaf 310 and a door frame. The third door leaf 310 is connected with the door frame, and the door frame comprises a door header, a door comer post 360 and a door sill 391. The two ends of the door comer post 360 are connected with the door header and the door sill 391, and the third door leaf 360 is fixed and connected with the door sill 391. The door gasket 330 seals the gap between the third door leaf 310 and the door header, the gap between the third door leaf 310 and the door comer post 360, and the gap between the third door leaf 310 and the door sill 391. Two door gap baffles 340 are provided at both ends of the lower part of the third door leaf 310 respectively, and the door gap baffle 340 is fixed and connected with the door comer post 360. The door gasket 330 seals the gap between the third door leaf 310 and the door comer post 360, and between the third door leaf 310 and the door sill 391. A protrusion 370 is close to the door gasket 330, and the cross bar 380 is close to the third door leaf 310. The door gap baffle 340 is configured to be L-shaped, and the distance from the edge of the protmsion 370 to the outside of the door leaf is less than the distance from the inner wall of the door leaf to the outside of the door leaf.
[0087] It will also be appreciated by those skilled in this art that the present invention is not intended to limit the specific application of door gap baffles of different configurations to different dry bulk containers, and it may employ the door gap baffle of any one kind based on the actual conditions of the dry bulk container. The door gap baffles of the first and second embodiments may also employ a configuration in Figs. 12-15 as described in detail below. A door gap baffle of one configuration will be described below in conjunction with Figs. 1213.
[0088] As shown in Fig. 12 which is a front view of the door gap baffle 340, the door gap baffle 340 is configured to be L-shaped, and the door gap baffle 340 has a protmsion 370 and a cross bar 380, and the door gap baffle 340 also has an extension portion 392. The extension portion 392 is provided at an end of the door gap baffle 340 having the protmsion 370, and the extension portion 392 extends upward in the height direction of the container door. The door gap baffle 340 is mounted at the comer at the lower side of the door frame so as to prevent the particles from flowing out, therefore, the protmsion 370 of the door gap baffle 340 blocks the door gasket provided at the comer at the lower side in the horizontal direction, while the extension portion 392 blocks the door gasket provided at the comer at the
DD/MM/YY-Version

lower side in the vertical direction. As shown in a top view Fig. 13, the protrusion 370 protrudes outwardly so as to be close to the door gasket 330, and the extension portion 392 also protrudes outwardly so as to be similarly close to the lower door gasket 330, in order to ensure that the door gasket 330 provided at the lower side of the door frame of the container is at least partially blocked by the door gap baffle 340. As shown in Fig. 13 which is a top view of the door gap baffle 340, the protrusion 370 is close to the door gasket (not shown), and a cross bar 380 is vertically provided at the bottom of the protrusion 370. The distance from the edge of the protmsion 370 to the outside of the door leaf is less than the distance from the inner wall of the door leaf to the outside of the door leaf, and an end of the extension portion 392 is flush with the two opposite ends of the protmsion 370 at the bottom thereof. This door gap baffle is made by welding a profile, a forging piece or a bending piece. Absolutely, the material taken for the door gap baffle may also be other materials. The connection manner between the door gap baffle and the door frame is not restricted to welding. The present invention does not intend to limit the material for the door gap baffle or the connection manner between the door gap baffle and the door frame, and it can employ any one of the suitable structures and connection manners present based on actual situations.
[0089] A door gap baffle of another configuration will be described in detail below with references to Figs. 14-15. As shown in Fig. 14 which is a front view of the door gap baffle 440, the door gap baffle 440 is configured to be L-shaped, and the door gap baffle 440 has a protmsion 470 and a cross bar 480, and the door gap baffle 440 also has an extension portion 492. The extension portion 492 is provided at an end of the door gap baffle 440 having the protmsion 470, and the extension portion 492 extends upward in the height direction of the container door. At this time, the extension portion 492 here does not block the door gasket 430, and just reduces the gap inside the container between the door frame and the door leaf, thus protecting the door gasket 430 to a certain extent. As shown in top view Fig. 15, the protmsion 470 protrudes outwardly so as to be close to the door gasket 430, and the extension portion 492 also protrudes outwardly so as to similarly be close to the lower door gasket 430, in order to ensure that the door gasket 430 provided at the lower side of the door frame of the container is at least partially blocked by the door gap baffle 440. As shown in Fig. 15 which is a top view of the door gap baffle 440, the protmsion 470 is close to the door
