Description
CONVENIENT-TURNOVER WHEELCHAIR ARMREST FOLDING
MECHANISM
Technical Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a convenient-turnover wheelchair armrest folding mechanism.
Background of the Invention A wheelchair provides convenience to people who have difficulties in walking. However, sometimes wheelchair users need to stand up from the wheelchair to move to other places. In this case, a user has to let his/her body out from the wheelchair seat after turning over the armrests upward. The user needs to get resistant force from the wheelchair armrests to stand up on his/her feet alone. There are generally two mechanisms for an existing wheelchair armrest. One mechanism is a movable armrest which can be turned over upward or downward, with a limiting means mounted on an edge of an axle core. This mechanism has simple structure and low cost. However, the strength of this mechanism is not enough. When a user get resistant force from the wheelchair armrests, it is likely to cause the downward turnover of the armrests, and as a result, the user falls. The other mechanism is a movable support rod below the armrest. This mechanism has increased strength. However, this mechanism is costly due to its complicated structure.
Summary of the Invention
An objective of the present invention is to provide a wheelchair armrest folding mechanism by which the turnover of armrests is convenient and safe and the support of the armrests is firm.
In order to achieve this objective, the present invention adopts the following technical solution: a wheelchair armrest folding mechanism is 1 2016101391 03 Aug 2016 provided, including an armrest backrest and armrests; the backrest includes a left backrest support column and a right backrest support column, and the armrests include a left armrest and a right armrest; the left armrest is hinged to the left backrest support column, and the left armrest can be turned over upward; and the right armrest is hinged to the right backrest support column, and the right armrest can be turned over upward; a left armrest support arm is fixed on a lower side of the left armrest and a right armrest support arm is fixed on a lower side of the right armrest; the left armrest support arm extends toward and is engaged and fixed to the left backrest support column and the right armrest support arm extends toward and is engaged and fixed to the right backrest support column; and the upward turnover of the left armrest can separate the left armrest support arm from the left backrest support column, and the upward turnover of the right armrest can separate the right armrest support arm from the right backrest support column, a tube clamp is provided both at a rear end of the left armrest support arm and at a rear end of the right armrest support arm, and a tubular structure which can be matched with the tube clamps is formed on the left backrest support column and the right backrest support column.
With the above arrangement, the left armrest support arm and the left backrest support column in the present invention can be fixed more easily and the right armrest support arm and the right backrest support column can be fixed more easily.
Preferably, a left extension column which extends towards the left is formed on the left backrest support column and a right extension column which extends towards the right is formed on the left backrest support column; and the left armrest is hinged to a left end of the left extension column and the right armrest is hinged to a right end of the right extension column. The above arrangement facilitates the turnover of the left armrest and the right armrest.
In the present invention, the armrests are supported and fixed, by the possible engagement and fixation of the armrests and the backrest support 2 2016101391 03 Aug 2016 columns after the armrests are turned over; the users can get resistant force from the armrests safely; and the arrangement of the left armrest support arm and the right armrest support arm can avoid excessive downward turnover of the left armrest and the right armrest.
The present invention has low cost, convenient and safe armrest turnover, and firm armrest support.

Detailed Description of the Invention
As shown in Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3, Fig. 4, Fig. 5, Fig. 6 and Fig. 7, a wheelchair armrest folding mechanism includes an armrest backrest and armrests; the backrest includes a left backrest support column 1 and a right backrest support column 2, and the armrests include a left armrest 3 and a right armrest 4; the left armrest 3 is hinged to the left backrest support column 1, and the left armrest 3 can be turned over upward; and the right armrest 4 is hinged to the right backrest support column 2, and the right armrest 4 can be turned over upward; a left armrest support arm 5 is fixed on a lower side of the left armrest 3 and a right armrest support arm 6 is fixed on a lower side of the right armrest 4; the left armrest support arm 5 extends toward and is engaged 3 2016101391 03 Aug 2016 and fixed to the left backrest support column 1 and the right armrest support arm 6 extends toward and is engaged and fixed to the right backrest support column 2; and the upward turnover of the left armrest 3 can separate the left armrest support arm 5 from the left backrest support column 1, and the upward turnover of the right armrest 4 can separate the right armrest support arm 6 from the right backrest support column 2. A tube clamp 7of plastic material having certain flexibility is provided both at a rear end of the left armrest support arm 5 and at a rear end of the right armrest support arm 6; the tube clamp 7 includes an engagement portion which is engaged with the left backrest support column 1 or the right backrest support column 2 and a fixing portion which is fixed to the left armrest support arm 1 or the left armrest support arm 2; the left armrest support arm 1 and the right armrest support arm 2 are of a tubular structure, and the fixing portion of the tube clamp 7 extends into the left armrest support arm 5 or the right armrest support arm 6; the tube clamp 7 is fixed to the left armrest support arm 5 or the right armrest support arm 6 through fasteners; the fasteners are screws and nuts, and the left armrest support arm 5 and the right armrest support arm 6 are also of a tubular structure. A left extension column 10 extends leftward from the left backrest support column 1 and a right extension column 11 extends rightward from the right backrest support column 2; and the left armrest 3 is hinged to a left end of the left extension column 10 and the right armrest 4 is hinged to a right end of the right extension column 11. A left hinged tube is formed at a rear end of the left armrest 3 and a right hinged tube 15 is formed at a rear end of the right armrest 4; the left hinged tube is sleeved outside the left extension column 10 and the right hinged tube 15 is sleeved outside the right extension column 11; and a bearing is matched between the left hinged tube and the left extension column 10 and a bearing is matched between the right hinged tube 15 and the right extension column 11.
