Abstract

A portable bottle (1) has a first wall (2) that is concave, to fit against part of a wearer's body, and a second wall (6) that is saddle-shaped. The second wall may have enlarged sections (7A) and (7B), to increase fluid capacity. Section (7A) can also help to retain the bottle in a trouser pocket (8), and may have a lower inclined surface (11) to aid insertion into the pocket. The bottle also has dispensing means (3), which may include a straw (4), and may have securing means, such as hook and loop fasteners, for attaching the bottle to a garment. /_/ Figur 1 0

Description

PORTABLE DRINKING BOTTLE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The invention relates to a bottle, and more particularly to a bottle which can be supported comfortably against the body.
[0002] It is often desirable to carry a bottle about ones person which contains beverage such as water, fruit juice or the like to quench ones thirst. Hitherto most bottles for this purpose are round or elliptical in shape and are supported on the body by means of a carrying strap or harness (e.g attached to a trouser belt). They tend to be somewhat cumbersome to carry or wear, particularly when engaged in an activity such as running, walking or cycling.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The object of the present invention is to a portable drinking bottle to reduce the above mentioned problems.
[0004] According to the invention there is provided a portable drinking bottle comprising: a) a hollow container for fluid, the container having a first wall portion of generally concave shape to conform to the curved shape of parts of the human anatomy, and a second wall portion having a generally anticlastic is shape; b) a dispensing means to dispense fluid from the container.
[0005] In another preferred embodiment, the container is generally elongate with the dispensing means at one end.
[0006] In another preferred embodiment, the second wall portion has at least one enlarged section shaped so as to help retain the bottle in a trouser pocket.
[0007] In another preferred embodiment, the second wall portion sections, has first and second enlarged sections, the first section being shaped so as to help retain the bottle in a trouser pocket.
[0008] In another preferred embodiment, the dispensing means includes a straw extending from the bottle.
[0009] In another preferred embodiment, where one or more sealing aids such as seal are utilized provide a fluid tight seal where necessary.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] Figure 1 shows the underside perspective view of the bottle showing the first concave wall portion, and; [0011] Figure 2 shows a side perspective view of a bottle inserted in a pocket of trousers.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0012] Referring to Figure 1 there is shown a generally elongate bottle having a hollow container 1 for storing fluid such as beverage. The bottle has a generally concave surface 2 forming a first wall portion to conform to the curved of parts of the human such as the waist bottom, leg, arm or chest. One end of the bottle leads into a neck supporting a dispensing means in the form of a removable cap 3 having a drinking straw 4 extending there from. The bottle can be filled with fluid by removing the cap 3 which reveals an aperture (not shown) through which fluid can pass. Two longitudinally extending shoulders 5a,5b are provided on the concave surface 2 to support means thereon (not shown), such as Velcro strips, to secure the bottle to an article on a person such as garment of clothing [0013] Referring now to Figure 2, there is shown a second wall 6 of the bottle 1 which is generally anticlastic or "saddle-shaped", i.e. it is concave over the part of its whilst also being convex over a part of its width. The second wall 6 forms first and second sections 7a,7b. These enlarged sections 7a,7b help to maintain a reasonable fluid capacity in the bottle whilst providing sleek and aesthetic looks for the bottle 1. Also, if the bottle 1 is inserted into the pocket 8 of a pair of trousers 9 (both shown in dotted lines), the first enlarged section 7a helps retain the bottle in the pocket of trousers as the thickened entry edge 10 of the pocket tends to envelop the narrowest section of the bottle formed between the first and second enlarged sections 7a,7b. First enlarged section 7a may also include an inclined surface 1 1 to facilitate insertion of the bottle into a pocket as it helps the entry edge 10 slide over the enlarged section 7a as the bottle is pushed into the pocket.
[0014] Instead of the bottle being supported in a pocket or by securing means such as Velcro to a garment, it could be supported in a harness including an elastic strap which supports the bottle between the two enlarged section 7a,7b. Again the inclined surface 11 may be useful to help guide such an elastic strap over the enlarged section 7a.
[0015] The bottle of the invention may be made of any suitable material such as plastics and of any colors. It may be thermally insulated if desired to maintain fluid inside either hot or cold. Whilst the bottle shown has two enlarged portion 7a,76, only a single portion is required to help retain the bottle in the of trousers. Thus enlarged portion 7b could be dispensed with the bottle taking on a generally wedge shape, but this would result in reduction of fluid capacity. It will be appreciated that in addition to its aesthetic looks, the bottle of the invention can be supported comfortably against the body even when engaged in an activity.
