- 1 COLOUR EFFECT BACKGROUND There is interest in approving the aesthetic appearance of accessories such as 5 those used for storing products such as stationery or paper or files on desks, or used in kitchens and bathrooms as storage. An improved aesthetic appearance, particularly one that is innovative and eye-catching, can lead to greater sales appeal and increased interest in the product. 10 SUMMARY Disclosed in some forms is an accessory composed of a plurality of sheets, at least one of the sheets being a feature sheet having a vivid colour, and at least one of the sheets being a transparent sheet, the transparent sheet having two opposing faces 15 extending between a connecting end surface and a distal end surface, the accessory being configured such that the at least one transparent sheet is positioned at an angle to the at least one feature sheet such that the vivid colour of the feature sheet is visible through the distal end surface of the transparent sheet. 20 The positioning and configuration of the feature sheet and the transparent sheet creates a highlighting effect or a glow effect by shifting the vivid colour of the feature sheet along the transparent sheet and allowing the vivid colour to be viewed at edge surfaces of the transparent sheet. This adds brightness and interest and has particular aesthetic appeal which is desirable for objects such as these. 25 The accessory disclosed is, in some forms, composed of acrylic sheets. The feature sheets are, in some forms, neon or fluorescent acrylic. In some forms the accessory includes laser cut cut-outs for additional visual 30 interest. In some forms the accessory is a desk accessory or a bathroom or kitchen accessory or tableware having walls or supports and configured to hold a product. In some forms the accessory comprises a base, wherein the base is composed of a feature sheet. 10 In some forms the accessory comprises a plurality of transparent sheets, each transparent sheet having a plurality of edge surfaces, wherein the vivid colour is visible at a plurality of edge surfaces. 15 In some forms the vivid colour appearing at the distal edge of the or each transparent sheet creates a highlighting effect. In some forms the plurality of sheets are composed of acrylic. 20 In some forms the accessory is configured to retain at least one item. In some forms the plurality of sheets are configured to form a retaining area of the accessory. 25 In some forms, at least one transparent sheet includes a cut out portion positioned such that the vivid colour can be seen through the edges of the cut out portion. In some forms, at least one transparent sheet includes an etched section 30 through which the vivid colour can be viewed to add additional highlighting effect. Referring now to the Figures, disclosed in Fig. 1 is a accessory 10, in the form of a tray. The accessory 10 comprises a plurality of sheets 12 defining a retaining space 13. In the illustrated form the sheets 12 are composed of acrylic. 69446951 (GHMatters) P1 01 034.AU GEORGINA 1/10/15 - 4 The sheets 12 comprise both transparent acrylic sheets 15 and, in the illustrated form, one feature sheet 16 which is vividly coloured. In this illustrated form the feature sheet 16 is an acrylic sheet in a neon green though it will be clear that alternative feature sheets are available. The sheets are configured to define the 5 retaining space 13 such that the feature sheet forms a base 17 of the accessory 10 and the transparent sheets 15 form three side walls. The feature sheet 16 extends between edges 18 and comprises a connecting face 19 which, in this form in which the feature sheet 16 is a base 17, faces upwardly. 10 The transparent sheets 15 comprise opposing faces 21 which extend between a connecting edge 22 and a distal edge 23. The assembly is configured such that the connecting edge 22 of the transparent sheet 15 is in a facing relationship with the connecting face 19 of the feature sheet 16. 15 The connecting edge 22 abuts the feature sheet 16. This has the effect of allowing the vivid colour of the feature sheet 16 to be clearly visible through the distal edge 23 of the transparent sheet 15. This creates an aesthetic glow effect or highlighting that changes the appearance of the accessory making it more attractive. 20 In this form, the transparent sheets 15 also meet at a corner 24. At this corner the glow effect is more subtle but is still present. The glow effect is also strongly visible through the point at which the connecting edge of the transparent sheet 22 meets the feature sheet 16. 25 The accessory further includes a cut out 25 in the form of a logo. The highlighting or glow effect is visible through the cut out at the edge 26 of the cut out. Moreover, the accessory includes an etched section 26, in this case in the form of a further logo. The highlighting or glow effect is visible at the etched section 27 and brings further aesthetic appeal and differentiation to the accessory. 30 The glow effect is seen through laser cutting or etching, through edging and when the transparent sheet is positioned over the feature sheet to allow the vivid colour of the feature sheet to appear through the edges of the transparent sheet. 35 69446951 (GHMatters) P1 01 034.AU GEORGINA 1/10/15 - 5 Referring now to Fig. 2, disclosed is a accessory 40, in the form of a magazine holder. The accessory 40 comprises a plurality of sheets 42 defining a retaining space 43. In the illustrated form the sheets 42 are composed of acrylic. 5 The sheets 42 comprise both transparent acrylic sheets 45 and, in the illustrated form, a feature sheet 46 which is vividly coloured. In this illustrated form the feature sheet 46 is an acrylic sheet in a neon orange. The sheets 42 are configured to define the retaining space 43 such that the feature sheet forms a base 47 of the accessory 40 and the transparent sheets 45 form two side walls 54, a back 55 and a 10 front wall 56 of the accessory. The feature sheet 46 extends between edges 48 and comprises a connecting face 49 facing upwardly in this accessory. The transparent sheets 45 comprise opposing faces 51 which, in the case of the side walls extend between two connecting 15 edges 52 and a curved distal edge 53, and in the case of the front and rear walls extend between a connecting edge 57 and a straight distal edge 58. The assembly is configured such that the connecting edges 52 of the transparent sheet sides 45 are in a facing relationship with the connecting faces 49 of 20 the feature sheets 46. The connecting edges 52 abut the feature sheets 46. This has the effect of allowing the vivid colour of the feature sheet 46 to be clearly visible through the curved distal edge 53 of the transparent sheet 45. This creates an aesthetic glow effect or highlighting that changes the appearance of the accessory making it more attractive. 25 The accessory further includes a cut out 59 in the form of a logo. The highlighting or glow effect is visible through the cut out at the edge of the cut out. Moreover, the accessory includes an etched section 60, in this case in the form of a further logo. 30 Referring now to Fig. 3, disclosed is an accessory 70, in the form of a pen holder. The accessory 70 comprises a plurality of sheets 72 forming walls of a holder. In the illustrated form the sheets 72 are composed of acrylic. 35 69446951 (GHMatters) P1 01 034.AU GEORGINA 1/10/15 - 6 The sheets 72 comprise both transparent acrylic sheets 75 and a feature sheet 76 which is vividly coloured. In this illustrated form the feature sheet 76 is an acrylic sheet in neon pink. The sheets 72 are configured such that the feature sheet in each accessory forms the base 77 of the pen holder and the transparent sheets 75 form four 5 side walls 78 and a top 79 of the accessory. The feature sheet 76 extends between edges 80 and comprises a connecting face 81 facing upwardly. The transparent sheets 75 comprise opposing faces 83 which, in the case of the side walls extend between connecting edges 84 and a distal 10 edge 85. In the case of the top the edges are all effectively distal edges that meet the distal edges of the side walls at a corner 88. The assembly is configured such that the connecting edges 84 of the transparent sheet sides 75 are in a facing relationship with the connecting face 81 of 15 the feature sheet 76. The connecting edges 84 abut the feature sheet 76. This has the effect of allowing the vivid colour of the feature sheet 76 to be clearly visible through at the corner 88 where the distal edge 85 meets the edge of the top 79. This creates an aesthetic glow effect or highlighting at the corner that changes the appearance of the accessory making it more attractive. The highlighting or glow effect is also visible at the 20 side corners 91 where the transparent sheets 75 meet. As in the other forms, the accessory further includes a cut out 94. However in this form the cut out is in the form of an opening for the insertion of stationery such as pens into the accessory. The highlighting or glow effect is visible through the cut out 94 25 at the edge 95 of the cut out. The cut out is laser cut into the side wall. The accessory 70 further includes an etched logo 96. The highlighting or glow effect is visible at the etched section 96. Referring now to Fig. 4, disclosed is an accessory 100, in the form of a 30 stationery holder. The accessory 100 comprises a plurality of sheets 102 forming walls of a holder. In the illustrated form the sheets 102 are composed of acrylic. The sheets 102 comprise both transparent acrylic sheets 105 and a feature sheet 106 which is vividly coloured. In this illustrated form the feature sheet 106 is an 35 acrylic sheets in a neon green. The sheets 102 are configured such that the feature 69446951 (GHMatters) P1 01 034.AU GEORGINA 1/10/15 - 7 sheet forms the base 107 of the holder and the transparent sheets 105 form side walls 108 of each section 109 of the accessory. The feature sheet 106 extends between edges 110 and comprises a connecting 5 face 111 facing upwardly. The transparent sheets 105 comprise opposing faces 113 which, in the case of the side walls extend between connecting edges 114 and a distal edge 115. The side edge walls include a curved distal edge 116 The assembly is configured such that the connecting edges 114 of the 10 transparent sheet sides 105 are in a facing relationship with the connecting face 111 of the feature sheet 106. The connecting edges 114 abut the feature sheet 106. This has the effect of allowing the vivid colour of the feature sheet 106 to be clearly visible through the distal edges 115 and 116. This creates an aesthetic glow effect or highlighting that changes the appearance of the accessory making it more attractive. 15 The highlighting or glow effect is also visible at the interior side corners 119 where the transparent sheets 105 meet. Referring now to Fig. 5, disclosed is an accessory 130, in the form of a file holder. The accessory 130 comprises a plurality of sheets 132 forming walls and base 20 of the holder. In the illustrated form the sheets 132 are composed of acrylic. The sheets 132 comprise both transparent acrylic sheets 135 and a feature sheet 136 which is vividly coloured. In this illustrated form the feature sheet 136 is an acrylic sheet in orange. The sheets 132 are configured such that the feature sheet in 25 each accessory forms the base 137 of the pen holder and the transparent sheets 135 form sloped file supports 138. The feature sheet 136 extends between edges 140 and comprises a connecting face 141 facing upwardly. The transparent sheets 135 comprise opposing faces 143 30 which extend between connecting edges 144 and a distal edge 145. The assembly is configured such that the connecting edges 144 of the transparent sheet sides 135 are in a facing relationship with the connecting face 141 of the feature sheet 136. The connecting edges 144 abut the feature sheet 136. This has 35 the effect of allowing the vivid colour of the feature sheet 136 to be clearly visible 69446951 (GHMatters) P1 01 034.AU GEORGINA 1/10/15 - 8 through the distal edge 145 of the file supports. This creates an aesthetic glow effect or highlighting at the corner that changes the appearance of the accessory making it more attractive. 5 As in the other forms, the accessory further includes a cut out 154. However in this form the cut out is a circular section central to the file support. The highlighting or glow effect is visible through the cut out 154 at the edge 155 of the cut out. The cut out is laser cut into the file support. The accessory 130 further includes a logo 156. The highlighting or glow effect is visible at the etched and cut out section of the logo 156. 10 Referring now to Fig. 6, disclosed is an accessory 170, in the form of a stationery holder. The accessory 170 comprises a plurality of sheets 172 forming walls of a holder. In the illustrated form the sheets 172 are composed of acrylic. 15 The sheets 172 comprise both transparent acrylic sheets 175 and feature sheets 176 which are vividly coloured. In this illustrated form the feature sheets 176 are an acrylic sheet in a neon pink. The sheets 172 are configured such that the feature sheets forms the walls 177 of the holder and the transparent sheets 175 form internal walls 178 and a base 179 of the accessory. 20 This accessory has a less subtle effect than the previously described accessories. Referring now to Fig. 7, disclosed is an accessory 190, in the form of a pen 25 holder. The accessory 190 comprises a plurality of sheets 192 forming walls of a holder. In the illustrated form the sheets 192 are composed of acrylic. The sheets 192 comprise both a transparent acrylic sheet 195 and feature sheets 196 which are vividly coloured. In this illustrated form the feature sheets 196 30 are an acrylic sheet in a neon green. The sheets 192 are configured such that the feature sheets forms the walls 197 of the holder and the transparent sheet 195 forms a base 199 of the accessory. This accessory has a less subtle effect than the previously described accessories. 35 69446951 (GHMatters) P1 01 034.AU GEORGINA 1/10/15 - 9 The glow or highlighting effect is also available in stationery or other equipment that does not include a receptacle. For example, filing, folders, stapling and punching, notebooks and other stationery related items. 5 While the described embodiments include accessories for storage of stationery, it will be clear to those skilled in the art that the colour effect or highlighting is effective on other products composed of acrylic such as, for examples, kitchen or bathroom storage items and beverage and food containers such as glasses or serving bowls. Thus while specific accessories have been described, it is clear that this colour effect is available 10 to any product having acrylic transparent walls or supports to allow a feature colour to appear therethrough. The accessories are manufactured by providing one or more feature sheets and positioning them as a base or side wall or top of a accessory. Transparent acrylic 15 sheets are then located with respect to the feature sheet such that an edge of the transparent sheet allows a glow from the feature sheet. The transparent acrylic sheet is, in some forms, positioned such that one edge of the sheet abuts the feature sheet, specifically a face of the feature sheet, while another distal edge has a glow effect. 20 Cut outs are laser cut into the transparent sheets and patterns or logos etched onto the laser sheet to allow further appearance of the highlighting or glow effect through the transparent sheets. It is to be understood that, if any prior art publication is referred to 25 herein, such reference does not constitute an admission that the publication forms a part of the common general knowledge in the art, in Australia or any other country.
