Abstract
A decorative composite glass tile is described. The decorative composite tile includes a combination of flat crystal glossy, matt or pearlized glass tile, embossed crystal glass tile and embossed pearlized crystal glass tile elements. The variety of texture glass tile elements laid together create unique and new aesthetic visual effects due to their different refraction caused by different surface textures. Pluralities of tile elements are bonded to a backing material as to provide a full composite tile assembly. Figure 3 Figure 4

AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION Invention Title: A composite glass tile The Invention is described in the following statement: A COMPOSITE TILE AND METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION Field of the invention [001] The present invention relates to a composite glass tile comprised of pieces of different treated surfaces yet same designed shape laid on the mesh for decorative use which is mounted to a wall or floor by adhesive and which provides, as the novelty, a new aesthetical concepts in the industry. Background of the invention [002] Currently in the market, glass decorative tiles are commonly used and welcome due to the aesthetic effect from its unique refraction and its zero water absorption that extends its life time more than the other materials. Distinctive shapes have been designed using the monotonous single glass texture materials or combination of different materials, such as glass and porcelain, glass and marble, glass and metal, adding the variety of the ranges. However, glasses with different textures combined together would create, due to their different refraction, a unique attraction. [003] The present invention seeks to provide a new composite glass tile. [004] In this specification, where a document, act or item of knowledge is referred to or discussed, this reference or discussion is not an admission that the document, act or item of knowledge or any combination thereof was at the priority date: part of common general knowledge; or known to be relevant to an attempt to solve any problem with which this specification is concerned. Summary of the invention [005] In accordance with a first aspect of the present invention there is provided [006]a composite tile including: crystal glass tiles, either in glossy, matt, or with pearlized finishes; Embossed glass tiles; Embossed glass tile, treated with pearlized surface; [007] The surface of crystal glass tile, either glossy or matt, or pearlized, is flat. [008] The surface of the embossed glass tile element could be bumpy, bumpy and smooth or slightly textured. [009] The pearlized glass tile, either flat or embossed, shimmers. [010] Due to the different textures, the flat glossy glass tiles, flat matt glass tiles and embossed glass tiles possess different refraction and so different appearances even they are of the same colour. These different texture glass tiles put together generate a special attraction. The adding of the pearlized flat glass tiles and pearlized embossed glass tiles gives even more diversity in textures and hence produce distinctive composite tiles bringing new visual effects. [011] In accordance with a second aspect of the present invention the embossed surface of the tile element could represent decorative abstract, some rib-like and fossil patterns. [012]The decorative pattern of each embossed patterned tile element can be formed from a larger pattern or have its own individual or singular pattern. [013] In accordance with a third aspect of the present invention the determination of each tile element size can be abstract or be driven by the specific design pattern selected. [014] Additionally, the ratio of different texture glass tiles selected is driven by the specific design and would affect the final aesthetic result. [015] In accordance with a fourth aspect of the present invention the colour of each tile component is preferably of matching colours, either in a single colour, or in specially designed mixed colours. [016] In accordance with a fifth aspect of the present invention the composite tile shall consist of a plurality of tile elements or components bonded to a backing material or a front mounted film or paper so as to provide a composite tile assembly, which would ease the installation of the tiles.
Brief Description of the drawings [017] The invention will now be further explained and illustrated by reference to the accompanying pictures in which: [018] Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4 are photos showing a plan view of four composite tile in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention; [019] Figure 5 is a photo showing the isometric view of one composite tile; [020] Figure 6 is a photo showing the assembly of the composite tile by means of a mesh backing. Detailed description of optional embodiments [021] Referring to the Figures there is shown four composite tiles, the tile being in accordance with preferred embodiments of the present invention. [022] There is shown, with particular reference to Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4, the upper face of 4 different design shape composite tiles, including tile elements comprising crystal glass tile 1, which are the flat glass tiles; an embossed glass tile 2; and an embossed glass tile with pearlized surface 3. [023] The three different glass tile elements are bonded together, shown in Figure 6, by a mesh backing. Ratio of each textured tile can vary.
