Abstract

The invention relates to an optical version and a digital electronic LCD version of a "clip on" removable viewfinder device that attaches to a mobile telephone screen used in conjunction with a mobile phone app that reduces the phone camera image to fit the size of the viewfinder device, whereby the photo taking user is able to view the subject matter of the photograph, prior to taking the photograph, through the viewfinder devices] without interference from screen glare reflections and bright or obstructive light usually associated with mobile phone screens when taking photos using a mobile phone screen.

Description

EDITORIAL NOTE 2015100689 There are five pages of description only.
MOBILE PHONE CAMERA VIEWFINDER FIELD OF THE INVENTION The disclosed invention relates to the field of improvement of viewing an image through or via a mobile telephone for the purposes of taking a photograph. This is done by means of a clip on camera viewfinder device which is attachable to the top right hand corner of a mobile telephone thus allowing the user to see the picture that they wish to take by use of a traditional camera viewfinder rather than the usual full screen method of taking photographs on a mobile telephone thereby eliminating screen glare which arises from sunlight and other light sources reacting with the phones reflective surface. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Mobile telephones have in recent years been developed so as to enable a user to take photographs by means of selection of an application indicated on the telephone screen. When the application is selected the telephone screen converts from revealing the usual data (which can consist of screen saver, application icons and so on) to that of showing the image to the front of the telephone unit. The image which is then selected by the operator and which is determined to be the subject of the photo is photographed by the user touching an indicator site on the camera screen. A problem arises however when the telephone screen is exposed to direct sunlight or sharp artificial light such as spotlights thus causing the screen to reflect such light and obscure the picture displayed on the screen of the device. In order to overcome this problem the instant invention has been developed whereby the mobile telephone has fitted to it a removable clip on camera viewfinder at the top right hand corner of the mobile phone screen thus allowing the user to use the device in the manner of a traditional camera viewfinder and eliminate the problem of sun glare or light reflected interference otherwise encountered on the reflective face of the Mobile Telephone. The removable clip on viewfinder device does not necessarily have to be located at the top right hand corner of the mobile telephone however on most models of telephone currently on the market at this time this position is thought to be the optimum. 1 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide a device which is capable of being temporarily clipped or secured to a mobile telephone thereby offering the user the practicality of a viewfinder such as is found on a conventional camera and thus eliminating the problem associated with the effect of sun glare or similar light reflections on mobile telephone screens utilized for taking of photographs. The invention entails use of a clip on device which will provide the user with a glare free view of the object scene or article which is intended to be the subject matter of the photograph. The invention provides the user with a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) version of the viewfinder device having an LCD viewfinder panel embedded in the viewfinder device thus enabling viewfinder style functionality on a mobile telephone camera. The invention provides the use of an application ("app") within the telephone software which has the effect of reducing the full screen view of the live camera video feed of the images being taken such that those images are scaled down to match the viewfinder viewing area. 2 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS; Figure 1 depicts. Viewfinder App. Figure 2 depicts. Viewfinder device. Figure 3 depicts Optical version of device. Figure 4 depicts Lcd digital version of device. DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT In one embodiment, an optical removable viewfinder device is attached to a mobile phone by way of removable sprung metal clips that attach onto a mobile phone in the top right hand corner of the phone screen. The result replicates a conventional optical camera viewfinder that can be used with a mobile phone camera. By using this optical device the camera user looks through and views the picture they wish to take in a traditional camera viewfinder method instead of the usual full screen way of preparing to take photos on a mobile phone. By doing this screen glare arising from sun light or other bright light does not cause interference to the photo takers vision. Displayed underneath the optical viewfinder is the live video feed camera image of what is normally displayed full screen on a mobile phone during camera operation i.e. the picture to be taken, however, the size of the image displayed under the viewfinder device is reduced down to match the same dimensional view through the viewfinder add on device. Thus replicating a traditional camera function of using a viewfinder In another embodiment a viewfinder mobile phone Application ("app") is used in conjunction with the add on device to modify the camera function of mobile phone to suit the add on viewfinder device. The purpose of the viewfinder "app" is to provide the user with a mobile phone application that reduces the full screen view of the live camera video feed of the picture being taken. The image is scaled down to match the viewfinder viewing area, it also displays a digital touch sensitive delineated shutter button to the left of the mobile phone screen, for pressing with the thumb to take a photo. Also displayed onscreen via the "app" are other usual camera settings and functions such as aperture, shutter speed, 3 picture style, metering modes, flash modes and other camera function parameters that the mob phone camera user usually interacts with. It also provides a moveable focus area that displays on both inside the shutter button area and synced in the viewfinder image area. The focus area is moved to the appropriate position for focus, tapped once to focus the image and once again to activate shutter and take the photograph. The viewfinder "app" is designed to be used in conjunction with the viewfinder device. In yet another embodiment, a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) viewfinder add on device is used. The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) version of the viewfinder device is similar in construction and size to the optical design; however, instead of using an onscreen optically reduced visual display of the camera image, it incorporates an LCD digital viewfinder panel embedded in the viewfinder device to enable viewfinder style camera functionality on a mobile phone camera. The viewfinder is powered and fed the appropriate digital camera data through the charging port via a plug in connection and electrical cabling. The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) version will also need to be used in conjunction with the viewfinder "app" to also functions onscreen. The add on device is made from a hard moulded plastic backing plate, sprung metal clips, rubber eye cup, appropriate optical v/f lenses for viewing through, and for the LCD version an LCD viewfinder panel embedded in the device instead of using an optical through to reduced display on phone screen. The device is connected through the charging port on the telephone apparatus via appropriate cable and plug. 4 Sequence Listing Figure 1- Viewfinder app A -Live feed of camera reduced to fit on phone screen in top right hand corner.
