Abstract
The disclosed invention comprises four units assemble for mounting different smartphones on the bicycle handlebar. First unit is the "Universal Handlebar Mount Bracket Unit" (2) with two brackets which get fixed on the handlebar by tightening two bolts. Second unit is the "Universal Handlebar Mount Base" (3) which can slide in to the receiver of the first unit and get fixed by Lock-Ball mechanism. This unit can accept third unit which is the "Turn-Lock Base Adaptor" (4). Fourth unit is the "Universal Smartphone Holder Unit" (5) which has four sliding in/out brackets to hold different smartphones. On the bottom of this unit there are two metallic balls as a part of lock-ball mechanism and also two sloped nibs on the side face. These nibs turn around and guided down by the thread inside of the Turn-Lock Base Adaptor to activate the lock-ball mechanism. 0re
Description
1 UNIVERSAL BICYCLE HANDLEBAR MOUNT + UNIVERSAL SMARTPHONE HOLDER BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0001] As a bicycle rider it is priceless to have your smartphone handy in front of you firmly mounted on your handlebar to use its features while you are riding rather than pulling over to use it. But the problem is there are so many different smartphones available in the market and designing a product that can hold a big variety of them is even more priceless. [0002] Designing a universal smartphone holder was a challenge by itself but designing something to give flexibility to the rider to attach other devices to the handlebar is another story. With this in mind the following concept has been designed and developed to not only hold different smartphones but also the base and the bracket can be used to accept other parts and adaptors for future designs and developments. DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS [0003] JahedBros "Universal Smartphone Holder Full Kit" (Figure 1) is a kit comprising four units: [0004] "Universal Handlebar Mount Bracket Unit" (Figure 2) is a pair of brackets which gets fixed on the handlebar by tightening two bolts. The unit without packers can wrap around handlebar size 31.8mm however the unit has the ability to accept packers for other handlebar sizes less than 31.8mm. This unit has the ability to receive other parts/units through its female cavity labelled as "Receiver" which accommodates a metallic ball as a part of the lock-ball mechanism to lock other parts/units in place. [0005] Once "Universal Handlebar Mount Bracket Unit" got fixed over the handlebar then the "Universal Handlebar Mount Base" (Figure 3) can slide in to the receiver female cavity and eventually the lock-ball mechanism gets activated with a "Click" sound to lock in place. The 2 other side of the "Universal Handlebar Mount Base" has two circular platforms; top and bottom. In between these two platforms there are four nuts mounted inside to be used for fixing other parts/units such as "Turn-Lock Base Adaptor" (Figure 4). [0006] "Turn-Lock Base Adaptor" (As shown in Figure 4) is an adaptor can be mounted with two countersunk bolts on the "Universal Handlebar Mount Base". This adaptor is threaded inside with two rounded carved cavity as a part of the lock-ball mechanism. Also it has a slot on the side face for the cable tie to get passed as for the extra locking mechanism. [0007] The last unit is the "Universal Smartphone Holder Unit" (Figure 5). This unit has four slides in/out brackets to hold different smartphones. Once these brackets slide in hard against the smartphone they can be fixed in place by tightening the bolts passing through their inner slot from side. On the bottom of this unit there are two metallic balls as a part of lock-ball mechanism and also two sloped nibs on the side face. These nibs turn around and guided down by the thread inside of the "Turn-Lock Base Adaptor" to activate the lock-ball mechanism. [0008] At last once everything got together as an extra locking mechanism a cable tie will pass through a slot to prevent unlocking the lock-ball mechanism.
Claims (5)
1. JahedBros "Universal Smartphone Holder Full Kit" comprising: a. Universal Handlebar Mount Bracket Unit b. Universal Handlebar Mount Base c. Turn-Lock Base Adaptor d. Universal Smartphone Holder Unit All above mentioned units assemble together in specific ways and mechanisms claimed in the following claims to create a flexibility of mounting different Smartphones on the handlebar.
2. "Universal Handlebar Mount Bracket Unit" is a pair of brackets that mount on the handle bar with a receiver in front. This receiver allows other parts and units to slide in and mount firmly in place using a lock-ball mechanism. The receiver has been designed in a way that the other part/unit can slide in from the top and stops at the bottom. Lock-Ball mechanism is a male and female fixture comprising a rounded cavity as the female side and a metallic ball as for the male side where the ball has been fixed on the receiver and the rounded cavity carved on the other part/unit. As the part/unit slides in to the receiver the tension between the ball and the part/unit increases until the ball suddenly drops in to the female cavity with a "Click" sound. Inside of the Brackets there is also a rectangular shape female cavity to act as a receiver for different packers for different handlebar sizes. Finally brackets join together by bolts and nuts.
3. "Universal Handlebar Mount Base", is a part that can slide in to the receiver of "Universal Handlebar Mount Bracket Unit" to create a platform right in front of the handlebar knuckle with the ability to accept different parts, adaptors and units from top and bottom. One end is a male shape that slides in to the receiver of the "Universal Handlebar Mount Bracket Unit" with the ability to activate the lock-ball mechanism (as claimed in claim 2) and the other end is a rounded shape platform having four nuts mounted inside to fix parts, adaptors and units with screws on it. 2
4. "Turn-Lock Base Adaptor" is an adaptor that get fixed with two countersunk bolts over the "Universal Handlebar Mount Base" to accept other parts/units which slide in and turn to lock by two lock-balls mechanism. This adaptor has two rounded cavity to accommodate metallic balls of lock-ball mechanism. It has sloped turned profiles (thread) on the inner face which guide the other part (in this case "Smartphone Holder Unit") down against the base as it turns and eventually metallic balls drop in to the rounded cavity with a "Click" sound to lock in place. It also has a slot on the side face to accept Cable-Tie as an extra locking mechanism.
5. "Universal Smartphone Holder Unit" is a universal holder for different types of Smartphones with four sliding adjustable brackets. The bottom of "Smartphone Holder Unit" has been designed to accommodate two metallic balls plus semi thread shape nib on the side face to slide, turn and lock over the "Turn-Lock Base Adaptor" (as claimed in claim 4). Also it has a slot on the bottom side face to accept Cable-Tie as an extra locking mechanism. There are places to accommodate nuts and bolts on the side of the base to fix the brackets in place by tightening the bolts. Slide in/out brackets have a slot which the bolts can pass through.
