Abstract

The present invention provides printing papers having both high brightness and high opacity. Specifically, it provides a printing paper containing one or more colorants selected from the group consisting of purple pigments, purple dyes, blue pigments and blue dyes and having an opacity of 85 % or more, said printing paper having an a* value of 0 or more and less than 7 and a b* value of -15 or more and less than -3 as determined according to the method of JIS P 8150 using a light source including a UV component.
