A method to upload and catalogue photos, video and personal accounts and offer for sale and download. Background: There are many examples of online or internet based websites where amateur and professional photographers and videographers are able to upload data files for the purpose of exhibiting photographs and videos to the Public. Some internet sites are a portal to exhibit strictly still photographs. Others are a portal to exhibit strictly video productions. Others provide an interface which facilitates the upload of photographic data files with a view to exhibiting and selling the underlying images to agencies, production houses and consumers generally for contextual reporting, marketing, promotional or presentation purposes. These internet sites do not cater to the professional or amateur photographer and videographer who captures fortuitous, candid or otherwise interesting photographic images or video and wishes to offer the source data file for sale. Equally, current internet based sites do not provide a suitable platform for individuals or groups of individuals (such as eyewitnesses, celebrities and those with notoriety) to offer their personal accounts to the Public. Furthermore, the present internet sites do not offer a system suitable for the cataloguing of fortuitous, candid or otherwise interesting photographic images or video, or for those wishing to offer their personal accounts to the Public. Such a system would allow Sellers to easily catalogue their image files or accounts, allowing Buyers to quickly and conveniently review the fortuitous, candid or otherwise interesting data files and personal accounts being offered for sale. Selling merchandise online is often either via an auction process or by the seller nominating a fixed value or amount. In contrast, the sale of data and data files online is mostly at fixed value. Buyers and Sellers negotiating the sale of data and data files online through a process of offer and acceptance is rarely, if ever, seen. - 1- The Invention: The invention is a system and process which allows Sellers to easily catalogue, upload, and present Moments to the Public for sale on an internet site. A key element of the invention is that individual but similar Moments are logically assembled and stored by the system and process to allow easy and convenient perusal of Moments by Buyers for possible purchase. This element of the invention utilises an intuitive and interactive upload and listing routine where Sellers are guided through steps, context sensitive hints, suggestions and data validation routines to make the cataloguing process highly efficient and extremely accurate. The process also allows efficient and rapid listing of Moments for sale as cataloguing is driven by intuitive and responsive software, not by the administrators of the website. Moments undergo a routine upon upload which applies extensive watermarks and otherwise causes the video or photo displayed to the Public to be low resolution. Generally, Moments can therefore be viewed by the Public but are otherwise unusable. In certain circumstances, a Moment may be suppressed from Public viewing in which case viewing, bidding and purchase is restricted to invited Buyers. Moment purchases can be effected by any one of an auction process, a predetermined absolute sale value, or by an offer and acceptance routine between Buyers and Sellers in their own nominated currency. In one embodiment of the invention, the Seller nominates during the upload and listing routine if the Moment is a photographic (still) file, a video file, a combination of both, or relates to a personal account. The Seller then provides details of where the Moment was captured, nominates a high level category such as Breaking News, Exclusive News or Human Interest, and then selects one or more classifications or sub-categories describing the Moment. The classification choices offered to the Seller are predefined and customised on a real time basis according to the higher level category selected. The number of classifications offered in respect of each category could amount to many hundreds, and the Public may be invited to suggest new classifications which may or may not be accepted by the administrator of the system. -2- Apart from data file type, location, category, and classification, additional sub classifications or levels may be made available by the system for display on the internet site in order to improve the precision and intuitive nature of the cataloguing system and software. The cataloguing software creates a relationship matrix between like or otherwise similar Moments according to whether they are still photographic or video data, or if a personal account, and by reference to the location, category, classification, etc. data provided by the Seller. The technology of the system applies the relationship matrix to present Moments appropriately grouped on the internet site's home page and underlying pages dedicated to each category. Visitors to the internet site are able to quickly and conveniently review all Moments available under each category and classification for appraisal and possible purchase. The Public and Buyers can also search or filter for Moments based on geography, category, classification or keyword. In another embodiment of the invention, the technology, system and process associated with the invention identifies trending Moments according to the number of Moments being catalogued under a particular category and / or classification within a certain time period. Moments are then identified and highlighted as "Hot Moments" on the home page with alerts sent to Buyers via a variety of electronic means, such as by email and mobile phone. A dedicated Hot Moments page is also made available. During the upload and listing routine, Sellers elect if they are prepared to accept a fixed amount; if they are prepared to accept offers from potential Buyers (which can be accepted or rejected by the Seller); and nominate which of the system defined auction periods (which may extend from an hour to many days and many weeks) is appropriate depending on the Moment's selected category. The presentation of the fixed value on the internet site (if a fixed value was nominated by the Seller during the listing routine) is suppressed if bidding exceeds the fixed value. Similarly, offers are automatically rejected if bidding exceeds the offer amount. Buyers -3are notified as appropriate of rejected bids via a variety of electronic means, such as by email and mobile phone. Moments unsold at the end of the listing period are automatically relisted for the maximum period using the previously defined parameters which can be modified by the Seller. All values are presented in the viewers local currency. Settlement of either the Instant Purchase, an accepted offer or the final auction value occurs in the respective local currency of the Buyer and Seller. Definitions: Breaking News means Moments captured where Buyer demand is likely to be high due to the location or scale of the event, such as data captured during a natural disaster. Buyer means any person, entity or organisation who has a past, present, future or potential interest in purchasing Moments from Sellers. Exclusive News means Moments of unique images, such as a collapsing iceberg. Human Interest means Moments that are entertaining, curious or emotional including video appropriate to live action style TV genres. Moments means data files of photographic images and videos (generally motion videos) captured on any device designed or appropriate for the purpose. A Moment can comprise one file or a number of related files. Moments also include story lines and personal accounts offered and provided by Sellers. Public means any person, entity or organisation and includes professional photographers, paparazzi and freelance. Sellers means any person, entity or organisation who uploads Moments for sale to Buyers -4-
