LAUNDRYBASKETHANGER
FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a detachable laundry basket hanger for detachably clamping onto a laundry basket, ironing board, chair, or similar so that a garment can be fitted to the hanger portion in an unfolded state.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Upon washing and or laundering clothes, these are usually gathered in a laundry basket or hamper where they become wrinkled.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0003] It is an object of invention to provide a laundry basket hanger which goes some way to overcoming the abovementioned disadvantages or which at least provides the public or industry with a useful choice.
[0004] The term "comprising" as used in this specification and indicative independent claims means "consisting at least in part of'. When interpreting each statement in this specification and indicative independent claims that includes the term "comprising", features other than that or those prefaced by the term may also be present. Related terms such as "comprise" and "comprises" are to be interpreted in the same manner.
[0005] As used herein the term "and/or" means "and" or "or", or both.
[0006] As used herein "(s)" following a noun means the plural and/or singular forms of the noun.
[0007] Accordingly, a first aspect of the present invention provides a detachable laundry basket hanger comprising: an upper laterally-extending member having a first end and a second end; and two spaced-apart arms configured to detachably clamp to the sides of a laundry basket, each of the arms extending downwardly from a respective end of the upper member to a free end portion, wherein each of the arms is shaped to provide an inwardly- directed contoured portion between the upper member and the free end portion, and wherein the upper member and the arms are configured so that a garment can be fitted thereon in an unfolded state.
[0008] In an embodiment, the free end portion of each of the arms may be shaped to provide a protruding concave handle that is configured to clamp to the respective side of the laundry basket.
[0009] In an embodiment, each of the protruding concave handles may have a rubber tip.
[0010] In an embodiment, the upper member and the arms maybe configured so that the garment is laid on in an upright position.
[0011] In an embodiment, each of the arms may define a height of about 50cm.
[0012] In an embodiment, the upper member and the arms maybe integrally formed from a moulded plastic material.
[0013] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realised that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.
[0014] This invention may also be said broadly to consist in the parts, elements and features referred to or indicated in the specification of the application, individually or collectively, and any or all combinations of any two or more said parts, elements or features, and where specific integers are mentioned herein which have known equivalents in the art to which this invention relates, such known equivalents are deemed to be incorporated herein as if individually set forth.
[0015] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0022] A detachable laundry basket hanger according to embodiments of the invention is shown in the figures. Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of a laundry basket hanger 100. The laundry basket hanger 100 comprises an upper laterally-extending member 102 having a first end 104 and a second end 106. The laundry basket hanger 100 also comprises two spaced apart arms 108a, 108b configured to detachably attach or clamp to the sides of a laundry basket 10, ironing board, chair, or similar. Each arm 108a, 108b extends downwardly from a respective end 104, 106 of the upper member 102 to a free end portion 1Oa, 1Ob. Each arm 108a, 108b is also shaped to provide an inwardly-directed contoured portion 112a, 112b between the upper member 102 and the free end portion 1Oa, 1Ob. The upper member 102 and the arms 108a, 108b are configured so that a garment, such as a shirt or blouse, can be fitted thereon in an unfolded state. When a garment has been washed, the garment can be placed or fitted onto the upper member 102 and the arms 108a, 108b so as to not wrinkle. The contoured portions 112a, 112b of the arms 108a, 108b provide the laundry basket hanger 100 with a shape generally corresponding to the shape of the shirt or blouse, so as to prevent the shape of the shirt or blouse from being distorted and further wrinkled when fitted onto the laundry basket hanger 100. In this embodiment, each of the arms 108a, 108b defines a height of about 50cm. The upper member 102 and the arms 108a, 108b are integrally formed from a moulded plastic material.
[0023] Figure 2 shows second embodiment of a laundry basket hanger 200. The laundry basket hanger 200 is substantially similar to the laundry basket hanger 100 and like features have been indicated with like reference numerals. However, in this embodiment, the laundry basket hanger 200 comprises a hook 202 attached to the upper member 102.
[0024] Figure 3 shows a third embodiment of a laundry basket hanger 300. The laundry basket hanger 300 is substantially similar to the laundry basket hanger 100 and like features have been indicated with like reference numerals. However, in this embodiment, the free end portion 11Oa, 11Ob of each of the arms 108a, 108b is shaped to provide a protruding concave handle302a, 302b that allow the laundry basket hanger 300 to detachably attach or clamp onto the respective sides of the laundry basket 10 in use, standing upright, as best shown in Figure 5. Each of the protruding concave handles 302a, 302b has a rubber tip (not shown) to enable the laundry basket hanger 300 to clamp securely onto the laundry basket 10.
[0025] Figure 4 shows a fourth embodiment of a laundry basket hanger 400. The laundry basket hanger 400 is substantially similar to the laundry basket hanger 300 and like features have been indicated with like reference numerals. However, in this embodiment, the laundry basket hanger 400 comprises a hook 402 attached to the upper member 102.
