Abstract

2013100607 Safety@POC (Point of Care): A small (13x7cm) laminated sign with a QR code embedded with a link or URL to best practice vignette. These small signs hold links to best practice for the particular procedure a clinician is about to do e.g. ECG. The clinician uses their smart phone, QR code reader App to access the vignetted. Having safety information that's readily accessible saves time and saves patient lives. There are hundreds of procedures clinicians need to remember to do properly and this innovation ensures they can do the right procedure at the right time, every time. To recognise the development of the sign and its use in clinical environments to enhance patient safety. A first of its kind for healthcare to bring to life policy and procedures that are not easily accessible. It has many applications including correct medication prescription and administration.
