Abstract

A cap for a depilatory composition product container which comprises a product application surface to dispense the composition onto the skin of the user, and a product removal edge for scraping the cream from the skin of the user, such that the cap can function both as product applicator and product residue collector.

Description

WO 2012/123739 PCT/GB2012/050558 DISPENSER CAP The present invention relates to a cap for a depilatory composition product container which comprises a product application surface to dispense the composition onto the skin of the user, and a product removal edge for scraping the cream from the skin of the user, such that the cap can function both as product applicator and product residue collector. Also covered is a kit for a depilatory composition, wherein the kit includes a container arranged to receive a cosmetic composition comprising a dispensing outlet for the composition; and a removable cap according to the invention wherein the cap is configured to fit over the dispensing outlet and form an integral part of the kit. W02007/072040 discloses a depilatory cream dispenser which comprises a sachet, which contains the depilatory cream, integrally formed with a product applicator and scraper. The product is designed for single use of a cream product and is somewhat complex in its construction, and does not properly collect the residue from the skin of the user. W02007/049031 discloses a cover member for a container which includes a cap portion and a leg member which has a recess adapted to receive a scraper tool. This is a multiple use device but requires separation of the scraper from the cap and also does not properly collect the residue from the skin of the user. In a first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap for a depilatory composition product container which comprises a product application surface to dispense the composition onto the skin of the user, and a product removal edge for scraping the cream from the skin of the user, such that the cap can function both as product applicator and product residue collector. In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described which is hemispherical.
WO 20121123739 PCT/GB2012/050558 -2 In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described which includes one or more internal protrusions arranged to releasably engage the cover member with a container. In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described wherein the internal protrusions are arranged in a radial orientation extending inwardly from an outer edge of the cap portion. In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described wherein the product application surface is a planar surface. In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described wherein the product removal edge is located at the end of the product application surface. In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described wherein the product removal edge comprises a material of greater flexibility than the remainder of the cap. In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described wherein the product removal edge comprises a thermoplastic elastomer material In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described wherein the product removal edge has a rounded shape/contour at each end of the edge. In a further aspect of the first embodiment of the present invention, there is described a cap substantially as hereinbefore described wherein the product - 3 removal edge has a width of between 30mm and 50mm and a thickness between 0.5mm and 1.5mm. In a second embodiment of the present invention, there is described a kit for a 5 depilatory composition, wherein the kit includes : a container arranged to receive a cosmetic composition comprising a dispensing outlet for the composition; and a removable cap according to the first embodiment of the invention as hereinbefore described; wherein the cap is configured to fit over the dispensing outlet and form an integral part of the kit. 10 In a further aspect of the second embodiment of the present invention, there is described a kit wherein the container is arranged to receive a depilatory composition in the form of a foam, gel or cream. 1 The invention will now be described in relation to the Figures below. Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a cap according to the present invention Figure 2 shows a side view of a cap according to the present invention 20 Figure 3 shows a side view of a kit according to the present invention Figure 4 shows a perspective view of a kit according to the present invention 25 Figures 1 and 2 show a hemispherical cap (1) with straightened sides (2,2'), a product removal edge (3, 4) which has a substantially straight front portion (4) and rounded edges (3). Preferably the product removal edge is formed from a different material to the cap, more preferably from a more resilient material, a particular example of which is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The main part 30 of the cap can be made from any suitable rigid material, eg plastic.
- 4 Figures 3 to 4 show the kit, in this case an assembly of a cap as shown in Figures 1 and 2 and an aerosol container (5) which contains the depilatory composition along with a suitable propellant. The aerosol container can be any suitable standard container, and may be cylindrical or curved in profile, and 5 formed from standard materials eg aluminium or tin plate. In use, the cap is removed, and the depilatory composition is applied to the appropriate skin area. The flat from surface of the cap can be used to spread the composition to ensure even distribution. After a period of time waiting for the lo composition to take effect, the cap can then be used to remove the composition from the skin using the product removal edge (4), whereupon the waste product is collected efficiently inside the cap and the cap can then easily be cleaned by a quick rinse under running water, and replaced on the container. 15

Claims (10)

1. A cap for a depilatory composition product container which comprises a product application surface to dispense the composition onto the skin of the user, and a product removal edge for scraping the cream from the skin of the user, such that the cap can function both as product applicator and product residue collector, wherein the cap includes one or more internal protrusions arranged to releasably engage the cover member with a container, and the product removal edge comprises a material of greater flexibility than the remainder of the cap.
2. A cap according to claim 1 which is hemispherical.
3. A cap according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the internal protrusions are arranged in a radial orientation extending inwardly from an outer edge of the cap portion.
4. A cap according to any preceding claim wherein the product application surface is a planar surface.
5. A cap according to any preceding claim wherein the product removal edge is located at the end of the product application surface.
6. A cap according to any preceding claim wherein the product removal edge comprises a resilient thermoplastic elastomer material.
7. A cap according to any preceding claim wherein the product removal edge has a rounded shape/contour at each end of the edge.
8. A cap according to any preceding claim wherein the product removal edge has a width of between 30 mm and 50mm and a thickness between 0.2mm and 2.0mm.
9. A kit for a depilatory composition, wherein the kit includes: a container arranged to receive a cosmetic composition comprising a dispensing outlet for the composition; and a removable cap according to claim 1; -6 wherein the cap is configured to fit over the dispensing outlet and form an integral part of the kit.
10. A kit according to claim 9, wherein the container is arranged to receive a depilatory composition in the form of a foam, gel or cream.
