Description
EDITORIAL NOTE 2012227318 There are five pages of Description only Australian patents act 1990 Complete Specifications Standard Patent Flying bike The following statement is a full description of this invention. Includes drawings.
iCA4he i Title Flying bike Technical field Aviation and motor vehicle transport Background art There have been several attempts at a flying bike; most of these are where a hang glider type wing is fixed to a standard motorcycle or tricycle Abstract Flying bike is a powered bike that can be ridden as a motorcycle and after fitting the outer wings can be flown as a canard wing aircraft.
Description 001. The bike frame is made of tubular steel fig 1/1 002. The wings are a composite of aluminium foam and cloth. Fig 1/ 2 003. Vehicle has footrests Fig4/22 004. As an aircraft the front wheel, which is covered, acts as the rudder. Fig 1/ 3 005. As an aircraft the handlebars figl/15 move the rudder and also control the pitch (nose up and down) via a connecting rod Fig 4/4 attached to the front wing Fig 4/5. 006. The main inner wings are fixed to the vehicle at all times and are braced to each other at the top fig 2/7, the main spar to the vehicle at the bottom Fig2/8 the rear spar at Fig 2/8a to form a rigid triangle shape. 007. The wings have a tubular main spar and a smaller tubular rear spar 008. The outer wing attach to the inner wing by sliding the outer spars into the inner spars at separation point fig 1/6 009. The outer wings are held on by a steel cable running from the wing tip, through the main spar, attaching to the bike frame at, Fig 2/9 010. Propulsion is from a light aircraft engine with a pusher propeller mounted at the rear of the vehicle. Fig 4/10 011. The seat is adjustable to allow for different pilot weights. Fig 4/11 012. Centre of gravity is at the leading edge of the main wing. Fig 4/12 Pe e 3 013. The vehicles, detachable, fuel tank is mounted on at the centre of gravity. Fig 4/14 014. The vehicle has front and rear suspension. Fig 4/13 015. The vehicle has front and rear brakes. 016. Dimensions of the vehicle as a bike are 3.3m long x 2.Om wide x 1.5m high 017. As an aircraft 3.3m long x 6.9m wide x 1.7m high Pase 5 Embodiments This vehicle is a prototype and could be built using different materials than stated as long as the aircrafts centre of gravity is maintained. The vehicle could also have as many variants as we see today in aircraft wing design and motorcycle styles. The vehicle could also be fitted with floats to make it amphibious
Claims (1)
