Our Ref: 35115315 P/00/011 Regulation 3:2 AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 ORIGINAL COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Applicant(s): Unilever PLC Unilever House, 100 Victoria Embankment, London, Greater London EC4Y ODY, United Kingdom Address for Service: DAVIES COLLISON CAVE Patent & Trade Mark Attorneys 255 Elizabeth Street SYDNEY NSW 2000 Invention Title: "Composition" The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me:- C:\NRPortbIlDCC\SJf\4679323_1 DOC-10/16/2D12 COMPOSITION The present invention relates to a hair treatment composition comprising anti dandruff agents and a cationic deposition polymer. 5 DE 101 11 288 (Wella) discloses a composition comprising climbazole, zinc pyrithione and Polyquaternium-10. Despite the prior art there remains the need for improved anti-dandruff 10 compositions. Accordingly, the present invention provides a hair treatment composition comprising a zinc-based antidandruff agent, a conazole fungicide and a cationic modified guar deposition polymer. 15 Preferably, the zinc-based antidandruff agent is zinc pyrithione. Preferably, the zinc-based antidandruff agent is present at from 0.01 to 2% wt. of the composition. More preferably it is present at from 0.5 to 1.5 and most 20 preferably from 0.75 to 1.25% wt. of the composition. Preferably, the conazole fungicide is selected from ketoconazole and climbazole. Preferably, the conazole fungicide is present at from 0.01 to 2% wt. of the 25 composition. More preferably it is present at from 0.025 to 0.75% wt. of the composition. Such cationic deposition polymers may be a homopolymer or be formed from two or more types of monomers. The molecular weight of the polymer will generally 30 be between 5 000 and 10 000 000 unified atomic mass units, typically at least 10 000 and preferably from 100 000 to 2 000 000. The polymers will have cationic nitrogen containing groups such as quaternary ammonium or protonated amino groups, or a mixture thereof. A suitable cationic deposition polymer is AQU D4051 C:\MRPort\DCCSm4679323_1 DOC-1)/16121112 -2 a cationically-modified guar commercially available from Aqualon. Preferably, the cationic deposition polymer is guar hydroxypropyl trimonium chloride. 5 It is highly preferred that compositions according to the invention should contain from 0.04% to 2% wt. of the composition cationic deposition polymer, more preferably from 0.05 to 0.5% wt. and most preferably from 0.08 to 0.25% by weight of the composition. 10 According to another aspect the present invention provides a hair treatment composition comprising from 0.01 to 1.5% of a zinc-based antidandruff agent by weight of the composition, from 0.01 to 0.75% of a conazole fungicide by weight of the composition, and from 0.04 to 2% of a cationic modified guar deposition 15 polymer by weight of the composition, wherein the conazole fungicide is selected from ketoconazole and climbazole, with the proviso that the composition is not a shampoo consisting of: - 12 wt.% of sodium laureth sulphate; - 4 wt% of cocoamidopropyl betaine; 20 - 3 wt.% of decyl glucoside; - 0.2 wt% of polyquaternium-7; - 0.3 wt.% of guar hydroxypropyl trimonium chloride; - 0.5 wt.% of PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil; - 1 wt.% of glycol distearate; 25 - 2 wt.% of urea; - 3.75 wt.% Polysaf 5600 (40% dispersion); - 0.2 wt.% of sodium salicylate; - 0.5 wt.% of zinc pyrithione; - 0.5 wt. of sodium benzoate; 30 - 2 wt.% of cocamide DEA; - 0.3 wt.% of Coolact 10; - 0.3 wt.% of Benzophenone-4; - 0.3 wt.% of oryzanol; CANRPonbR\DCCSMT4679323_1 DOC-1W16/2012 -3 - 0.5 wt.% of climbazole; - 0.3 wt.% of piroctone olamine; - q.s.of caustic soda solution, perfume, citric acid, and sodium chloride; and 5 - balance of water. The composition according to the invention may be in any common product form used to treat hair. However, preferably, it is shampoo composition. io The composition according to the invention may comprise any of the ingredients commonly found in hair treatment compositions depending on the product form. For example, where the composition is a shampoo it will comprise at least one cleansing surfactant such as is commonly employed in shampoos. Where it is a 15 composition which aims to provide conditioning benefit, whether as part of a shampoo composition or a dedicated conditioning composition it will comprise a conditioning active. Suitable conditioning actives include fatty alcohols, silicones and cationic surfactants. 20 EXAMPLE I The following formulation is an embodiment of the invention and is made by standard processes.
