Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiment [0007] The protective case itself (3) is to be constructed from a hard resin like material. The whole case, will be constructed of two separate pieces which fit together and separate in a snap lock fit at the point indicated in (6). The lower half of the case is the core component of the invention, where the main mechanical feature being the retractable cord mechanism (2) sits inside the protective case. The entire retractable cord is contained within the protective case structure (2) with the USB Connection point (4) fitted inside a specifically shaped recess (4) to which when fully retracted the USB connection sits firmly in place to avoid catching on pockets or bags, where the case would be placed. The end of the USB Connection (4) is the only visible part of the mechanism, unless the cord is extended for connection to USB compatible devices. The smartphone is inserted into the lower half of the protective case, where the 30 pin connection point (apple devices) or micro USB connection (Android devices) (1) connects to the smartphone, activating the USB cord (5 & 2 & 4).
