Description
1 Shearing Machine with a Differential Receptacle Technical Field The present invention relates to a guillotine or shearing machine with a differential receptacle. In particular the present invention relates to a guillotine or shearing machine 5 which has a differential receptacle for sorting and collecting cut metal sheets, bars or other metal objects. Background Previously, shearing machine or guillotine for metal sheets, bars and other metal objects does not provide receptacle for collecting and receiving workpieces after cutting. The .0 workpieces are either removed manually or allowed to drop on the workshop floor for later cleaning. Further there is no means for differentiating and sorting scraps and work pieces without human intervention. US Patent No. 2982164 discloses a shearing machine comprising a stationary frame supporting an anvil connected to the lower part of the vertical edges of the frame. The .5 shearing machine has a fixed shearing blade on the anvil, a rectangular frame slidably mounted on the upper part of the unconnected vertical edges of the frame. One disadvantage of this shearing machine is that there is no receptacle for collecting cut workpieces. In addition, there is no differential mechanism for sorting or filtering cut workpieces. .0 It is an object of the present invention to provide a shearing machine or guillotine with a differential receptacle. Summary of the Invention In accordance with a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a shearing machine comprising 25 a frame accommodating a platform for supporting a workpiece, and a shearing assembly for cutting the workpiece on the platform; and a filter removeably engaging with the frame underneath the platform, for receiving cut workpieces dropping from the platform; wherein the filter comprises one or more apertures, such that the cut workpieces of a 30 particular size or shape are allowed to fall therethrough. Preferably, each one or more of the apertures has an adjustable size or shape.
2 Preferably, the filter comprises one or more longitudinal bars connected to a filter frame. Preferably, each one or more of the longitudinal bars has an adjustable length. Preferably, the filter further comprises one or more latitudinal bars lying across the longitudinal bars. 5 Preferably, the shearing machine further comprises a tray beneath the filter for receiving cut workpieces fallen from the filter. Preferably, the shearing machine further comprises a guiding plate for receiving cut workpieces fallen from the filter and guiding the cut workpieces towards a particular direction. .0 Brief Description of the Drawings Embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of examples, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a side section view of a shearing machine according to an embodiment of the present invention. .5 Figure 2 is a top view of a receptacle of the shearing machine according to Figure 1. Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiment Reference is now made to Figure 1, there is provided a shearing machine 10 having a frame 12 for supporting a top beam assembly 14 and a bed assembly 16. The top beam assembly comprises a hydraulic controlled shearing blade for cutting the workpieces of 20 metal sheets, bars or similar. In one embodiment, the shearing blade is in a form of punching die for punching holes on the workpieces. The bed assembly 16 provides a platform 20 to accommodate the workpieces. The shearing blade is moveable vertically along an edge 22 of the platform 20 where the cutting action occurs. The shearing machine 10 further comprises a back gauge assembly 18 associated with the top beam 14. The back gauge 25 assembly 18 can be used for accurately positioning the workpieces so that the blade cuts the workpieces in the correct position. Below the platform 20, a receptacle assembly 30 is provided for receiving and collecting cut workpieces dropping from the platform. The receptacle assembly 30 comprises a differential filter 32 removable connecting to the frame 12 with an adjustable joint 34. The 30 differential filter 32 has one end 36 directed towards the edge 22 of the platform 20 for 3 receiving and collecting workpieces dropping from the platform. The differential filter 32 is inclined downwardly such that another end 36 of the differential filter directs outwardly with respect to the frame 12. On the differential filter 32, there are a plurality of apertures which allow workpieces of certain sizes and shapes pass therethrough. In one embodiment, the 5 number, size and/or shape of the apertures are adjustable. In another embodiment, the differential filter 32 comprises a filter frame 37 having a plurality of spaced apart longitudinal bars 38 connected thereto. The space between the longitudinal bars constitutes the aperture for allowing workpieces of smaller size to pass therethrough. Optionally, the differential filter 32 further comprises latitudinal bars 39 running across the longitudinal bars 38 for .0 reinforcing the structure of the differential filter as well as assisting in defining the number, size and/or shape of the apertures. Under the differential filter 32, there is provided a guiding plate 40 for receiving and collecting workpieces passed through the differential filter 32. The guiding plate 40 is removeably connected to the frame 12 and is inclined downwardly towards the lower front .5 side of the frame 12. At the lower end of the guiding plate 40, there is provided a tray 42 for collecting the filtered workpieces. In one embodiment, the tray 42 can be detached from the frame 12 to provide easy collection of the filtered workpieces. In one embodiment, the guiding plate 40 also has a plurality of apertures for further filtering of the workpieces. In operation, a workpiece is placed on the platform 20 of the bed assembly 14 and .0 pushed towards an edge 22 thereof where a shearing blade of the top beam assembly 16 is dropped vertically to cut the workpiece. In one embodiment, the shearing blade is hydraulically controlled by at the top beam assembly 16. The cut workpiece then drops from the platform 20 onto the differential filter 32. Cut workpiece with size or shape smaller than that of the aperture on the differential filter 32 can pass through the differential filter and 25 drops onto the guiding plate 40. When the shearing machine 10 performs the cutting action, the motor and hydraulic controller will induce vibrations upon the frame 12. The induced vibration on the frame 12 will transpose to the differential filter 32 which is connected to the frame. This vibration can assist the filtering of the cut workpieces on the differential filter. Cut workpiece with a size or shape bigger than that of the aperture on the differential filter 32 30 cannot pass through the aperture and will move towards the end 36 of the differential filter for collection. In this way, cut workpieces of different size or shape can be separated for collection. It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that numerous variations and/or modifications may be made to the invention as shown in the specific embodiments without 35 departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as broadly described. The present 4 embodiments are, therefore, to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive. Any reference to prior art contained herein is not to be taken as an admission that the information is common general knowledge, unless otherwise indicated. 5
