Description

Volleyball Victoria - Beach Volleyball Singles Beach Volleyball Singles Other names: 0 Beach Volley Singles The Rules of the Game The game is essentially a combination beach volleyball and tennis. It was originally a training drill designed by Haydn Ellis to promote all facets of beach volleyball minus blocking and power hitting. 1. The game is played on a full size beach volleyball court 16 x 8m 2. Ball handling rules are the same as beach volleyball in regards to setting, carrying the ball etc 3. Scoring is in accordance with tennis rules (15, 30, 40, deuce etc) 4. A player wins by winning a set (first to 6 games - the same as tennis) 5. In knockout rounds a tie break is held if players get to a 6 all draw at the end of the set 6. In championship rounds the winner must win by 2 games 7. Players alternate ends on odd numbered games 8. Players are either serving or receiving for a given game 9. 'Let' plays from the serve are considered in play 10. There is no second serve in the game. A missed serve results in the opponent scoring the point 11. A maximum of 2 touches is allowed. One chance to control the ball and one to attack 12. Players have the option of attacking on the first play 13. 8 seconds maximum is allowed to put the serve in play once the server sets up to serve 14. The ball must be served after the toss. No catching and re-serving is allowed.
