Abstract

This is a complete electronic safety sign system that can be adapted to all safety signs that will need a greater diversity of display techniques that will have a greater exposer to the motorised traffic and not only motorised but pedestrian traffic as well where a greater visual effect can be achieved by way of chaser lights that continually flicker around the safety message, this system will have a lasting effect on any person who encounters such signs and will ultimately remember the message that the sign displays. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - --- C= / Ln ... .. ... .. .........

Description

AUSTRALIA IP Australia Patents Act 1990 6 06 MAR 2012 RECEIVED COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT ELECTRONIC SAFETY SIGNAGE SYSTEMS The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: (The invention is described in the following statement) 1 SAFETY SIGNAGE SYSTEMS. This invention relates to improvements in safety signage for use in situations that require a safer system that can be illuminated for added visual safety. 1. For many years safety signage has had little or no effect on people who continually disregard those signs that appear on our roadsides mainly this is due to those signs not having enough visual effect and only stays in their minds momentarily. 2. Those problems hopefully will be overcome with the electronic safety signage system having a greater visual effect on our subconscious mind and will allow people to react in time to the warning that the signage displays. 3. In one form of the invention the electronic safety signage system can be hand held to display such things as STOP, GO, SLOW, PEDESTRIAN CROSSING, this hand held device will have a battery fitted to the down bar or handle of the electronic safety sign, the charging of the battery can be either by way of a 240 volt charging system or 12 volt charging system, or solar power. 4. In another form of the invention the electronic safety signage system can be either rectangular, triangular, or round depending on the type of safety signage that is required. 5. Prior art safety signage systems comprise basic safety colours with the words written in a colour that highlights the meaning of the sign, those prior art signs have little or no lasting effect on the viewer's mind which then leads to people not regarding the sign as the mind has forgotten about the sign.
2 6. Safety signage is all too familiar around school crossings and road works areas and also to mark the speed limit of a vehicle at such road works or school areas, this new and innovative electronic signage can be used and utilised in all situations that require safety signage with a greater visual impact. 7. FIG 1 for example shows a typical hand held sign 8. Fig 2 shows the type of safety message. 9. Fig 3 shows the battery located on the hand held shaft. 10. Fig 4 shows the attaching case for the battery. 11. Fig 5 shows the outside perimeter of the sign that can be utilised as a solar panel. 12. Fig 6 shows the LED type of chaser light that is attached to the safety sign. 13. Fig 7 shows the control switch that can turn/off the safety light so attached. 14. Fig B shows the attachment and control area of the safety sign. This type of display sign is only one of many types of signs that the chaser light system can be adapted to but the same principal can be applied to other signs that are either, rectangular, triangular or as displayed round.
