Description

AUSTRALIAN Pants Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT SURFBOARD COVER/SUNG & SUN SHADE The foHWing statementIs a full description of this invention, Including the Best method of performing it known to me: Page lof 6 Surfboard covert Sling & Sun Shade This invention was created due to the limited uses of a surfboard cover. I have found that Constant exposure to the suns rays makes a surfbooard blank/ foam and fibreglass change 5. Colour and start to become broken down. The same was said about my human body in relation to the harsh reflective sun rays at the beach, which limited the amount of time I Could stay exposed to the suns harmful rays. The problem was I could not carry or find the time to set up a tent on the beach, so began the process of creating this invention. I began to redesign a limited standard 10. Surfboard cover which had enough surface area to shade and do the job, into a better product to enjoy and protect me from the harsh elements. The Surfboard cover/sling and Sun shade device was designed unlike other sun shades to reduce the time It takes to set up and lower the temperature underneath or inside by letting the wind passes directly through the device without blowing the unit away. 15. I found that most beach tents and umbrellas, tended to blow away once the wind started to blow too hard. To help hold down the sun shade shelter in strong wind the weight of the surf craft is added Into the shade device that turns it Into both a surfboard cover and a sun shade device, plus the invention is also able to stand freely without the surf craft inside. This invention unlike other inventions accommodates via a standard clip on connection, two 20. Camouflage nets/ shade cloth side sails, which looks good, and helps encourage young people to enter into and become shaded and re-dehydrated from the harmful elements. Unlike other shade tents wind is able to pass through the invention and create a more comfortable and shaded ama which makes it stronger by adding additional diagonal bracing. This ultimately makes the invention more visually desirable to young people. 25. Unlike other tents or sun shade devices, this invention can transform into a surfboard cover or sling and or a beach bag/ sling bag, by removing the back bone/frame, that holds my Invention inclined and upright. The key technical features of thIs invention are as follows. This Invention the surfboard cover/sling and sun shade device is made from a suitable 30. Durable Insulated synthetictarp material, which protects itfron the heat and water penetration, it is encased and sealed by a durable webbing material such as polypropylene. The two longitudinally side lengths that extend the entire outer edge of this invention, have two 25mm diameter polypropylerne webbing sleeves stitched into the surfboard covers outer edges to form a key joint for two 25mm PVC or alloy or fbreglass tubes that have detachable 35. Sand peg attached to each leg or not. Once inserted Into thesewebbing sleaves, they support the invention longitudinally and En a diagonal direction to form part of the invention. The second key feature of this Invention Is the foldable PVC or aluminium legs that fold outward and inward with the aid of three stitched Velcro hinged joints positioned at the upper end of the surfboard cover/sun shade. These legs once extended out and pushed into 40. the sand or soil with detachable sand pegs attached, anchors the invention into a triangulated Inclined position, which braces the invention longitudinally and diagonally. Another feature is the optional use ofthe protective folding nose cone that Is connected and forms part ofthe inventions main body, it rotates outward 180 degrees to hold the surf craft in position, Page 2 of 6 when needed to be used to protect the surf craft nose, plus it stops the surf crafts from being moved in one direction for transporting. When not required the nose cone folds back onto the main body of the invention and is held back with a Velcro latch, thus creating a half surfboard cover/sling device. 5, To transform the sun shade/suriboard cover sling invention into one fully enclosed surfboard cover. One synthetic hag made from, the same material and tailored to suit the main body, is then attached via a belt buckde joints to the Invention and adjusted to suit different sied surf crafts, to help stop the surf crafts tall end and fins from being damaged and removed out of the invention during transportation. When not being used as a fully 10. enclosed surfboard cover. The fin bag can become as a water resistant accessories bag. Another attached feature is the personal goods and send peg bag and sun shade flap, which is part of invention and connected to the main body. it is positioned at the lower end of the invention and rotates out 28D degrees to form a second seal to the personal belongings bag, and then rotates out open when the invention is used as a sun shade to act as a sun 15. shade flap to reduce sun penetration. This intention may be better understood with reference to the Hustrtions of emnbodiments of the inventon which: Figure 1 through to 5 Is the main body/frame 7 of the surbtoard cover sing/sun shade, which Is made from a suitable synthetic tarp material that is water resistant and heat 20. resistant by adding a thin layer of flexible foam material between two layers and sealed at the ends with synthetic webbing tape. The hole area Is nde from separate pieces which are both stitched together to comte a sleeve for a surf craft to pass dIrectly through as shown on figure 2 and 3. Figure 3 shows the optional nose cone 1 model, which Is part of 7 the main body ,folding/hinged backonto itself and restrained and fastened 11.5 25. with a Velcro latch when not needed to form a fully enclosed surf board cover. Figure 4 the other side of figure 3, shows the nose cone in use. Figure 1,2,4 and 5 shows the personal belongings/sand peg/sun protection flap 10, it is part of the main body material 7 and hinges back 180 degrees to form a double seal on die opening access to the bag, which Is held back with a Vecro latch stitched into 7 the main 30. body. Figure 6 and 4shows the use ofthe fin bag 12, which is made front the same material as 7 and attached with a detachable buckle and strap joint 13 on both sides, which also doubles as a trave/accessory bag when not being used asa fully enclosed board cover model. This invention an still operate as a sun shade device and surf craft sling/surfboard cover 35. Figure 3 and orracoes baJslng Figure 5, with or without the fin Bag 12 and the nose cone 11. Te fin bag 12 and nose corne 11can be attached separately If needed as an optional extra accessory. However if the sunshade device isto be used ona rocky outcrops the nose cone model 11 helps to protect the nose area of the surf craft and in transit. The detachable fin bag and nose cane was created to reduce/minmze weight in transit. 40. FIgure 5 shows the main unit 7 doubling as a travel bag/accessories bag and sling device. Ceatingthis is done byfolding the unit in halfand securing all flaps 10 and 11 with their Velcro latches on. Then connecting a shoulder strap to the rings & webbings attachments 16 that are stitched Into the main bodies 7 webbing joint, and used to transport the entire invention, when used as a surf craft cover or travel bag. Page3of6 Figure l and 2 show the PVC or aluminium strut legs 9 with inserted detachable sand pegs clipped on via a removable pined jolnt. These struts are Inserted Into the main body 7 with the ad of a polypropylene webbng eave Joint that are stiched direct to the main body7 webbing ends. The strts 9 which are removable to form Figure 5 the travel bag, give the 5. structure once inserted Into the webbing sleeves, its IncIned and part diagonal strength when being used as a sun shade device. Figure I and 2 shows the folding legs 8 that are made from the same material as 9 and attached to7 via three Velcro atches, which enable the legs to rotated 180 degrees, plus detached from the main unit 7. The legs used to hold the invention in an Incline positioned 10. of choice to create a sun shadeshelter. PVC or aluminium 90 degree angle are used to join the pipe and to give side angle strength. When not In used as a son shade device these legs fold back onto the main unit and secured viaa Velcrolatch 9.5, then the detachable sand pegs removed and placed Into the peg ba 10, then the unit 7 Is converted into a surf craft sling carriWng device. 15. Figure 2 shows the connection of an optional triangulated bracing camouflaged shade netting 14 which can be added to both sides via a clip on connection 15 to the shoulder strap rings 16, then pulled tort and anchored with sand pegs 14,5. Once the two side shade coth sails are added the shaded area Is increased and the, bracing of the Inventlon Is maxlmized. The following changes to the above model were made as follows. 20. Thrugh thebtoksgphase of the aboe Inention, three problems were present, The main problems were In relation to the time it took to erect and dismantle the Invention, the shaded area that was generated by the Invention, and to keep construction cost down by recycling old board cover stock plus make them look more desirable to enter Into, so further adjustments were made to FIgures 1 to 6 to meet these needs. 25 By lcorporatng fig: I side camouflaged shade netting 14 into a permanenttur eto the invention shown In Fig 7 the side shades 20, these shades are made from a variety of durable fabric material, to helpsupportand interact with the three fibreglasstent pole stiffeners 23 which a. stitched into the side shades 2, this forms atrngulated brace systemanda hinged pinjointat 21,17, 8the aluminium foldinglegsjointonfig: 7.The 30 half octagon folding leg system18on Fig:7 am supported, attached and braced to the board cover by a synthetic material type webbing sleave, and a pin hinge joint, created by a metal steaves that slides over the fibreglass poles 23 f 8 :7, which connect to both sides via a auminiumpole or light weight reinforced strap 19 on figure: inserted. This enables the legs to be folded on the hinged joint 21, the fibre glass tent poles which form the pin 35 hinged joint ar retained In position by a sir clip or pin typelatch. The supporting legs can be folded back onto tmselfshown on figure 8 ready to be transport and erected fast. Materials are sauced faster and more cost effective because old surfboard cover stock can be modified by stitching the sun shade frame directly to bond cover outer webbing, Page 4 of 6
