Abstract

The disclosed invention is a breastfeeding bra that incorporates a discreet pattern piece to add support and privacy while feeding. The invention is composed of (Fig A) an outer cup pattern that is fitted with (Fig B) a clip that disengages from the strap using one hand. The outer cup easily drops down leaving (Fig C) a second discreet pattern piece held in place by (Fig D) a slide clip. The discreet piece covers most of the exposed breast leaving only the nipple and aereola exposed for feeding. This discreet piece incorporates a cross over design providing support to the under portion of the breast during feeding as well as providing a privacy cover to the upper portion of the breast. The discreet piece has the ability to (Fig E) easily unclip and drop down, exposing the entire breast for free feeding. The discreet pattern pieces (Figs C and D) are not limited to being incorporated into breastfeeding bras only. This discreet design may be incorporated into any garments that can be used for breastfeeding, such as but not limited to, shirts, camisoles, pajamas, bathing suits, etc.

Description

1 Description The following statement is a full description of this invention: In currently available breast feeding bras and garments, there is limited or no support to the breast making it very difficult to feed without using both hands to juggle the baby and breast into the correct position. Further, any discretion must be achieved by covering both breast and baby with a blanket. This can be uncomfortable and hot for the baby as well as awkward for the mother. This invention is a breastfeeding bra that has been specifically designed for a mother to privately, comfortably and easily breast feed her baby anywhere. The invention may be better understood with reference to Figures A through E. It is composed of (Fig A) an outer cup pattern that is fitted with (Fig B) a clip that disengages from the strap using one hand. That outer cup piece easily drops down leaving a second (Fig C)"discreet" pattern piece which utilizes a crossover design at the bottom of the breast for extra support, held in place by (Fig D) a slide clip. The "discreet" piece covers most of the exposed breast leaving only the nipple and aereola exposed for the baby to latch on for feeding. This "discreet" piece provides support to the under portion of the breast during feeding as well as providing a privacy cover to the upper portion of the breast. The "discreet" piece has the ability to (Fig E) easily unclip and drop down, exposing the entire breast for 'free feeding'. This option may be required for feeding in the immediate days following birth, when milk production is first occurring or when feeding at home where privacy is not an issue. The "discreet" piece easily engages or disengages with one hand. The design of this bra allows a mother to easily feed her baby anywhere in a discreet manner while providing support to the breast, eliminating the need to physically hold the breast to the baby's mouth. Furthermore, the invention of the discreet pattern pieces (Figs C and D) are not limited to being incorporated into breastfeeding bras only. This discreet design may be incorporated into any garments that can be used for breastfeeding, such as but not limited to, shirts, camisoles, pajamas, bathing suits, etc.

Claims

1. A breastfeeding garment that contains an internal pattern piece, utilising a crossover design to support the bottom of each breast.

2. A breastfeeding garment as claimed in claim 1, wherein the garment contains an internal pattern piece covering the exposed area of the breast around the nipple.

3. A breastfeeding garment as claimed in claims 1 and 2, wherein the garment contains an internal pattern piece which is able to disengage from a slide clip and drop down exposing the entire breast.

4. A breastfeeding garment as claimed in claims 1 through 3, wherein the internal pattern piece is fitted with a slide clip on one piece and a fabric loop on the other piece to easily engage and disengage using one hand.

5. A breastfeeding garment as claimed in claims 1 through 4, wherein the internal pattern piece designed to create support and privacy can be incorporated into of any sort of breastfeeding clothing; including but not limited to, bras, shirts, camisoles, pajamas, bathing suits, etc.
