Abstract

The disclosed health warning cigarette packet is a packet with a recordable, ribbon switched sound diode 2, with a health warning stored on it, built into the inside rear wall 4 of the packet. The ribbon switched sound diode 2 is secured in a position on the rear inside wall 4 of the packet such that the switching ribbon of the diode straddles across the hinging fold 3 of the attached fold back lid I and is securely attached either side of the hinging fold 3 thus each time the lid 1 is opened it causes the ribbon switched sound diode to switch on and emit the stored health warning message on the diode 2 and to turn off when the lid I is returned to the closed position.

COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT HEALTH WARNING CIGARETTE PACKET The following statement is a full description of the invention, including the best method of performing it known to me.

1. HEALTH WARNING CIGARETTE PACKET For many years packets for cigarettes have been used solely to carry and deliver cigarettes. This invention has been specifically devised to provide a cigarette container that will emit a spoken warning delivery, about the damage to health caused by smoking, whenever the packet lid is open. This method of delivery overcomes previous 5. impediments to the delivery of a spoken health warning to a target whose location is variable, unpredictable and transitory at any given time. A health warning cigarette packet in accordance with the invention will have a recordable, ribbon switched, sound diode, containing a stored health warning message, 10. built into the inside rear wall of the packet and specifically positioned such that the switching ribbon straddles the creased hinging fold of the packets attached fold back lid. Thus, each time the packet lid is opened, it will cause the ribbon switch to switch the diode on to emit the stored message and switch it off when the lid is closed. 15. The health warning cigarette packet is preferably made from cardboard, however, other materials can be used, for example plastic with paper lining. The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention. 20. Figure 1 is an oblique elevation of the health warning cigarette packet with the fold back lid in the open position and showing the recordable ribbon switched sound diode in place straddling the hinging fold of the packet lid. 25.
