Description
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A bathroom lighting device which can be selectively positioned onto a toilet to provide light guidance at nighi to the user when approaching the toilet activated by a motion sensor switch and with the additional ability to provide UV light sanitation on the toilet surfaces for improved sanitation. A battery powered LED light array with integrated timing circuit can be selectively positioned on a toilet and provide sequential timed illumination of the LED display based on integration motion detection of a user approaching the toilet. DESCRI TiON OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is a top plan view of the illumination device of the invention. Figure 2 is a front elevational view thereof. Figure 3 is a rear perspective view of the iiumination device of the invention with the access cover closed. Figure 4 is a rear perspective with the access cover open. Figure 5 is an electrical circuit diagram illustrating the control activation timing and delay sequence of the illumination device. Figure 6 is a partial perspective graphic illustration showing placement of the illumination device on the toilet seat ild of a toilet with the seat raised. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring to figures i and 6 of the drawings, a safety toilet light 10 of the invention can be seen for placement on the underside lid L of a toilet T to 2 provide illumination and sanitation of the toilet pre and post use as will be described in greater detail hereinafter. The toilet light 10 has an annular case 11 with a compound continuous sidewall 12 having a lower vertical surface 12A and a contoured upper surface 12B positioning to a top planar portion 13 which is recessed in relation therewith. A proximity sensor cell 14 is positioned on the top portion 13 with a cover lens 15 thereover. An illumination array 16 is located within an arcuate recessed portion 17 in the sidewall 12 bridging both the vertical surface 12A and the contoured upper surface 12B with a transparent corresponding contoured cover 18 thereover which is in planar relation with the associated sidewall surfaces as hereinbefore described. The illumination array 16 is comprised of a center general illumination LED 19 which will provide general illumination for the user at night upon activation. A pair of UV emitting LED's 20 and 21 are positioned on either side of said general lighting LED 19 and generate UV radiation light which is known for its germ killing properties and which will provide an overlapping projection UV light field onto the toilet's T user engagement surfaces imparting a germ killing UV radiation thereon. The illumination array 16 is controlled by an activation control circuit 22, best seen graphically in figure 5 of the drawings with a source of independent power by multiple batteries 23A and 23B positioned in corresponding battery 3 receiving compartments 24A and 24B located within the case 11 accessible by a removable cover base plate 25 on its underside as illustrated in closed position in figure 3 of the drawings and in open removed access position in figure 4 of the drawings. The battery holder configurations 24A and 24B provide for the batteries insertion and electrical connection with the activation control circuit 22 which is based on an integrated computer chip 26 which can provide a variety of inter-related light control and sensing control means. As noted, the control circuit 22 provides for the activation of the LED's 19, 20 and 21 in response to the proximity photo cell detection sensor 14 that will only activate accordingly when the unit is in the dark and upon sensing movement in the proximity of the device such as a user approaching the toilet T mounted thereon. Once activated, both the center illumination LED 19 and the UV LED's 20 and 21 are powered providing a combination illumination source. A timing circuit (within the activation control circuit 22) will then delay LED power cut-off until no further motion is detected and a preset delay time has elapsed. Additionally, the timing delay circuit can be preset to delay power cut-off of the UV LED's 21 and 22 beyond that of the illumination LED 19 to afford an optimal time exposure of the UV light radiation on the user effective surfaces of the toilet, if so desired. The controller activation circuit 22 is mounted on an integrated circuit board 27 which is correspondingly positioned between the respective battery receiving compartments 24A and 24B and is in 4 communication with the LED illumination array 16, the proximity photo cell motion detector 14 and the power source defined as the batteries 23A and 23B. Referring now back to figure 3 of the drawings, an adhesive pad 28 for selectively mounting the safety toilet light 10 of the invention is secured to the removable base plate 25 and has an associated release sheet 29 thereon which once removed exposes an outfacing adhesive surface S for, as noted, selective attachment to the underside of the toilet lid L surface so as to be unencumbered by the toilet seat S when raised as illustrated generally in figure 6 of the drawings. It will thus be seen that a new and useful toilet illumination and sanitation device has been illustrated and described and it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention. 5
