Australia 2077 Title Caravan Bathroom Module Date 18 November 15, 2010 The following statement is a full description of this invention, Including the best method of performing it known to us: -2 Field of Invention The present invention relates to caravans, trailers and the like. Object of the Invention 5 The object of the present invention is to provide a bathroom module to a caravan, trailer or the like, without increasing the length of said caravan and at the same time providing an aerodynamic front to reduce wind resistance when the caravan is in motion. 10 Summary of the Invention According to one aspect of the invention there is provided a bathroom module arrangement for a caravan, trailer or the like; said module adapted for positioning substantially on a forward "A frame part of said caravan, trailer or the like. 15 .Preferably, said bathroom module is shaped so as to reduce wind resistance when said caravan, trailer or the like is under tow by said motor vehicle. Preferably, said module is substantially coextensive in a vertical plane at the 20 rearmost end of said module with said front portion of the main body of the caravan, trailer on the like. Preferably said rear wall of said bathroom module extends transversely across the width of said front portion of the caravan and providing a door to the main 25 living area of said caravan, trailer or the like from the said bathroom. Preferably, side walls of said module curve inwardly and forward from said rearmost end too respective outer edges of a front wall of said module, said front wall located at an intermediate position along said"A" frame between the 30 rearmost end and the-apex of said "A" frame.
Preferably, said front wall of said module extends upwardly from said "A" frame to a point intermediate said "A" frame and a plane defined by said roof of said caravan. 5 Preferably, upper edges of said side walls curve forwardly and downwardly from said roof of said caravan trailer or the like to respective upper corners of said front wall. Preferably, said module is provided with a curved roof portion extending 10 forwardly and downwardly from a front edge of said roof of said caravan trailer or the like, to an upper edge of said front wall of said module; and wherein side edges of said curved roof portion coincide with said upper edges of said walls when said roof portion is in a first closed position; and side walls, said front wall and said roof portion providing an aerodynamic efficient enclosure. 15 Preferably, said roof portion is adapted for rotation about a hinge adjoining said front edge of said roof of said caravan, trailer or the like, between the first closed and second open position. 20 Preferably, said roof portion assumes an upwardly and rearward tilted attitude when in said second open position, so as to provide a degree of headroom to a user of said bathroom module than headroom in said main living area. Preferably, rotation of said roof portion from said first position to said second 25 position is assisted by gas struts. Preferably, impervious flexible sheeting is stretched between said side edges and front edge of said roof portion, and said upper edges of said side walls and said upper edge of said front wall of said bathroom module, so as to provide a 30 weather-proof enclosure when said upper portion of said roof portion is in said second position.
4 Preferably an insect proof zippered window is provided in the uppermost portion of the said flexible sheeting above front wall panel such as to be covered by the overhanging portion of the roof panel. 5 Preferably said upper portion of the front wall, when opened at a height sufficiently to allow an upright posture of a user of said bathroom portion; said upper portion of the front wall substantially covers floor area of said bathroom portion. 1 Preferably, said bathroom portion is provided with shower, hand basin and toilet facilities, and storage space below said hand basin. Preferably said portable toilet facility is removable from outside of said caravan trailer or the like via a hinged external door. 15 The invention has been described by way of non-limiting example only and many modifications may be made thereto without departing from the spirit of the invention described. 20 Brief Description of the Invention A preferred embodiment of the drawings will now be described with reference to the drawings in which: 25 Referring to figure I is shown a perspective of a caravan, trailer or the like 11 the bathroom module 10 in the closed transportable mode with roof panel 15 hinged at 17 to the front portion of the caravan, trailer or the like; such as to coincide with side panels 14 and front panel 18.
