This document describes several designs that have been developed for 20 treating water as it is drawn from the bottle through the filter, each with a specific purpose and application. In most instances combined with a unique filter as well as a unique mount, valve and closure to affix the filter to a wide variety of internationally available bottles. The reference to any prior art in this specification is not, and should not be 25 taken as an acknowledgement or any form of suggestion that the referenced prior art forms part of the common general knowledge in Australia. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Object of the Invention 30 It is an aim of certain embodiments of the invention to provide an alternative bottle top with filter which has improved functionality, enhanced aesthetic appeal, is generally less complex in construction and thus relatively inexpensive to manufacture compared with existing bottle top filters.
2 Disclosure of the Invention In one broad form the invention resides in a bottle top for a bottle, said bottle top having a recloseable opening portion arranged to be disposed externally of the bottle and an integral filter portion arranged to be disposed internally of the bottle. 5 Preferably the reclosable opening portion includes a smoothly contoured moveable closure section. Suitably the filter portion has an elongate body, preferably cylindrical, which includes a plurality of apertures. The apertures may be of any suitable shape and arrangement, such as circumferentially extending slots. 10 If required, the bottle top with filter may further include an outer hemispherical protective cover for the movable closure section. 4 DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION In a first embodiment of the invention, as illustrated in FIGs 1 to 4, the bottle top includes a reclosable opening portion having a smoothly contoured movable closure section, a skirt section, and a filter portion having a apertured cylindrical 5 section. The cylindrical section is elongate and has a diameter relatively smaller than its axial length. In the first embodiment, the apertures may be of any suitable configuration, as depicted by the dashed outline in FIGs 1 and 2. The bottle top of the first embodiment is shown attached to a first bottle in FIGs 5 to 8, which bottle is further illustrated in FIGs 9 and 10. The first bottle 10 includes an attachment formation on a neck portion thereof, which might be a screw threaded arrangement, as depicted in FIGs 9 and 10. When attached to a bottle, the reclosable opening portion of the bottle top is disposed externally of the bottle, whilst the filter portion is disposed internally of the bottle. It will also be appreciated that the skirt portion of the bottle top may include, for example on an internal surface thereof, 15 a co-operating attachment formation. A second bottle is depicted in FIGs 11 to 14, including in combination with the bottle top and filter in FIGs 13 and 14 wherein the bottle top is attached to the neck portion of the second bottle. Similarly a third bottle is depicted in FIGs 15 to 18, including in combination 20 with the bottle top and filter, which bottle top is shown attached to the third bottle in FIGs 17 and 18. A fifth bottle is depicted in FIGs 19 and 20, whilst the bottle top with filter is shown attached in FIGs 25 and 26. FIGs 21 to 24 show a further combination of a fourth bottle and the bottle top 25 and filter attached thereto. Similarly, FIGs 27 and 28 show the bottle top of the first embodiment attached to a sixth bottle. A second embodiment of the bottle top with filter is illustrated in FIGs 29 to 32. 30 In the second embodiment of the bottle top, there are included apertures in the cylindrical section of the filter portion which take the form of arrays of circumferentially extending slots. As suggested by the first embodiment, it will be appreciated that the apertures may in other embodiments be of any suitable shape 5 and arrangement, including both regular and irregular shapes provided the cylindrical section has adequate structural integrity. The second embodiment further includes an optional outer hemispherical cover which protects the recloseable opening section of the bottle top, as best appreciated from FIGs 29 and 31. 5 Finally two additional bottle illustrations are included, for combination with either embodiment of the bottle top herein; being the fourth bottle in FIGs 33 and 34 and the sixth bottle in FIGs 35 and 36. It is to be understood that the above embodiments have been provided only by 10 way of exemplification of this invention, and that further modifications and improvements thereto, as would be apparent to persons skilled in the relevant art, are deemed to fall within the broad scope and ambit of the present invention described herein, illustrated in the drawings and defined in the claims which follow.
