Description

AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT BEAM FOR WAKEBOARD TOWER The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it know to me. Mr James Odell IP AUSTRALIA RECEIVED 21 JUL 2010 ANERRA - FEP BEAM FOR WAKEBOARD TOWER A wakeboard tower is a frame attached to a boat for the function of towing persons riding water sports equipment. The function of the wakeboard tower frame has changed over 5 the years with attachments added to the frame. Such as storage racks, speaker casings with speakers, bimini covers, Lights, motorised rope winders, video camera, mirrors to name a few. All these added attachments has changed the construction of the towers requiring larger sized tubing, with the increase weight and stress placed on the frame. The changes have caused some towers to now be a bit unstable with movement if 10 overloaded with accessories. The invention beam for a wakeboard tower has been specially devised in order to provide improved stability, strength and stylised look of some wakeboard towers. The 15 invention can be made in multiple lengths, telescopic to suit different widths, shapes and styles of wakeboard tower frames. You can make them a custom length and shape to exact fit the frame. 20 The beam for wakeboard tower frame in accordance with this invention comprises of a number of four major parts to make the side bar universal in fitting between the front and rear legs of the frame. 25 The invention beam for wakeboard tower can be used in multiple ways when attaching to a wakeboard tower frame. The most common position used is attaching and joining the beam between the front and rear leg on each side of the wakeboard tower frame. ( fig 5.) 30 There are other positions for installation adding strength and stability to the wakeboard tower frame. The beam can be placed between two sections of the frame, eg across a corner, from a side bar to either front or rear leg to name a few. It could be place anywhere as the clamps and fittings rotate into position required by the customer. 35 The invention beam, can be made universal, telescopic or custom made and fixed positi n. 40 45 Described below is the beam used in the most common way between the front and rear legs of the tower when there is no side bar on the existing tower frame. The invention beam is used and attached to both sides of the wakeboard tower frame. 5 Each side comprised off four major parts see page 1. ( drawings) Part 1: Stylised curved shaped tube length 10 Part 2: Two x machined fittings welded on both ends of the tube. Part 3: Two x machined fittings which insert and bolt into part 2. Part 4: Two x machined clamps to go around the legs & bolt to Part 3. 15 The invention is made from Aluminium, with stainless steel bolts and hardware. It is possible to use other materials to make the invention, aluminium or stainless steel is the best. 20 The invention beam for wakeboard tower can be better understood with reference to the attached drawings. Page 1 Drawings 25 The four major parts needed for the side beam, Fig 1: Part 1 with 2 x part 2 welded on each end of Part 1. Fig 2: Exploded view of Parts 1,2,3,4 30 Fig 3: The beam attached together, using all parts 1-4. Page 2 Drawings of wakeboard tower 35 Fig 4: Side view of a wakeboard tower frame Fig 5: Side view of a wakeboard tower frame with the invention beam attached to the wakeboard tower frame using Part 4 to clamp to the front and rear legs. 40 The beam is capable of adjustment in angle and movement to the correct position between the front and rear leg of different wakeboard towers. Either up, down, left and right. The shape of the clamp allows for the rotation around the tower leg to be angled to to 45 the rear leg. The clamp also has a mounting surface for Part 3, which is in a vertical plane. Therefor allows the beam to move up and down to suit the attachment. Part 3 is inserted into the part 2 welded on the ends of the tube. This allows the tube and fi ing to rotate into the correct position to attach to the other clamp on the rear leg. 50

Claims (6)

  1. 2. A beam for wakeboard tower as claimed in 1, where in the adjustable beam can attach to the front leg and rear leg of a wakeboard tower. 15 3. A beam for a wakeboard tower as claimed in 1 and 2, where the beam can be adjusted to suit different shape wakeboard tower frames. The front can be higher and the rear attachment point lower.
  2. 4. A beam for a wakeboard tower as claimed in 1,2 and 3, where the beam can be 20 adjusted left and right using the two parts 3 & 4, to allow for the side beam to side the required setting.
  3. 5. A beam for a wakeboard tower as claimed in 1,2, 3 and 4, where the beam is attached between the front and rear leg of a wakeboard tower. It strengthens and 25 stabilizes the tower when attached in position.
  4. 6. A beam for a wakeboard tower as claimed in 1-5, where the wakeboard tower is required to fold down, the side beam can be detached at the point between part 3 and part 4 on the rear legs to allow the tower to fold easy. 30
  5. 7. A beam for a wakeboard tower as claimed in 1-6 the beam can be attached to various positions between two sections of the wakeboard tower using the clamps and universal fittings to lock the two sections together. 35 8. A beam for wakeboard tower as claimed in 1-7 is best made out of either aluminium or stainless, it is capable of being made out of other materials.
  6. 8. A beam for a wakeboard tower as claimed in 1-8 substantially as herein before described with reference to figures in the accompanying drawings showing the parts on 40 Page 1 and the invention beam. Page 2 also shows a side view of the invention in position on a wakeboard tower. 45 mes Odell 50A 7| D%/0 50
