Description
1 Description The invention is described in the following statement: Wrapping /swaddling babies for sleep is a time tested effective technique for helping babies (new born to several months old) become accustomed to sleeping outside of the mother???s womb. The problems faced by parents though have been: a)Finding a quick and simple method that could produce a consistent wrap effect b)Finding a means of ensuring the baby could no easily wriggle out of wrap, completely or even just the hands and arms which then allows them to scratch themselves and wake up. Interrupting their (and their parents) sleep c)When nappies need to be changed the whole wrap needs to come off and be put back increasing the stress experienced by the baby who has already been woken from their sleep by a wet / dirty nappy. The bubeewrap provides a solution to all three points listed above by keeping the wrap relatively small and utilising Velcro (or similar) fastening tabs a consistent wrap tension can be achieved. The integrated arm pockets effectively ???trap??? the baby???s arms between the two layers thereby preventing the baby getting their arms out and waking up/scratching themselves. An added benefit is that mittens are no longer needed for sleeping. The ???pillow case??? style fold up leg pouch secures the bottom of the wrap preventing the baby from kicking the wrap loose, yet it can easily be opened to check / change the nappy while the top portion of the wrap remains secure. The wrap itself is triangular in shape, the wider part of the triangle being where the baby???s head is. It is made of two layers of lightweight breathable material (currently cotton but other materials can be used e.g. linen, bamboo, hemp etc). The inner layer has four small ???slots??? which are the arm pockets near the top (head) of the baby. The pockets are spaced at different widths to allow for the growth of the baby. These slots are the arm pockets where the user inserts the baby???s arms before wrapping the baby. The baby???s arms are held securely between the inner and outer layers of the wrap. There is also a single vertical strip of hook (of hook and loop fastener) on one edge of the inner layer. The outer layer has three horizontal strips of loop (of hook and loop fastener) to allow the wrap to be secured by the hook portion 2 on the inner layer. The outer layer also has a relatively (to the size of the wrap) large rectangular pocket at the bottom (apex) of the triangle. This is similar to a pillow case that is folded up once the baby is wrapped to secure the legs.
