Description
AUSTRALIA Patents Act 2009 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION STANDARD PATENT ATM GAS SHIELD The following statement is a full description of "ATM Gas Shield" invention including the simplest method of its construction. 1 ATM GAS SHIELD More and more automatic-teller-machines (ATMs) are being targeted by thieves and vandals. Most common method of accessing internals of an ATM machine is to inject flammable gas into the targeted machine, and then ignite the explosive mixture of gas and oxygen. With "ATM Gas Shield" ATM machines will no longer be subject to explosion by gas-injection method. It will prevent damage to property and in some cases personal injury. It can also be used to help the society by catching the criminals in act. An "ATM Gas Shield" system, in its simplest configuration, shall have one or more gas-detector(s) for detection of flammable-gases, and a reservoir of non-flammable gas. With the gas-detector(s) strategically placed, at a time of flammable-gas presence, the "ATM Gas Shield" shall fill up the ATM machine with its non-flammable gas to exhale the injected flammable-gas and also, to starve the remaining flammable-gas from oxygen to minimise or totally eliminate the possibility of an explosion. An alarm or a remote distress call system may also be included to be activated at the time of detection of gas injection into the ATM machine. 2
Claims (7)
1. ATM Gas Shield comprising of one or more gas-sensors and non flammable gas.
2. ATM Gas Shield of claim 1 wherein a gas and/or liquid is used for prevention of explosion.
3. ATM Gas Shield of claim 1 wherein alarms are incorporated in the system.
4. ATM Gas Shield of claim 1 wherein surveillance or monitoring devices are incorporated to the system.
5. ATM Gas Shield of claim 1 wherein door-locking mechanisms are included.
6. ATM Gas Shield of claim 1 used on automatic teller machines (ATMs)
7. ATM Gas Shield of claim 1 used in conjunction with electronic and/or mechanical construction to control the valve of the non-flammable gas. 3
