Description

Regulation 3.2 AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Name of Applicant: GREGORY ALAN PAGE Actual Inventor(s): GREGORY ALAN PAGE Address for Service: SANDERCOCK & COWIE 180B SLADEN STREET CRANBOURNE VICTORIA 3977 Invention Title: FISHING LINE RIG TIDY - 1 - - la TITLE: FISHING LINE RIG TIDY FIELD OF THE INVENTION 5 This invention concerns fishing tackle and particularly accessories for the convenient storage of fishing line rigs. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 10 It is common practice for anglers to prepare rigs in readiness to attach to a line. The rig Fc2009-07-08.H\Snecifications\naae.innoat.wnd. I -2 is a length of line with a hook at one end and a loop or swivel at the opposite end. The swivel or loop are attached with a blood knot and the hook is held by a second blood knot. The rigs may be 600mm in length using hooks of different sizes, for example #4, #8 and #12. 5 These tend to tangle in a tackle box and if wrapped around a jar or other item in the box they detach and form an untidy net like mess. Retrieving one for use can be time consuming. 10 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The apparatus aspect of the invention provides a rig tidy for multiple fishing line rigs, comprising a panel having a series of mutually spaced anchors for retaining an elastic band when attached to the loop or swivel of a rig and a like series of apertures in the 15 panel for engagement by the hooks of the rigs. In a preferred embodiment, the panel has two opposite edges and the anchors project like teeth from one edge. The teeth project from the opposite edge in order to separate the rigs. The apertures are slots arranged in rows between the two opposite edges. Another 20 edge has at least one pair of hooks for storing elastic bands. The panel may be made of plywood, sheet metal or plastic. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS 25 One embodiment of the invention is now described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is a diagram of a fishing line rig. 30 Figure 2 is a plan of the tidy. Fc2009-07-08,H:\Specifications\page.innpat.wpd,2 -3 Figure 3 is a view of the tidy from one end. Figure 4 is a view of the tidy from the opposite end. 5 Figure 5 is a diagram of the loop of the rig engaged by an elastic band ready to be transferred to the tidy. DETAILED DESCRIPTION WITH RESPECT TO THE DRAWINGS 10 Referring now to the drawings, in Figure 1 swivel 2 is tied to filament line 4 by knot 6 and hook 8 is tied to line 4 by knot 10. A 6mm sheet of polyurethane is laser cut into the profile of Figure 2, being 400 x 115mm. The bottom edge 12 is straight whereas the top edge 14 has two major cutouts 16 and two minor cutouts 18 which create three pairs of hooks 20. One end 22 has a series of nine convex protrusions 24 separated by eight 15 concave gaps 26, the gaps being somewhat wider than the protrusions. At the opposite end the edge has a series of twenty teeth 28. The protrusions act as pegs over which an elastic band is hooked while the teeth 28 act as separators imposing a parallel path on the rigs as they are wound around the panel. 20 The hooks lodge in slots 30 and the slots are arranged in three rows of three 32 separated by two rows 34 of two slots giving a staggered array across the face of the panel. Figure 5 shows an elastic band 36 embracing loop 38. Band 36 is hooked over a protrusion, wrapped around the panel under tension and the hook is inserted into a 25 convenient slot. The band is thereby stretched and the rig remains in place. The hook sizes are marked enabling grouping and "RUBBER BANDS" indicate to the user the purpose of hooks 20. I have found the advantages of the above embodiment to be: 30 1. The tidy stores both rigs and the elastic bands needed to store the rigs.
-4 2. The tidy indicates the hook size. 3. Individual rigs are mutually separated and tangling is avoided. 5 It is to be understood that the word "comprising" as used throughout the specification is to be interpreted in its inclusive form, ie. use of the word "comprising" does not exclude the addition of other elements. It is to be understood that various modifications of and/or additions to the invention can 10 be made without departing from the basic nature of the invention. These modifications and/or additions are therefore considered to fall within the scope of the invention. Fc2009-07-08,H:\Specifications\page.innoat.wpd.4
