Description
ADAPTIVE PYJAMAS FOR HOSPITAL USE For many years patients in hospital have worn conventional pyjamas / gowns/ nighties provided by the hospitals or by themselves. Depending on the reason for hospitalisation the wearing of these pyjamas can be difficult or impossible. The inability to be clothed properly can result in a feeling of humiliation and a loss of dignity. This invention has been especially devised so that all patients can easily be clothed in pyjamas, even those who have extensive injuries or numerous tubes or catheters hooked up to them. The pyjamas in accordance to this invention comprise of a number of articles of clothing, each with seams that can be unfastened with clips / Velcro / or similar to allow: " Apertures for the passage of tubing related to infusions, catheters and drains etc " Quick and easy access to medical apparatus on the body such as stomas and wound dressings e Easy and quick dressing of clients resulting in less frustration for clients and nursing / other staff " Clients to be dressed that would otherwise be unable to be dressed, and to be dressed in a way that improves their feeling of well being and worth. The collared shirt garment has seams that open from the shoulder to the end of the sleeve on the top side 1 and from the end of the bottom side of the sleeve down to the hem line 2. It also has a buttoned opening down the front of the shirt 3. Figure 1 shows the front of the collared shirt garment. Figure 2 shows the back view of this garment. This garment can be made with long sleeves or short sleeves. Figure 3 shows one side of garment 1, front view. It shows seams I and 2 unfastened. Garments can be made with clips, Velcro or similar so as to allow seams to unfasten. The sleeveless top garment has seams that open on the shoulder 4 and from under the arm to the hem 5. Figure 4 shows the front view of this garment. Figure 5 shows the back view of this garment. Figure 6 shows a front view of half of the garment with seams 4 and 5 unfastened. The T-shirt and nightie garment A have seams that open from the shoulder to the end of the sleeve on the top side 6 and from the end of the bottom side of the sleeve down to the hem line 7. Figure 7 shows the front view of the T-shirt/nightie garment. Figure 8 shows the back view of the T-shirt / nightie garment. Figure 9 shows a front view of half the garment with seams 6 and 7 unfastened. The nightie garment B has seams that open from the neck line through to the end of the sleeve on the top side 8 and from the end of the bottom side of the sleeve down to the hem line 9. The nightie can be completely detached into two separate parts. Figure 10 shows a front view of this nightie. Figure 11 shows a back view. Figure 12 shows half the garment front view with seams 8 and 9 opening. The female boxer shorts have side seams that unfasten from the waist band to the bottom hem 10. The inside leg seam 11 also unfastens. These boxers can be completely detached into two separate parts. Figure 13 shows a front view. Figure 14 shows a back view. The male boxer shorts have side seams that unfasten from the waist band to the bottom hem 12. The inside leg seam also unfastens 13. These boxers can be completely detached into two separate parts. The male boxer shorts also have a conventional opening at the front. Figure 15 shows a front view and figure 16 shows a back view. The three quarter and full length pants have side seams that unfasten from the waist band to the bottom hem 14. The inside leg seam also unfastens.These three quarter and full length pants can be completely detached into two separate parts. Figure 17 shows a front view of this garment and figure 18 shows a back view. The garments can be sewn from any suitable fabric of choice.
Claims (2)
- 2. The unfastenable seams on the garments provide for apertures to allow the transgression of tubing, drains, catheters and similar, meaning that persons previously unable to be clothed due to such devices can now be clothed properly.
- 3. The design of each garment allows medical apparatus such as wound dressings, stomas and drains to be quickly and easily accessed for attention and care.
