Description

1 Description This invention relates to the protection of goods stored and carried within a rear bicycle basket. For many bicycle riders, there is always the fear of having their items -handbag, laptop, shopping - stolen in transit, falling out whilst riding or being damaged by the elements (rain, dust, sun, pollution). This rear bicycle basket cover proposes to provide simple but essential protection for the rider's goods from these various conditions. Other devices which have previously been proposed to protect goods involve the use of a basket within a basket, side panniers or the rider having to use a backpack. These devices require the rider to place their goods within another accessory rather than the rear basket already attached to their bicycle. They are bulky to carry and store and expensive. The problem of having to purchase an extra accessory is overcome by the present invention, which provides protection from the various conditions by easily slipping the basket cover over the rear bicycle basket. The invention comprises a piece of weather resistant nylon shaped to fit a standard rear bicycle basket. The cover uses elastic to grip the sides of the rear bicycle basket. Attached to the underside of the bicycle cover is a small bag with a draw string made of the same nylon which is used to store the bicycle cover in and can easily be carried in the riders handbag, pocket or carry bag.

Claims (4)

1.The rear bicycle basket device comprises a weather resistant material shaped to fit the standard rear bicycle basket. The shape of the material will be rectangular.
2.The cover will have an elastic border that will enable it to be easily slipped over the rear bicycle basket and grip the sides of the basket.
3.The material for the cover will be made from a type of nylon
4.A small bag made from the same nylon material with a drawstring is attached to the comer of the basket cover. The bag is designed so that the basket cover can easily be placed into the pocket bag when not in use and for storage.
