Description

1 DESCRIPTION Sharpeye Squaring Tool INTRODUCTION: I first thought of this idea back in 2002, I am an electrician by trade and have installed many fixtures that had to be squared on ceilings parallel to walls. When working alone this process can be time consuming and could easily become quite difficult. So for the people who work alone or their colleagues whos eyes cannot be trusted this is for you! USES: The main use for this tool is mainly on ceiling work when trying to square up fit-out objects. For example a square air-conditioning vent or rectangular light fitting. Both of these examples would have squared off a reference wall to look precise. WORKING DESCRIPTION: The look of this tool will be simular to a small rectangular spirit level. At each end there will be an ultrasonic measuring device built in on one face of the tool. The two measuring devices will talk to each other with the distance to the fixed reference (wall). At each end there will be an LED displaying which way the tool has to be rotated to achieve a fixed square. Once the final squared tolerance is achieved the indicating LEDi 2i 2s on the ends will both light, and admit a beeping sound. The unit will have a laser built in so you can physically see where the tool is achieving its reference from.
2 The unit will have to belong enough to spread out its sensitivity. If it is to short the sensitivity will be to great. The tool length will have to be around 500mm long and weigh as little as possible so it can be easily handled. There will be a magnetic strip running along the back side of the tool, which will be able to hold the tools own weight if placed against a metallic fixture for easier use. There will be minium range for the use of the tool from the fixed reference point but there will have to be a maximum of about 15m. NAME: The name of the tool is the SHARPEYE SQUARING TOOL.
