Description

5 AUSTRALIA PATENTS ACT 1990 10 COMPLETE SPECIFICATIONS 15 TITLE: CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FOR THE ENGINE 20 25 30 2 CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FOR THE ENGINE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 5 1. Field of the invention The present invention relates to a clutch assembly for the engine, and more particularly, a clutch assembly whose component parts are compactly stacked up in a common space so as to save the space occupied in the Go Kart Engine and shorten the length of the output shaft of the engine. 10 2. Description of the Prior Art In an ordinary Go Kart Engine engine mechanism, the component parts of the clutch assembly such as a flywheel with its bearing and the rotating gear mechanism etc. are laid in a line along the output shaft of the engine one after 15 another. As a result, the output shaft thereof becomes so long to operate the engine. By so, the space in the Go Kart Engine to accommodate such a long output shaft along with the clutch assembly must be considerably large that is disadvantageous especially to a Go Kart Engine which does not allow ample 20 room for its engine mechanism such as a racer or a sport utility Go Kart Engine. For this defect noticeable on the prior art, an improvement is seriously required. The inventor of the present invention have put in very much effort on this problem for years to studying and improving this defect and come up with a 25 novel clutch assembly for engine to eliminate the aforesaid demerit.
3 SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The object of the present invention is to provide a clutch assembly whose 5 component parts can be compactly stacked up in a common space so as to save the space occupied in the Go Kart Engine and shorten the length of the output shaft of the engine. To achieve the above object, the clutch assembly of the present invention includes a flywheel with its bearing, a rotation ring and a follower gear unit. Along 10 the circumferential edge of the flywheel there are provided with several press boards each of them attached with a piece of lining, and the axle of the flywheel is conjoined to an output shaft of the engine via the bearing. The rotation ring has an opening in its center portion. Around the opening there are several mounting holes provided on the circumferential edge of the rotation ring so as to fasten a follower 15 gear unit on the rotation ring. A gear wheel at the front end of the follower gear unit is emerged out of the opening of the rotation ring. A detention slot is formed behind the gear wheel to settle the flywheel axle and the bearing in it. Then afterwards a detent bolt is screw combined with a nipple at the front end thereof. Finally the whole structure including the flywheel and rotation wheel is enclosed 20 by a housing which being fastened to a yoke of the engine. These features and advantages of the present invention will be fully understood and appreciated from the following detailed description of the accompanying Drawings. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS 25 4 Fig. 1 is an exploded three dimensional view of the present invention. Fig. 2A and Fig. 2B are partial exploded views for illustrating how to assemble the clutch assembly of the present invention. 5 Fig. 3 is a prospective view of the present invention. Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the present invention. Fig. 5A and Fig. 5B are illustrative views demonstrating the operation of the present invention. 10 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring to Fig. 1 through Fig. 4 the clutch assembly of the present invention comprises an engine housing 1, a flywheel 2, a flywheel bearing 3, a rotation ring 4, a follower gear unit 5, a nipple 7, a detent bolt 8, and a housing 8. 15 The engine housing 1 has an engine output shaft 11 extended therefrom. The flywheel 2 is conjoined to the output shaft 11 with a projected rib 111 of the output shaft 11 inserted into a detention slot 231 of the flywheel axle 23. The front end of the output shaft 11 has a threaded portion 112 and several detention holes 12 are formed around the circumferential edge of an yoke of the engine housing 1. 20 The flywheel 2 has several press boards 21 provided around the circumferential edge each of them being affixed with a piece of lining 22. A detention slot 231 is formed in the flywheel axle 3 so as to conjoin the axle 3 with the output shaft 11 of the engine housing 1. The flywheel bearing 3 is sleeved over the axle 23 of the flywheel 2. 25 The rotation ring 4 has an opening 41 formed on its center portion with 5 several mounting holes 42 provided around the circumferential edge thereof. The follower gear unit 5 has a gear wheel 51 at its front side and a detention slot 52 formed at the rear side. Several mounting holes 53 are provided around the circumferential edge of the follower gear unit 5 to be in alignment with the 5 corresponding mounting holes 42 of the rotating ring 4 so as to conjoin the rotating ring 4 with the follower gear unit 5 as shown in Fig. 2A. A nipple 7 is screw combined with the output shaft 11 with its interior threaded portion 71 engaged to the threaded portion 112 of the output shaft 11 at the rear side thereof such that the rear end surface of the nipple 7 is stongly in 10 contact with the front end surface of the flywheel axle 23 thereby firmly holding the flywheel 2, bearing 3, rotating ring 4 and the follower gear unit 5 together without the fear of eloping from the output shaft 11 of the engine. The detent bolt 8 has a threaded portion 81 thereon to be screw combined to the front threaded portion 71 of the nipple 7. The rear end surface of the detent 15 bolt 8 is forcibly in contact with the front end surface of the output shaft 11 so as to ensure the nipple 7 never to excurse from the output shaft 11 when rotating with a high speed. A housing 9 is employed to enclose all the aforesaid component parts of the clutch assembly and is attached to the yoke of the engine with fixing devices 6 20 after aligning its mounting holes 91 to the mounting holes 12 of the engine housing 1. As shown in Fig. 4, the clutch assembly of Fig. 3 stacks up its component parts compactly all close to the rotation ring 4 so as to minimize the occupied space and shorten the length of the output shaft 11 thereby allowing the output 25 shaft 11 to run durably for a long time without any bad result and eliminating the 6 demerit of 'running the Go Kart Engine with a long output shaft that a conventional Go Kart Engine with a bulky laid-on type clutch assembly commits. Referring to Fig. 5A and Fig. 5B, when the output shaft 11 of the engine starts to work, the projected rib 111 of the output shaft 11 being inserted into the 5 detention slot 231 of the flywheel axle 3, drives the flywheel 2 to rotate simultaneously (see Fig. 5A), when reaching a certain speed, the press boards 21 provided on the flywheel 2 are compelled to excurse outwardly by the centrifugal force so as to squeeze the linings 22 of the press boards 21 to be forcibly in contact with the interior surface of the rotation ring 4 thereby driving the latter to 10 rotate by means of the high frictional force offered by the linings 22, and in turn, driving the follower gear unit 5. In brief, it emerges from the description of the above example that the invention has several noteworthy advantages, in particular: 1. The clutch assembly of the present invention is able to compactly stack 15 up the component parts in a common space so as to save the space occupied in the Go Kart Engine and shorten the length of engine output shaft especially suitable for installing in the Go Kart Engine which allows no ample room such as a racer or a sport utility Go Kart Engine. 2. The structure is simple, easy to assemble with low cost. 20 While it will be apparent that the preferred embodiment of the invention is well calculated to provide the advantages and features above stated, it will be appreciated that the invention is acceptable to modification, variation and change without departing from the proper scope or fair meaning of the subjoined claims.
