Description

AUSTRALIA
Patents Act 1990 MICHAEL RUSSELL MCCAULEY Complete Specification Innovation Patent Invention Title: A Change Room The Following statement is a full description of this invention including the best method of performing it known to us:- 00 0 2 0 l A Change Room SField of the Invention l The present invention relates to change rooms.
Background of the Invention Many people enjoy visiting the beach, going camping, and the like, and 0 before and after visiting the beach or at various times when camping, people need 00 to change into suitable clothing for that particular environment, such as changing 0 from wet swimwear into dry clothing. With more and more people enjoying the 0 10 beach and camping environments there is less privacy for getting changed into
CA
suitable clothing. In public places people have been known to take photos and video footage of unsuspecting people and this is an increasing concern, especially when the media can be easily downloaded onto the internet. People are also becoming increasingly concerned with their own body image and are conscious of people looking at and judging their appearance. Having a personal, private space for changing, provides an environment where a user feels safe and comfortable, away from exposure to the public.
Summary of the Invention According to the present invention, there is provided a change room having: an elongate body member of a textile material; and a fastening arrangement provided proximate at top edge of elongate body member for releasably forming a space within the elongate body member.
The fastening arrangement may be a magnet or other attachment fastener.
The magnet or attachment fastener may include laterally spaced magnets or attachment devices in or on a longitudinal pocket, with its associated stitching, along the top edge of the elongate body member.
The elongate body member may be formed from a single piece of textile material or from two or more pieces of textile material.

Detailed Description of the Exemplary Embodiment In Figure 1 and Figure 2, reference numeral 10 generally designates an exemplary embodiment of a change room. The change room 10 has an elongate body member 12 of a textile material and a fastening arrangement in the form of a magnet fastener 14 provided proximate at top edge 15 of the elongate body member 12 for the releasably forming space within the elongate body member. The magnet fastener 14 includes laterally spaced magnets 20 in a longitudinal pocket 22, with its associated stitching 26, along the top edge of the elongate body member 12.
As shown in Figure 2, the longitudinal pocket 22 formed in the elongate body member 12 by folding the top edge 15 of the elongate body member 12 and inserting the magnets 20 in the longitudinal pocket 22 at varying intervals 14.
As shown in Figure 3, the space 18 is formed in the elongate body member 12 by attaching the magnets 20 to a vehicle's roof and door structure, which creates folding 28 of the elongate body member 12 around a vehicles door structure.
Figure 4 shows the change room 10 with the space 18 formed and the change room 10 attached to a vehicle's roof and door structure 24 such as commonly found. The change room 10 is arranged with the magnets 20 attaching the longitudinal pocket 22 to a vehicle's roof and door structure 24 creating a space 18 with the elongate body member 22 surrounding the space 18. The magnets assists in maintaining the arrangement of the change room 10 to the vehicle's door and roof structure 24.
O0 o 4 0 In Figure 4, the change room 10 is shown attached mainly to the vehicle's door and U roof structure 24, however, this is simply a representation of the change room and the invention is not limited to this arrangement. The change room 10 may be sufficiently large to cover a larger area of a vehicle's structure 24. In addition, the vehicle's structure on which the change room is used is not limited to that shown in Figure 4 and use on other types of vehicle including utilities, vans, trucks and coupes is also possible. In an embodiment, the change room 10 has a slit 32 formed inwardly of and perpendicular to the top edge 15. This allows the elongate body member 12 to position over the vehicle's door hinge 34 so the elongate body member 12 o 10 surrounds the vehicle's door structure. The change room 10 in Figure 4 is not limited to this arrangement and can be arranged on the inside of the vehicle's door structure.
CWhen a user of the vehicle stands in the space 18, the change room 10 is maintained in place by the arrangement of the magnets 20 attaching the longitudinal pocket 22 to the vehicle's roof and door structure 24 with the elongate body member 22 surrounding the space 18. This provides the user of the change room 10 with a barrier that creates a private space 18 to protect them from exposure to the public. In addition, the change room 10 acts to reduce the exposure to ultra-violet radiation from the Sun's rays to the user's skin while changing clothing.
The change room 10 can be easily removed from the vehicle's roof and door structure 24, the fastening arrangement released and the change room 10 used for other purposes or washed.
In this embodiment, the fastening arrangement is a magnet fastener.
However, the present invention is not limited to this fastening arrangement and other fastening arrangements, such as clips, hooks, clamps, velcro, press studs, or the like, are possible.
It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that numerous variations and/or modifications may be made to the invention as shown in the specific embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention as broadly described. The present embodiments are, therefore, to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive.
