Description
SANITARY WATER CONDUIT FITTING WITH JET REGULATOR DESCRIPTION The invention pertains to a water conduit fitting with a water outlet and a jet regulator that is inserted into the water outlet and connected to the fitting body. Water conduit fittings with jet regulators have been known and used for quite some time. If the jet regulator is inserted into the respective water outlet as a component of the fitting body of the water conduit fitting, the jet regulator of known water conduit fittings is preferably connected to the fitting body with two screws that are screwed into the fitting body realized in the form of a cast body. A seal is arranged between the jet regulator and the fitting body in order to seal the jet regulator relative to the fitting body. In known water conduit fittings, it is disadvantageous that it is difficult to fabricate screw holes in the cast body and that the screw holes in the jet regulator for receiving the screws also need to be arranged in a very precisely fitted fashion. This means that the manufacture and the installation of the water conduit fitting and of the jet regulator inserted therein are correspondingly costly and time-consuming. W02004/038112 discloses a water conduit fitting with a water outlet and a sleeve-shaped or pot-shaped intermediate holder that is fixed therein and sealed relative to the water outlet by means of a seal, wherein this intermediate holder serves as a receptacle body for the jet regulator that is inserted into the intermediate holder and held therein. The intermediate holder may be fixed in the water outlet, for example, by means of pressing or bonding, a snap-on connection, claws or wedges while the jet regulator inserted into the interior of the sleeve-shaped or pot shaped intermediate holder can be fixed therein by means of 2 screws, a snap-on connection or other types of separable connections. This known water conduit fitting has the disadvantage that a separate component in the form of the intermediate holder needs to be supplied, wherein the jet regulator also needs to be adapted to the shape of this intermediate holder; consequently, two successive installation steps are required for installing the intermediate holder on one hand and for installing the jet regulator in the intermediate holder on the other hand. The invention therefore is based on the objective of simplifying the mounting of the jet regulator in a water conduit fitting of the initially described type. The solution to this objective, as well as advantageous embodiments and additional developments of the invention, are defined in the claims that follow this description. According to the fundamental idea of the invention, it is proposed that a mounting plate and a moulded seal that is arranged between the jet regulator and the mounting plate and widens radially under the influence of axially acting pressure can be inserted into the water outlet in addition to the jet regulator, and that the inner side of the fitting body features a shoulder in the region of the water outlet that serves as a stop for the inserted mounting plate, as well as a groove for receiving an outer section of the moulded seal that widens radially under the influence of axially acting pressure. The invention provides the advantage that the fitting body requires no mounting options or mounting means other than the shoulder and the groove arranged therein. However, the shoulder and the groove can be produced in the fitting body in a relatively simple fashion, for example, by means of milling. According to the invention, the moulded seal has two functions, namely the function of sealing the jet regulator relative to the fitting body and a mounting function, namely because it radially widens 3 into the groove provided for this purpose in the fitting body under axially acting pressure and is fixed in the groove such that the moulded seal forms an axial abutment for the mounting plate that is thusly fixed in the fitting body. According to one embodiment of the invention, it is proposed that the jet regulator can be connected to the mounting plate by means of at least one connecting screw that can be screwed into the mounting plate, and that axial pressure can be exerted upon the moulded seal arranged between the jet regulator and the mounting plate by tightening the connecting screw. In this embodiment, axial pressure is exerted upon the moulded seal by tightening the mounting screw in the jet regulator that extends through the moulded seal and can be screwed into a corresponding screw opening in the mounting plate. The mounting plate with the screw opening arranged therein can also be easily manufactured. In addition, the moulded seal can be exchanged without significant effort by loosening the mounting screw. In one practical embodiment of the invention, two symmetrically arranged connecting screws are provided. If the jet regulator features an axial projection for receiving the moulded seal attached thereon in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, it is advantageous that the jet regulator, the moulded seal and the mounting plate screwed on the mounting screws can be pre-assembled such that the thusly formed unit can subsequently be inserted into the water outlet of the fitting body. In this case, it is merely required to tighten the mounting screws in order to fix the jet regulator in the water outlet. One embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawings and described below. In these drawings: 4 Figure 1 shows the water outlet of a water conduit fitting with a jet regulator, as well as the components provided for fixing the jet regulator in the water outlet, in the form of an exploded view, and Figure 2 shows a longitudinal section through the object of Figure 1 with the jet regulator installed in the water outlet. Figure 1 initially shows the water outlet 11 of the fitting body 10 of a sanitary water conduit fitting that is not illustrated in its entirety, wherein a jet regulator 18 can be inserted into the front region of the water outlet 11 in the form of a unit and fixed in the water outlet 11. For this purpose, the inner side of the water outlet 11 is provided with a shoulder 12 with a stopping function that is described in greater detail below, as well as a groove 13 that lies in front of the shoulder referred to the inserting direction of the jet regulator 18. On the side that points to the water outlet 11, the jet regulator 18 features an axially directed projection 20, onto which a moulded seal 16 can be attached that is respectively adapted to the shape of the jet regulator 18 and the water outlet 11. If the jet regulator is fixed with two outer connecting screws 19 that penetrate the jet regulator 18, the connecting screws 19 also penetrate the lateral edge region of the moulded seal 16 in correspondingly arranged through-openings 17, wherein the ends of the connecting screws 19 engage into screw holes 15 in a mounting plate 14. When the connecting screws 19 are tightened, the mounting plate 14 is axially displaced in the direction of the jet regulator 18 such that axial pressure is exerted upon the moulded seal 16 arranged between the jet regulator 18 and the mounting plate 14. If the jet regulator 18, the moulded seal 16 and the mounting plate 14 can be connected into an installation unit by means of the connecting screws 19, this installation unit can be inserted 5 into the water outlet 11 until the mounting plate 14 comes in contact with the shoulder 12 such that the installation unit is positioned in the water outlet 11. This state is illustrated in Figure 2. When the connecting screws 19 are tightened such that the jet regulator 18 and the mounting plate 14 are pulled toward one another, the moulded seal 16 arranged therebetween is subjected to axial pressure that causes the moulded seal 16 to radially widen into the groove 13 over its circumference such that it is fixed in the groove 13. In this position, the unit consisting of the jet regulator 18, the moulded seal 16 and the mounting plate 14 can no longer be pulled out of the water outlet 11 such that a simple mounting of the jet regulator 18 in the water outlet 11 of the fitting body 10 is realized. When the connecting screws 19 are loosened and the axial pressure exerted upon the moulded seal 16 diminishes, the moulded seal 16 relaxes and returns into its original shape such that it is released from the groove 13. Consequently, the unit consisting of the jet regulator 18, the moulded seal 16 and the mounting plate 14 can be removed from the water outlet 11 in order to replace the moulded seal 16, if so required. The characteristics of the object of these documents which are disclosed in the preceding description, the claims, the abstract and the figures may be essential for realizing the different embodiments of the invention individually, as well as in arbitrary combinations.
