RELATED ART: NAME OF APPLICANTS: ACTUAL INVENTOR: ADDRESS FOR SERVICE: INVENTION TITLE: David Jacob Schwartz Marcelo Alberto Hilu lan Schwartz David Jacob Schwartz LORD AND COMPANY, Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, of 4 Douro Place, West Perth, Western Australia, 6005, AUSTRALIA.
"WALL STORAGE SYSTEM" DETAILS OF ASSOCIATED PROVISIONAL APPLICATION: Australian Provisional Patent Application Number 2006903590 filed on 4 July 2006 The following Statement is a full description of this invention including the best method of performing it known to us: ci TITLE SWALL STORAGE SYSTEM In accordance with one aspect of the present invention there is provided a wall storage system comprising: 1 a wall mounting having a plurality of slots, the wall mounting being arranged to be Ssecured to an upright surface with each slot extending generally horizontally; one or more support brackets, the or each support bracket being engageable with and i0 disengageable from the wall mounting; wherein each slot comprises a generally horizontal lower surface, an upper surface having a groove extending therefrom at an angle to the horizontal, each of the support brackets having first and second tabs extending therefrom, each second tab being angled relative to the corresponding first tab such that, in use, a first tab of a support bracket rests on the generally horizontal lower surface of a first slot and the second tab is received in the groove of a second adjacent slot.
The present invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 comprises side views of a wall mounting and support bracket of the present invention showing the sequence of steps for engagement of the support bracket to the wall mounting; Figure 2 is a rear perspective view of the support bracket of Figure 1 showing engagement of the support bracket to an item; Figure 3 is an enlarged view of the wall mounting of Figure 1; Figure 4 is an enlarged view of the wall mounting engaged with the support bracket; Figure 5 comprises side views of the wall mounting and support bracket of Figure 1 showing the sequence from securing the wall mounting to a wall to securing the support bracket to the wall mounting; e¢3 Figures 6a to 6f show views of a first alternative embodiment an item secured to the a support bracket of the present invention; NFigures 7a to 7f show views of a second alternative embodiment an item secured to the a support bracket of the present invention; and Figures 8a to 8f show views of a third alternative embodiment an item secured to the a support bracket of the present invention.
Referring to the Figures, there is shown a wall storage system 10 comprising a wall mounting 12 and one or more support brackets 14. The wall mounting 12 is arranged to be secured to an upright surface first and a vertical surface and the support brackets 14 are engageable with and disengageable from the wall mounting 12. The support brackets 14 are secureable to an item 16 that is to be mounted adjacent the vertical surface. The items to be mounted adjacent the wall mounting 12 may themselves be designed to support other articles.
For example, the items may be storage bins or support arms shaped to hold specific articles. The wall storage system 10 thereby allows storage of a range of articles against the vertical surface. The wall storage system 10 may be used in applications such as retail outlets to display articles on sale, or in sheds or workshops to hold tools.
The wall mounting 12 comprises a generally planar sheet of material having one or more 3 slots 18 on a first side 22 thereof therein. The slots 18 are arranged parallel to each other to extend generally horizontally when the wall mounting 12 is secured to the vertical surface.
The slots 18 are each provided in a rib 20 extending horizontally along a second opposed side 24 of the sheet of material. Referring to Figure 3, the cross sectional shape of each of the slots 18 includes a generally rectangular portion 26 extending inwardly from the open end 28 of the slot 18. The rectangular cross-sectioned portion 26 of the slot 18 includes a generally flat lower surface 30 arranged horizontally in use and an upper surface 32. The upper surface 32 includes a groove 34. The groove 34 extends at an angle upwardly from the upper surface 32 and toward the second surface 24 of.the wall mounting 12.
The wall mounting 12 is to be secured to the upright surface by appropriate fixing means.
In the embodiment shown, the fixing means comprises a wall plate 40 having a plurality of apertures to receive threaded fasteners 42. The threaded fasteners 42 are received through the apertures and engage with the upright surface to secure the wall plate thereto. The wall plate 40 includes a plurality of horizontally extending portions 44, each corresponding to one of the ribs 20 on the wall mounting 12. Each of the horizontally extending portions 44 includes an upturned end 46 to engage with a recess 48 running along a lower surface of the corresponding rib 20 such that the wall mounting 12 is supported on the wall plate 40. The representations of Figure 5 from number 1 to 5 show the sequence of securing the wall plate 40 to the vertical surface and then securing the wall mounting 12 to the wall plate Each of the support brackets 14 are arranged to be mounted to the wall mounting 12. The support brackets 14 are attached to items that are required to be supported relative to the upright surface. In the example shown in Figures 1 and 2, the item comprises a device having a plurality of projections 50 onto which articles can be hung for display purposes.
The support brackets 14 include a body portion 52 securable to the item. Extending from the body portion is a first tab 54 extending from a lower end, in use, of the body portion 52 and a second tab 56 extending from an upper end, in use, of the body portion 52. The first tab 54 comprises a generally flat sheet of material generally extending perpendicular to the body portion 52. The second tab 56 comprises also a generally flat sheet of material extending generally perpendicular to the body portion 52 but having an upturned distal end 58. The upturned end 58 is angled to the plane of the first tab 54 at at an angle equivalent to the angle between the groove 34 and the lower surface 30 of the slot 18.
In use, the first and second tabs 54 and 56 are received in the slot 18 of the wall mounting 12 such that the first tab 54 rests on the lower surface 30 of the slot 18 and the second tab 56 is received in the groove 34. Figure 1 shows the sequence of engaging the first and second tabs 54 and 56 of the support bracket 14 with the slot 18 of the wall mounting 12.
Figures 6 to 8 show examples of items that can be secured to the support brackets 14 and therefore to the wall mounting 14. The items include various arm configurations for receiving particular articles to be supported by the wall storage system Modifications and variations as would be apparent to a skilled addressee are deemed to be within the scope of the present invention
