Description

Description: 4; The 'Dualsuc' secondary suction system is an invention to allow n swimming pool owners to operate the filter and pump during drought conditions by by-passing the skimmer box and therefore making it unnecessary to replace water lost by evaporation, without the danger of 0 damaging the pump by running it dry.
It consists of a three-way valve connected into the primary suction line Rof the pool and into a secondary suction line of 40ml pressure pipe which extends up and over the pool wall into the water at any given depth below the skimmer box. It has dual safety suction caps attached at the end of the secondary suction line, at a distance of 122cm (4ft) apart, which draw water from the swimming pool into the filtration system. It has a non-return valve connected above these safety suctions 4o trap water in the line to keep the pump primed. The system can be removed from the pool and reconnected as required by the owner once the initial installation has been done. It does not interfere with the normal use of the swimming pool.
Fig.1 is a side elevation, showing the three-way valve connected into the primary suction line and a secondary suction line. It shows the secondary suction line extending up and over the pool wall and down into the water below the level of the skimmer box intake.
Fig 2 is a front elevation showing the pipe work and safety suction caps in the pool below water level.

Claims (3)

1. A secondary suction system for swimming pools of the type having a primary suction line connecting a skimmer box to a pump, the system including: a secondary suction line with a pair of spaced suction inlets to 00 Sdraw water from the pool below the skimmer box; and a three-way valve connected to the primary suction line and the Ssecondary suction line to allow the pump to draw water from the pool via either the skimmer box or the suction inlets.
2. A system as claimed in Claim 1 wherein: a non-return valve is provided in the secondary suction line between the suction inlets and the three-way valve to trap water in the secondary suction line to keep the pump primed.
3. A system as claimed in Claim 2, wherein: the secondary suction line has the pair of suction inlets at respective ends of a horizontal section of the secondary suction line.
