Name of Applicant: Actual Inventors: Address for Service: Invention Title: Details of Basic Application: Hyundai Motor Company Hong Suk Choi Inyong Ohm HODGKINSON McINNES PAPPAS Patent Trade Mark Attorneys Levels 3, 20 Alfred Street MILSONS POINT NSW 2061 "Fuel Rail Structure of LPG Vehicle" Korea Patent Application No. 10-2005-0119953 Filed 8 December 2005 The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to us: P20496AU00 TITLE OF THE INVENTION FUEL RAIL STRUCTURE OF LPG VEHICLE CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION This application claims priority to and the benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2005-0119953 filed in the Korean Intellectual Property Office on December 08, 2005 the entire content of which is incorporated herein by reference.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a fuel rail structure of an LPG vehicle.
More particularly, the present invention relates to a fuel rail structure of an LPG vehicle for preventing LPG fuel from being injected in a liquid state.
Description of the Related Art A conventional LPG vehicle uses a scheme of a gasoline fuel injection system, such as a Top Feeding type or a Side Feeding type.
That is, a fuel rail of a conventional LPG vehicle is secured to an outside of an intake manifold by a bolt, and an injector is connected to the fuel rail.
However, in a case of a fuel rail of a conventional LPG vehicle, LPG fuel stored in a lower portion of the fuel rail is injected in a liquid state so that the air/fuel ratio is deteriorated when a temperature is low.
In addition, in order to prevent the LPG fuel from being injected in a liquid state, a temperature of 100% butane gas must be higher than 40 degrees Celsius when a pressure in the fuel rail is 2 bars, and a temperature of a gas mixed with 30% propane gas must be higher than 15 degrees Celsius when a pressure in the fuel rail is 2 bars. Therefore, in order to prevent the LPG fuel from being injected in a liquid state, an additional heating apparatus is required.
The above information disclosed in this Background section is only for enhancement of understanding of the background of the invention and therefore it may contain information that does not form the prior art that is already known in this country to a person of ordinary skill in the art.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in an effort to provide a fuel rail structure of an LPG vehicle having an advantage of preventing LPG fuel from being injected in a liquid state, without an additional heating apparatus.
The fuel rail is formed in an L-shaped cross-section and it includes an upper rail portion connected with at least one injector and a lower rail portion for preventing the LPG fuel from being injected in a liquid state, wherein the lower rail portion is positioned lower than a connected portion of the fuel rail and the at least one injector.
The upper rail portion includes partitions disposed at predetermined intervals and respectively having a hole such that fluctuation of an interior pressure of the fuel rail is prevented.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a fuel rail structure according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view along the line A-A of FIG. 1 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view along the line B-B of FIG. 1 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
*Description of Reference Numerals Indicating Primary Elements in the Drawings* Fuel rail 11: Upper rail portion 12: Lower rail portion 20: Injector Partition 31: Hole DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENT An exemplary embodiment of the present invention will hereinafter be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a fuel rail structure according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view along the line A-A of FIG. 1 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view along the line B-B of FIG. 1 according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 1 to FIG. 3, according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the rail structure of an LPG vehicle includes a fuel rail and at least one injector 20 connected to the fuel rail 10. The fuel rail 10 is formed in an L-shaped cross-section. The fuel rail 10 includes an upper rail portion 11 connected with the at least one injector 20, and a lower rail portion 12 for preventing LPG fuel from being injected in a liquid state.
Here, the upper rail portion 11 includes a plurality of partitions respectively having a hole 31 for preventing fluctuation of an interior pressure of the fuel rail 10, wherein the partitions are apart from each other at a predetermined distance.
That is, as shown in FIG. 1 to FIG. 3, according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the cross-section of the fuel rail 10 for an LPG vehicle is in an L shape that is formed by the upper rail portion 11 and the lower rail portion 12, and a plurality of partitions 30 respectively provided with a hole 31 are provided in the upper rail portion 11.
When the at least one injector 20 is connected to the upper rail portion 11, the lower rail portion 12 is positioned lower than a connected portion of the upper rail portion 11 and the at least one injector 20. Therefore, even if LPG fuel in a liquid state remains in the lower rail portion 12, the LPG fuel is prevented from being injected in a liquid state through the at least one injector Meanwhile, the plurality of partitions 30 respectively having a hole 31 are provided in the upper rail portion 11 with predetermined intervals.
Therefore, when the LPG fuel in the upper rail portion 11 is injected through the at least one injector 20 in a vapor state, the interior pressure of the fuel rail 10 is prevented from fluctuating by the partitions Consequently, the pressure of the fuel rail 10 is maintained constant, so that the LPG fuel may be stably injected through the at least one injector In the above description, the present invention provides a fuel rail structure having an L-shaped cross-section, and prevents the LPG fuel from being injected in a liquid state without an additional heating apparatus.
Furthermore, an interior pressure of the fuel rail is prevented from fluctuating, and thus, injections of the LPG fuel may be stably maintained.
While this invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be a practical exemplary embodiment, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment, but, on the contrary, is intended to cover various modifications and equivalent arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
The term "comprising" (and its grammatical variations) as used herein is used in the inclusive sense of "having" or "including" and not in the exclusive sense of "consisting only of'.
