BACKGROUND
l Character based soft masks are popular merchandises for children and costumes worn as disguises for example at a masquerade party for adults. They also play an important role in marketing campaigns for movies and comic books featuring super heroes and cartoon characters.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to identify a unique opportunity to capitalize on the popularity of costume dress up as well as provide a level of functionality in terms of protection of the head and eyes which current products in the marketplace fail to do in a novel capacity.
It is another object of the present invention to address or ameliorate some of the above shortcomings or to at least offer a useful choice.
3 SNotes SI. The term "comprising" (and grammatical variations thereof) is used in this specification in the inclusive sense of "having" or "including", and not in the exclusive sense of "consisting only of".
In 00 2. The above discussion of the prior art in the Background Sof the invention, is not an admission that any .1 O information discussed therein is citable prior art or (N part of the common general knowledge of persons skilled in the art in any country.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a covering for protection of a head and eyes from harmful effects of UV rays comprising: a first portion adapted to mount on at least part of a human head; and a second portion being releasably coupled to the first portion and adapted to cover at least one eye of the human head.
Preferably the second portion includes spectacles having lens into which a 3-dimensional or holographic film is integrated.
4 Preferably the first portion includes a retainer which 0 0 N releasably engages with the second portion.
Z Preferably the retainer is at least in part fabricated (N of a looped portion of VELCRO

a hook portion of VELCRTM being fixed to or form an integral part of the first 00 0 portion, or vice versa.
0 O Preferably the second portion has at least one arm 0 which is slidably retained in a receiving portion of the first portion.
Preferably the covering is an inflatable covering (which is collapsible for storage purposes).
Preferably the first portion is ornamented with a theme.
According to another aspect of the present invention there is provided a covering for disguising comprising: a head portion adapted to mount on at least part of a human head; and a retainer being operatively coupled to or forms an integral part of the head portion and adapted to releasably hold an eye portion.
Preferably the covering provides protection to a head and eyes as a safety device.

00 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS 00\ SIst Embodiment O With reference to figure 1 a covering for disguising C- 10 according to one preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a first portion in the form of a head piece 12 and a second portion in the form of spectacles 14.
The first portion is adapted to mount on at least part of a human head, typically being the upper portion of the head.
The second portion is releasably coupled to the first portion and adapted to cover at least one eye of the human head. The head piece 12 is typically made of a resilient material whereas the spectacles 14 have lens 16 into which a 3-dimensional or holographic film may be integrated. The spectacles 14 includes a frame having a bridge 19. As can be seen in figure i, the head piece 12 and spectacles 14 when in use are integrated reasonably seamlessly into one unit.
Turning to figures 2 and 3, the head piece 10 includes a unit integrated which in the present embodiment is in the form of a moulded housing 14 and releasably engages the 7 O spectacles at 22. A flange 26 is provided on the verge 24 N of the head piece 0 ZIn the present embodiment, the moulded housing 14 may c(l at least in part be fabricated of a looped portion 18 of
VELCRO
TM
The hook portion 20 of VELCRO T M is fixed to or form 00 O an integral part of the head piece 10, or vice versa.
Preferably the strip 14 is either creased, crimped or
\D
Sscored along the line indicated by A-A so as to facilitate
CIA
folding of looped portion 18 of the VELCRO back onto the hooked portion The spectacles 12 have two arms 20 which are slidably retained in receiving portions in the form of grooves 22 located on both sides of the first portion 10 respectively.
The covering 10 in the present embodiment may also be comprised of an inflatable material which is collapsible for storage purposes.
2nd Embodiment Referring to figures 4 and 5, spectacles 140 has a bridge 190 having a recess 210. The head piece 120 has a retainer in the form of a bifurcated tab 150. The tab 150 has a lateral projection 180 extending from both of its resilient legs 180. The tab 150 is received within the recess 210 provided in the head piece 120. In order to 8 O engage the head piece 120 with the spectacles 140, the tab C 150 may be push-fitted into the recess 210.
Z 3rd, 4th and 5th Embodiments Cq The first portion is ornamented with a theme. This means u% Or 5 that the head piece may take different shapes and have Sdifferent patterns and colours. By way of example, the 0 first portions 220, 240 and 260 as shown in figures 6, 7 and 8 have the appearances of a soccer ball, cricket ball and tennis ball, respectively. It is contemplated that the first portion may be customised to take other form and shape in order to provide head and/or eye protection for athletes in outdoor activities such as cycling or skateboarding.
In Use The covering 10 of the present invention provides a portable and easy to assemble item, perfect for disguising, fancy dresses, or as a protective unit to prevent harmful effects of the sun to the top of the head and eyes. A user simply has to superimpose the uppermost portion 22 of the spectacles 20 over the verge 24 of the head piece 12. The spectacles 20 may then be pushed backward in such a way that the arms 20 are slidably received in the grooves 22. Once the spectacles 22 are put in place with the uppermost portion 28 of the frame 17 9 k0 engaging the flange 26, the spectacles 14 may be secured by f- folding the looped portion 18 of the VELCRO onto the hooked Sportion 20 thereby sandwiching the bridge 19. The assembly of the head piece 10 and spectacles 14 may be carried out before or after the head piece 10 is put on the head of the 00 user.
0 Further embodiments of the present invention are
IO
Sillustrated in figures 9 to 13.
The above describes only some embodiments of the present invention and improvements and modifications, obvious to those skilled in the art, can be made thereto without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
