Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT INNOVATIVE TYPING AID FOR KEYBOARD USERS The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best methods of implementing it known to me: -1- O INNOVATIVE TYPING AID FOR KEYBOARD USERS For many years learning to touch type has required software programs or training courses. This invention has been devised to provide a new process for learning to 00 touch type. It is designed to provide instant learning and provides continuous guidance to type correctly. It is simple and effective and can be used on any type of keyboard. It can be easily fitted to existing keyboards, without affecting any keyboard functions, and is designed to remain in place on the keyboard so that Sthe user can utilize the typing aid every time they use the keyboard. It can also be incorporated into the manufacture of new keyboards. In either case, it is always visible by the keyboard user.
A typing aid in accordance with this invention incorporates a coding system that guides the user as to which fingers need to be used on which keys, and also where the fingers should start and always gravitate back to during typing. By following the coding of this typing aid the keyboard user is immediately touch typing correctly with all fingers, from the first time the typing aid is used, and the keyboard user is continuously guided to touch type correctly each and every time they use the keyboard.
This typing aid can be made of an adhesive backed material, pre-cut to size, ready to be applied to individual keys on the keyboard. It can also be incorporated into the manufacture of the keyboard with individual keys having the coding built in. The coding system for the keys could comprise numbers or symbols and may include colours to assist the visual appearance and ease of use.
Diagram 1 Innovative Typing Aid (one possible example of coding) In this example numerical coding has been used to indicate which fingers should be used for which keys Colour coding has also been used with one colour designated for the left hand and another colour designated for the right hand The reverse image colour coding has been used to indicate start position and where keyboard user's fingers gravitate back to during typing The typing aid can be made from an adhesive backed material, pre-cut to size, to fit individual keys on the keyboard (See Diagram The typing aid can also be incorporated into the manufacture of the actual keyboard, with individual keys having the coding built in.
-2- Diagram 2 Innovative Typing Aid example of typing aid made from an adhesive backed material, pre-cut to size, and fitted to individual keys on the keyboard.
