Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Applicant(s): Kevmar Nominees Pty Ltd A.C.N. 005 182 212 Invention Title: MULTIMEDIA DISPLAY FRAME The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me/us: 2 MULTIMEDIA DISPLAY FRAME FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates generally to a display package or system for containing two different displays being a static display located at a first part of the package and a related dynamic display located at a second part of the package in which both displays are located within a single display package.

In one form, the present invention relates to a multimedia display system having a first part which is a static display and a second part which is a dynamic display within a single package or system in which the two displays complement or supplement one another by displaying different aspects of the same event or occurrence in two different ways such as a static fixed display and a moving dynamic display.

Although the present invention will be described with particular reference to one or more specific embodiments of the overall package or system, it is to be noted that the scope of the present invention is not restricted to the described embodiments but rather the scope of the present invention is more extensive so as to include other forms and arrangements of each of the displays, other forms and arrangements of the combination of the static display and dynamic display, the package or system containing the displays, and the use of the overall display, package or system or of any one of the individual components or combination of the display system in a variety of applications.

H:\wendys\keep\Spcifications\multiedia Dieplay Frame Innovation P60818doc 22/05/06 3 BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Many people like to display treasured items, articles, souvenirs, mementos, collectables, and/or pictures on their walls or on stands for others to view and admire.

Typically, such displays take the form of a static image displayed in combination with a treasured article, such as for example, a trophy, football paraphernalia such as a game ball, jersey, or other sporting hardware, a valuable autograph or any one of a myriad of other mementos or souvenirs. Such displays are intended to be viewed at and admired as a single, non interactive static display.

However, details of many events or situations are difficult to capture and to display in a single static form. As an example, football matches, involve a series of crucial events or plays leading to the final points victory over the opposing team. Other competitive sport matches also contain crucial events or occurrences which determine the outcome of the contest. Another example is horse racing which involves several strategic manoeuvres by the jockeys during the horse race to place the horse in the best position to win followed by a final sprint to the finish line. Whilst it is possible to have a picture or photograph relating to the sporting event or similar such as for example, a player taking a spectacular mark at a critical time in a football match or a horse flashing past the winning post as the winner of an important race, many people would also like to be able to relive these moments or events and also to be able to accurately reproduce the action responsible for success in the particular endeavour. Unfortunately, static displays do not allow H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 4 the event or occurrence to be displayed or for the ambience or "feel" of the event to be portrayed, or for a sequence of actions or plays to evolve over time to interact to produce the overall event or occurrence which it is desired to view or to "relive", such as for example, in the form of a "living" memento. Thus, there is a need for some type of display arrangement or system or package that provides more than a mere static display so as to be able to provide a greater appreciation or understanding of the event or occurrence. Further, there is a need to provide a display which enhances the static display by providing additional information about the event or occurrence that can be provided by the mere static display alone.

Another example of situations where merely providing static displays is deficient occurs in advertising, promotion, marketing or the like, such as for example when real estate agents provide real estate services in respect of properties for lease or sale. Currently, real estate agents display photographs of properties for sale or for rent using a fixed static display of an aspect of the property in the form of a photograph, sketch, plan, drawing or the like to arouse the interest of a potential purchaser. Owing to the restrictions of space, a single photograph only is often used to show one aspect of the property, usually the front of the dwelling or property for sale or for rent. A single photograph can provide little information about the property, such as for example, very little information about the interior layout and internal appearance of the property if the photograph is of the exterior of the house. Also, it is difficult to convey information about a property and the "atmosphere" H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P6081B.doc 22/05/06 5 of a property using static photographs only, particularly as in many instances it is difficult to provide realistic looking photographs owing to restrictions on space and other physical aspects of the property. Thus, there is a need for a display system that is an enhancement of the static display system by providing a display which complements or supplements the static display by presenting the same information of the static display in a different or better manner. If further information about the interior layout, furnishings or fittings of a property for sale could be provided, a prospective purchaser could be more informed about a particular property and decide in advance whether, on viewing the enhanced dynamic display, whether further investigation or viewing of the property is warranted. By being able to view both a static and dynamic display of the property, the prospective purchaser could dismiss unsuitable properties merely on the basis of viewing a combination of static and dynamic images of the property rather than relying upon a static image alone.

Additionally, this could save considerable time and effort on behalf of both the real estate agent and of the prospective purchaser in the real estate agent not having to show the prospective purchaser through a house which is totally unsuitable or inappropriate. Thus, there is a need for a system which provides additional information about an event or occurrence which is an enhancement of a static display to assist in making a more informed decision about the information being displayed by both the static display and the dynamic display. This additional information could be responsible for increased sales of properties or be conducive to properties being sold more quickly or for an increased purchase price and thus is an enhancement to the business of conducting a real estate H:\wendys\keep\Specification\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 -6service. Additionally, the dynamic display of the house or property could be sold or given to the purchaser on purchasing the property as a memento, souvenir or the like to remind the purchaser of what the house looked like when it was purchased.

Therefore, it is an aim of the present invention to provide a display system which is an improvement of the static display system by providing additional information that complements or enhances or supplements the information contained in the static display.

It is another aim of the present invention to provide a display package or system which exhibits not only a static image or memento of an event but also provides a dynamic image of the event which complements or supplements the static display.

It is another aim of the present invention to provide a display which exhibits not only a static image or memento of the event but also provides dynamic audio and/or visual records of at least key elements or aspects of the event or of the defining moments of the event to provide further information about the event.

It is to be noted that not all embodiments falling within the scope of the invention of this application satisfy all of the aims of the invention. Some embodiments will satisfy some aims whilst other embodiments will satisfy other aims. Further, some embodiments may satisfy two or more aims.

According to one aspect of the present invention, there is H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P6081B.doc 22/05/06 7 provided a display package or system for conveying information about an event or occurrence, said package or system comprising a first display being a static display located at or within a first part of the package or system for displaying a first part of the information of the event or occurrence and a second display being a dynamic display located at or within a second part of the package or system for displaying a second part of the information of the same event or occurrence wherein the second part of the information is complementary to or supplementary to or is of a different aspect of the event or occurrence being displayed by the first part of the information.

According to another aspect of the present invention there is provided a multimedia display package or system comprising: a first section housing a static memento; and a second section housing a media player capable of playing audio and/or visual media, wherein the media player is adapted to play an audio and/or visual record related to the static memento, thereby giving a person viewing the display package or system information relating to the background, nature, importance and/or relevance of the memento in an audio and/or visual form.

According to another aspect of the present invention there is provided a multimedia display frame comprising: a first section housing a static memento; and 0 a second section housing a media player capable of playing audio and/or visual media related to the static memento, H:\wendys\keep\pecifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 8 wherein the first section includes an activation device which when manipulated results in the media player playing audio and/or visual media related to the static memento thereby allowing a person viewing the display frame the ability to activate the audio and/or visual information regarding the background, nature, importance and/or relevance of the memento.

According to yet another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of displaying mementos in a static and dynamic form, comprising: Locating a static memento in a first portion of a display frame; or Locating a dynamic audio and/or visual media record relating to the memento through a media player in a second portion of the display frame; and Displaying the frame at a desired location, thereby producing a display frame having a combination of the static memento and related audio and/or visual media record which gives a person viewing the display frame two different but complementary forms of information relating to the memento, thereby providing the person with more information relating to the background, nature, importance and/or relevance of the memento.

According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of displaying multimedia recordings, comprising: Capturing a static image and a dynamic audio and/or visual media record of an event; Locating a printed copy of the static image in a first portion of a display frame; H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 NO 9 cO Locating the dynamic audio and/or visual media record in a media player in a second portion of the display frame; and CI Displaying the frame at a desired location, thereby producing a display frame having a combination of the static image and a related audio and/or visual media record of the event which gives a viewer two different but complementary forms of information relating to the event INO thereby giving the person more information relating to the background, nature, importance and/or relevance of the event.

Typically, the display package or system is a single unit, item, presentation, or the like.

Typically, the display package is a display frame, more typically the display frame is wall mountable, having dimensions and a mass allowing the display frame to located on any suitable wall or supporting substrate.

Preferably, the display frame includes a wall mount allowing the display frame to be hung at a desired location on a wall.

The static memento can be any pictorial or physical object of which a user wishes to display. Typically, the static memento comprises an image, photograph, object, collectable, fabric, article of clothing, footwear certificate, toy, compact disk, DVD, vinyl LP, video tape, book, magazine, digital photograph, badge, card, autograph or the like. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the memento comprises a static image such as a photograph of a key event, such as for example a horse, sports car or athlete crossing the line and winning a race H:\wendys\keep\Speclfications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P608B1B.doc 22/05/06 10 or a football player kicking the crucial goal or taking a telling mark or performing a match winning play or the like which seals victory for the team in an final series.

Alternatively, the static display could be a photograph of a property or house, a sketch of the exterior of a property, a plan of the layout of the property or the like. In another embodiment of the invention, the static display includes more than one display, such as for example, two or more photographs, displayed as the static memento. More typically, the two or more photographs are in sequence or are associated or related to one another.

The dynamic display is provided by a media player. The media player typically plays an audio and/or visual record of an event or story relating to the static memento. The media player can comprise an audio player such as a tape player, CD player, digital music player (MP3 or the like) or the like. More typically, the media player comprises a visual player such as a video player with display screen, DVD player with display screen, digital media player such as a computer and display or the like. The multimedia player therefore plays a pre-recorded item or items as the second part of the information providing information relating to the static memento(s) providing the first part of the information. It is to be noted that the media player can contain more information about the event or occurrence than does the static display, such as for example, the background or history of the event or occurrence, or of participants in the event or occurrence.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the media player comprises a digital audio player which plays audio tracks such as songs, voice recordings, animal sounds, commentary related to the memento(s). In another H: \.endys\keep\Speci fications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 11 embodiment of the present invention, the media player comprises a video player (analogue, digital or the like) attached to a display screen, the video player adapted to play a visual or visual and audio record related to the memento. The record could comprise for example a horse race, football game, athletics race, music video clip, television program, live concert footage, news clip, film clip, a tour of a building or property showing the interior of the house, the layout, the decoration, furnishing and the like, an extract of the foregoing or the like.

In embodiments, the static display provides information about the exterior or location of a property, such as for example, the external appearance of the building, house, dwelling or the like, whereas the dynamic display provides information about a tour or virtual tour of the house showing the internal appearance of the house, the layout of the rooms, the quality and type of fittings and fixtures provided within the house, the size of the rooms, and other information of interest to a potential purchaser of a house.

The media player can comprise a stand alone unit which is manufactured as a component separate to the frame and inserted into a recess in the display frame or could comprise a unit which is built or otherwise manufactured as an integral component of the display frame. For example, in the case of a DVD player and display screen, the DVD player and screen could be bought as separate units and inserted into a recess built to fit the components in the display screen, or the DVD and screen could be manufactured with the display screen and the H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\ultiedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 12 parts inserted as an integrated component of the frame.

The memento and media player have an implicit interrelationship through the nature of the memento and the background story the recording or the like gives to the memento when played on the media player. However, this link can also be more explicit in some embodiments of the present invention, where the static portion is interconnected to the media player by way of an activation device. In these embodiments of the invention, manipulation of the activation device causes the media player to play the record relating to the memento. The activation device can comprise any switch, lever, button, slide, pressure pad, actuator, trigger or the like which is capable of activating or otherwise causing the media player to play the media record relating to the memento.

In one embodiment of the invention, the activation device comprises a remote control, having buttons which are related to an indicator, mark or representation on the memento. The indicator, mark or representation indicates to a user which button or buttons should be pressed to activate the media player.

In another embodiment of the invention, the activation device comprises a button or pressure pad set behind the memento. Therefore, a user can press or otherwise add pressure to the memento which will then activate the media player. This embodiment is particularly advantageous when the memento comprises a picture as the picture can be fixed over the button or pressure pad, giving the user a unique way of interacting with the static and dynamic portions of the display frame.

>More than one memento can be displayed in the static section of the display frame. The mementos can be C-i interrelated, such as for example being different pictures of the same event, and therefore may only require a single media record to be used in the dynamic portion of the display. However, the mementos could also be separate O items requiring an individual media record to be used in the dynamic portion of the display for each memento INO located in the static portion of the display. Two, three, four, six, eight or more different mementos could be displayed in the static section of the display frame.

Each of these mementos could be interrelated, such as being different pictures from an event, or separate items.

This therefore would require a varied number of media record to be used in the dynamic portion of the display for each memento located in the static portion of the display.

Each of the separate mementos in the static portion of the display frame can be interconnected to the media player by way of an activation device. The activation device could be linked to only one memento, more than one memento, groups of mementos, all mementos in the static display portion or combinations thereof. Manipulation of the activation device related to one of the mementos displayed in the static portion causes the media player to play the record relating to that memento.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the static display comprises two or more mementos, each of which has a separate activation device. Manipulation of the activation device related to one of the mementos displayed H:\wendyo\keep\Specifiationa\mltimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 14 in the static portion causes the media player to play the record relating to that memento. Again, the activation device could be a button, pad or the like, or could comprise a remote control linked via a code or mark located near or on the mementos in the static portion of the display frame.

In one particular embodiment of the present invention, the static portion of the display comprises two or more pictures arranged in the static portion of the display frame. Each of the pictures have a pressure pad located under the picture which when depressed activates a recording related to the picture on the media player.

Preferably, the media player comprises a DVD player, thereby allowing a audio and visual recording to be played when one of the pictures in the static portion of the display is depressed.

It is also possible that a single memento could have more than one recording playable in the media player in the dynamic portion of the display. In this embodiment, one or more activation devices could be located near, in or behind the memento to activate the various media records related to the memento. For example, in one embodiment of the invention, a single memento has several different buttons or pressure pads located behind the memento, each of which when pressed activates a different media record to be played on the media player. In another embodiment of the invention, a single memento has several markings or representations near or on the memento indicating that different media records are playable. The most simplistic would be a series of numbers. The mark or representation indicates to a user that that button or buttons should be H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 15 pressed to activate the media player. The buttons could be located on the display frame or on a remote control which can activate the media player, each of which when pressed activates a different media recording to be played on the media player.

The display frame can comprise any suitable housing capable of holding a picture and a media player, such as a DVD player and display screen. The frame can be of any shape imaginable, including the conventional rectangular or square shapes, but also extending to stars, circles, ovals, triangles or the like, the shape only being restricted by the dimensions of the memento and media player intended to be housed within the display frame. In one embodiment of the invention, the display frame comprises a conventional picture frame having a first recess for housing the memento and a second recess for housing the media player. Preferably, a transparent substrate such as for example a pain of glass or Perspex covers at least the recess holding the memento. In another embodiment of the invention, the display frame comprises a pre-molded housing having the media player integrally built into the frame. In this embodiment, a recess would be left for housing the memento.

In one embodiment, the frame is provided with a molded insert, tray, fitting or similar which is shaped to be clipped into the interior of the frame and held in place by the sides of the frame. The molded insert is provided with one or more wells forming compartments for receiving the memento, souvenir, photographs or the like.

Additionally, the insert is provided with a well, depression or similar for forming a compartment for H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Mlultimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 16 receiving the media player or similar for displaying the dynamic display such as a multi media player having an LCD screen for playing excepts from, or the entire event or occurrence. Typically, the molding, tray, insert or similar is formed from a plastics material such as for example PVC, polyethylene, polystyrene, PET (polyethylene teraphthalate) or the like. More typically, the molding is formed by any suitable molding process, such as for example, vacuum molding, pressure molding, injection molding, or the like including combinations of two or more such as vacuum forming with light pressure assistance.

More typically, other depressions, wells or similar are provided for accessories or components of the multimedia player, such as for example, battery charger, power pack, leads, remote control or the like. Alternatively, the side of the frame is provided with a compartment, pocket, recess, slot, cavity or similar for housing and/or receiving the remote control. Typically, the compartment is located at the side of the frame or the remote control can be clipped or tethered to the side of the frame forming a holder or similar to locate and maintain the remote control with respect to the frame.

Typically, the frame in which the media player is located to form the dynamic display is located within a compartment having a lid or cover for closing the compartment. More typically, the lid or cover is movable between adapting an open and a closed position. More typically, the lid or cover is slidable between the open position and the closed position. Alternatively, the lid or cover is hingedly connected to the back of the frame to hingedly move between an open or partially open position and a closed position to allow access into and from the H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.dOC 22/05/06 17 compartment and the media display.

The recordings on the media play can be a permanently stored in the display frame or could be changeable, allowing a user to change or update the information being displayed on the media player. Preferably, the recording in the media player can be changed or otherwise altered to allow the display frame to be customized to the particular memento placed in the static portion of the display frame.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the display frame includes a slot through which a disk, memory stick, CD, DVD, memory drive or the like can be inserted and removed from the media player. Preferably, the slot is located on the underside of the frame or a side of the frame which contacts the wall when the frame is attached to a wall.

In another embodiment of the present invention, the display frame includes a movable flap of which in a first open position allows a user to access the input portion of the media player to change the recording (such as for example change the CD, DVD, memory stick or the like) and in a second closed position conceals the media player. In yet another embodiment of the invention, the display frame includes input terminals which allow a further device to be plugged into the media player which can either alter the recording on the media player or play a different recording to that currently playing on the media player.

It is to be understood that the various components of the media player, such as speakers, screen, media storage drive or housing, control decks can be located in any H: \endys\keep\Specifications\Multieda Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 \D -18o configuration around the display frame. All such configurations are encompassed by the present invention.

C BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The present invention will now be described with reference C to the figures of the accompanying drawings, which illustrate a particular preferred embodiment thereof by way of non-limiting example, wherein: Figure 1 is a perspective view of one particular embodiment of the display frame of the present invention.

Figure 2 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the display frame of the present invention.

Figure 3 is a front elevation view of the display frame shown in figure i.

Figure 4 is a front elevation view of an embodiment of the display frame of the present invention which includes 4 different static pictures.

Figure 5 is a front elevation view of an embodiment of the display frame of the present invention which includes 6 different static pictures, of which are interact with the dynamic picture device by way of a remote control.

H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 19 Q) DETAILED DESCRIPTION Ct Figure 1 illustrates one particular embodiment of display c- system or display package or presentation package in accordance with the present invention in the form of a display frame 10 comprising a generally rectangular C display housing 12 or unit having a single picture display compartment 14 for displaying the static display located \iin a top portion of the housing 12 and a DVD player 16 with display 17 located in a bottom portion of the housing 12 forming the dynamic display. The display housing 12 locates each of these items in close proximity within a single unit, framed within by a rectangular outer border 26 to produce an ascetically pleasing presentation display frame 10. It is to be noted that any suitable item, such as a memento or similar can be displayed in the single picture display compartment, such as a photograph, whereas any suitable information can be displayed dynamically in the dynamic display.

The display frame 10 also includes a wall mounting device(not illustrated) located on the rear or wall side 29 of the housing 12 for assisting in mounting the frame on a wall or other supporting substrate. The wall mounting device typically comprises a hook, string or wire which can be mounted on a corresponding hook or hanging device attached or mounted on the wall so that the display frame 10 can be hung on a wall, such as for example, the string being suspended from the hook.

The display frame 10 is arranged so that a memento, in this particular embodiment a flat object such as a picture, photograph, compact disc or the like can be H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818 .doc 22/05/06 20 inserted into the static picture display compartment 14 behind a glass pane 28. The DVD player 16 forming the dynamic display can then be used to play a recording via the screen 17 related to the object. Loud speakers (not shown) are provided within the frame, such as for example, being integral with the frame or attached to the frame to allow reproduction of sound for the optional audio parts of the DVD recording. The speakers can be located at the front of the DVD player 16 adjacent to the screen 17, at the sides of the frame 10 at the border 26, on the wall side 29 of the frame 10 or the like. The speakers may be remote speakers, located apart from the frame, such as for example, mounted on another part of the wall or on stands or the like, and connected to the frame by suitable audio cables, low power transmitters or the like.

The DVD disc 18 containing the recorded information is inserted into the rectangular housing 12 through lower slot 20 situated on the underside of 21 of the housing 12, in the center of the lower framing border 27. This underside location 21 is substantially concealed when the item is mounted in a wall, as the viewer tends only to focus on the inner items within the frame 10 and not on the details of the border 26. The DVD player 16 can then be turned on and operated using either the controls on the front of the frame 22 or by using a remote control 24.

The DVD player 16 with display 17 are integrally constructed with the frame in this embodiment and therefore the DVD player 16 cannot be removed from the housing 12 as a separate unit.

This embodiment of the display frame 10 is particularly H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 21 advantageous when used to display pictures from racing events such as horse racing, motor sports, boat racing or the like. In this respect, a picture of the horse, car, boat crossing the finishing line can be taken and then placed in the picture display compartment 14. A recording of the race can also be taken or obtained and placed in the DVD player 16. The user can therefore replay the race and the winning moment for themselves or to show the race to others using the display frame 10. The combination of the static picture and dynamic visual and/or audio presentation from the DVD player acts to remind the owner of the display frame 10 of the special event represented by the picture and recording and also allows them to share the experience and explain the significance of the race with others.

Figure 2 illustrates another particular embodiment of the display frame 40 of the present invention, consisting of a rectangular display housing 42 having a single picture display compartment 14 located in a top portion of the housing 42 and a recess 48 located in a bottom portion of the housing 42 for locating a DVD player 44 with display Again, the display frame 40 is arranged so that a memento, in this case a picture or photograph can be inserted into the picture display compartment 14 located behind a glass pane 28. The DVD player 44 can then be utilized to play a recording relating to the picture via the screen Again, the display frame 40 also includes a wall mounting device (not illustrated) located on the rear or wall side 29 of the display frame 40. The wall mounting device H: \wendys\keep\Specification\Mut iredia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 22 Q)typically comprises a hook, string or wire which can be >mounted on a corresponding hook or hanging device attached or mounted on the wall so that the display frame 40 can be hung on a wall.

Unlike the embodiment shown in figure 1, the DVD player 44 is constructed as a separate unit to the frame and is removable from the recess 48 in the display frame used to O house the player 44 and screen 45. This allows the user to take the DVD player 44 and/or screen 45 away for use, repair, exchange or the like without having to move or dismount the display frame 40 from the location it is situated on the wall. Although a hinged flap in the frame is shown in Figure 2, it is to be noted that other alternatives are possible, such as for example, having a hinged cover or lid located on the rear of the frame to permit ready insertion and removal of the DVD player when the lid or cover is opened.

The DVD disc 18 containing the recording is inserted into the DVD player 44 when the DVD player 44 is located outside of the recess 48. The player can then be programmed to play the recording at set intervals or left off to be activated by a user when insitu within the display frame 42. The DVD player 44 with loaded disc is then inserted through lower slot 47 situated on the underside of 21 of the display frame 42. The lower slot 47 constitutes the entire width of the bottom of the display frame 40, with the lower portion of the border 26 being hinged to form a flap 47. The flap 47 can be moved to an open position, as shown in figure 2, to insert or remove the DVD player 44 and then closed to conceal the slot 47 opening to the recess 48. In this embodiment, the static C-i display can be located under glass or clear plastic sheet, c-i whilst the DVD player is not covered by a pane of glass or transparent plastic but is open or exposed to allow operation of the DVD by manipulating the controls of the

DVD.

The display frame 40 shown in figure 2 also includes a series of input and output connections 52 located on the lower right side of the frame 40, in a recess portion of the border 26. The input and output connection leads are connected to the DVD player 44 of the display frame In this instance, the input and output connections 52 would have internal connections within the housing 42 which plug into corresponding connections in the stand alone DVD player 44 of the display frame 40. However, in the case of a integral DVD player unit 16, which is built into the frame 40, such as illustrated in figure 1, the input and output connections 52 would be permanently integrated into the side of the unit and permanently connected to the DVD circuits in the frame 10. In the illustrated frame (figure 2) the input and output connections 52 are exposed, having no means of concealment. It is understood however, that these input and output connections 52 could be covered using a flap, slidable panel, plug etc in order to give the frame 40 a more aesthetically pleasing aspect.

The pictures in the picture display compartment 14 of the display frame 10 can be interconnected to the DVD player 16 by way of an activation device.

H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 24 Figure 2A illustrates a further embodiment of the display from 40A in which a stand alone DVD player 44 is inserted in to a recess 48 in the housing 42. The configuration is very similar to that discussed for the embodiment illustrated in Figure 2, except that the flap 47A is attached to the housing 42 at the left hand side of the frame 40A by means of a hinge, pivot or the like. The DVD player 44 is therefore inserted into the recess by attaching or otherwise sitting the DVD player 44 on flap 47A and moving the DVD player 44 and flap 47A arrangement into a closed position where flap 47A closes over opening 47.

In Figure 3, the activation device comprises a series of buttons 22 located on the visible front face 60 of the DVD player 16. The buttons 22 are numbered from 1 to 7 and when depressed play different recordings related to the object or picture displayed in the picture display compartment 14 of the display frame 10. One example of a use of this display frame 10 is a use in relation to racing. For example, a picture of a horse winning a race is placed in the picture display compartment 14 of the display frame 10. The various buttons 1 to 7 can be used to play different races that the horse has won over the years on the DVD player 16. Similarly, the picture could be of an actor, and the various buttons 1 to 7 can be used to play extracts from different movies on the DVD player 16 that the actor has starred in over the years.

Figure 4 illustrates a different form of the connection between pictures displayed in the picture display compartment 14 of the display frame 60 and the DVD player H:\wendys\keep\Specifications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 25 16. In this embodiment, each of the separate pictures in the picture display compartment 14 of the display frame are connected to the DVD player 16 by way of an activation device located behind each of the four pictures 62A, 62B, 62C and 62D. The activation device is in the form of a button (not illustrated), which when depressed causes a particular recording to be played on the DVD player 16.

Therefore, in use, a user depresses one of the pictures 62A, 62B, 62C and 62D to activate the recording specific to that picture 62A, 62B, 62C or 62D. It is possible that if the picture is depressed more than once, a different recording corresponding to a sequence or the number of times the picture is pushed is played.

One example of a use of this display frame 60 is a use in relation to football matches. For example, a picture of four different key incidents or quarters from a football game can be placed in each of the picture display compartments 62A, 62B, 62C and 62D of the display frame 60. Behind each of these pictures are buttons 1 to 4, which rest against the picture and any backboard placed thereon. Each of the respective buttons are linked to a recording on the DVD player 16 which relates to the four different key incidents shown in the pictures. A person can then press a picture to replay that incident from or quarter of the football game in the screen 17 of the DVD player 16.

Figure 5 illustrates a yet another form of the interconnected between the picture displayed in the picture display compartment 14 of the display frame 70 and the DVD player 16 and screen 17 combination. In this embodiment, each of the separate pictures 72 in the H:\wendy\keep\Speciications\Multimedia Display Frame Innovation P60818.doc 22/05/06 26 picture display compartment 14 of the display frame 60 are connected to the DVD player 16 by way of a remote control device 74 having a series of buttons 76 which are numbered to correspond to the number placed on the individual pictures 72 displayed in the picture display compartment 14. The buttons 22 are numbered from 1 to 6 and when depressed play different recordings related to the corresponding object or picture 72 displayed in the picture display compartment 14 of the display frame Therefore, in use, a user looks at the various pictures 72 and selects the number (1 to 6) corresponding to the picture 70 that they wish to know more detail about. The user then depresses the corresponding button 76 having the same number as the picture on the remote control 74 to activate the recording specific to that picture 72.

Again, it is possible that if the button 76 is depressed more than once, a different recording corresponding to a sequence or the number of times the button 76 is pushed is played.

One example of a use of this display frame 60 is in relation to a television program or movie. For example, a picture of six different key actors from a television program can be placed in each of the respective picture display compartments 14 of the picture frame 70. A recording of a special or quintessential moment in the television program featuring that actor can then be entered into the DVD player 16 and keyed to the corresponding numbered button on the remote control 74. A user can then press the various buttons 76 on the remote control 74 to play the special or quintessential moment selected for that actor.

These compartments 81 can be connected to the DVD player 16 using the various techniques discussed above.

The foregoing described display frames can be constructed of any materials suitable for mounting and display of mementos. For example, the frame could comprise a combination of molded plastic, timber, glass and metal.

In another embodiment, the frame is composed entirely of plastic.

Those skilled in the art will appreciate that the invention described herein is susceptible to variations and modifications other than those specifically described.

It is understood that the invention includes all such variations and modifications which fall within the spirit and scope.

It will be clearly understood that, although a number of prior art publications are referred to herein, this reference does not constitute an admission that any of these documents forms part of the common general knowledge in the art, in Australia or in any other country.

1. 2. A display package according to claim 1 in which the second display is a visual and/or audio display including a multimedia display, DVD player, audio tape player, or other device for producing an audio and/or visual display and the static display is a photograph, item, object.
2. 3. A display package according to any preceding claim in which the package is in the form of a frame for containing a memento and a multimedia display device in which the photograph is located at one location within the frame and the DVD player is located at another place within the frame.

A display package according to any preceding claim further comprising a moulded tray or insert dividing the interior of the display package into one or more compartments in which the static display is located in a first compartment and the dynamic display is located in a second compartment.
