Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT IMPROVED COMBINATION BALL RUDDER TOY.
The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: COMS ID No: SBMI-01620278 Received by IP Australia: Time 21:54 Date 2005-09-28 2e-SEP-2005 19:51 REN HOTEL 28-EP-00519:1 RN HTEL+852 2369 9387 P.07 IMRVDCMIAINBL0 UDRTY 0 00 Combination ball and rudder toys are known and common within the industry and many variations have been invented.
0 The purpose of a combination ball and rudder toy is to propel the ball in a singular direction without the ball rotating end over end. The rudder or tail is sometimes o used as a lever to -propel the ball futher and faster. The catcher of the ball and rudder toy will always receive the ball in hantd first with the tail or rudder trailing.
This is an important feature of these types of ball gamnes. Even when the toy is thrown had against a wall. it will turn with the rudder trailing and. can be caght easily. While this game is enjoyable the ball is no longer a ball and will not react as a normnal ball when dropped onto the ground. The rudder or tail interferes with the bounce. It is this problem the inventor has addressed.
The combination ball and rudder toy in accordance with this invention has a special tail made from light weight hair or material that is within a defined weight 1$ ratio to the bail. It has be found that the weight of the rudder in relation to the bal must be within a deter-mined limit to make the ball perform both functions of being a good bouncing ball and still retain the characteristics of a ball and rudder toy.

)The preferred weight ratio to achieve both the functions of being a good bouncing O0 00 ball and a rudder return ball has been found to be in a ratio of 18,5g the ball weight to rudder weight ratio is outside the limits of 18.5g 02g and 0 18.5g to 1.6g one of the desired functions of the invention is impeded. At the 00 upper range of rudder weight, the balls bouncing performance declines. At the t lower rudder weight range it ceases to be an effective trailing rudder.
0 SA further improvement of this combination ball and rudder toy is that the rudder forms part of the human anatomy, either hair on the head, or a body, when the ball is featured as the head. The body appendages allows designers to make multiple collectible features for this improved combination ball and rudder toy.
The invention may be better understood with references to the illustrations of the embodiments of the invention where; Figure 1 is a front and side elevation of the combination ball and rudder toy invention.
Figure 2 is a trajectory illustration of how other combination bal and rudder toys return off a surface when propelled by force.
Figure 3 is a trajectory illustration of how other combination ball and rudder toys return off a surface when propelled with minimal force.
Figure 4 is a trajectory illustration of how the defined weight ratio combination ball and rudder toy returns offa surface when propelled with minimal force.
Figure 5 shows a design of a combination ball and rudder toy with human appendages.
COMS ID No: SBMI-01620278 Received by IP Australia: Time 21:54 Date 2005-09-28 28-SEP-205 19:52 REN HOTEL +852 2369 9387 P.09 0 c 3 0^ CD1 In figure 1 the improved combination ball and rudder toy is illustrated 00 showing the ball I to represent a head and the rudder 2 to represent hair on the head. The ball 1 and rudder 2 has a preferred weight ratio of 18.Sgrams 0 0,5grams where the ball 1 represents 1 8.Sgrams and the rudder 2 represents 00 0,5grams. The toy still performs satisfactorily within a range of between t' 18.5grams- 0.2grams and 18.5grams- 1.6grams.
0 0 Cxl In figure 2 a trajectory illustration is shown of how other 3 combination ball and rudder toys return, when force is used to propel the toy off a surface 4. The other 3 rudder trails the ball I down and up off the surface 4. No bounce impediment is observed.
In figure 3 a trajectory illustration is shown of how other 3 combination ball and rudder toys return when minimal 5 force is used to propel the toy off a surface 4.
The other 3 rudder trails the ball down but impedes the up bounce.
In figure 4 a trajectory illustration of how the improved combination ball and rudder toy returns when minimal 5 force is used to propel the toy off a surface 4.
The rudder 2 trails the ball down and up unimpeded because of the weight ratio.
In figure 5 an alternate design featuring body appendages 6 as the rudder is shown. The body appendages 6 trail the ball I performing the tri function of being a good bouncing ball, a good ball with trailing rudder, and a collectible toy.
