PATENT
COMPACT PERSONAL HYGIENE APPLIANCE The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing, as we know it:
COMMERCIAL-IN-CONFIDENCE
COMMERCIAL-IN-CONFIDENCE
2 COMPACT PERSONAL HYGIENE APPLIANCE For many years now the condition of many public toilets has been considered less than acceptable to many users. This may be due to the actions/numbers of individuals using the facilities. This invention has been specifically designed to be small enough to fit into a handbag or pocket and allow people to use public bathroom facilities by providing individuals with hygienic toilet facilities.
A Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance in accordance with this invention comprises of a plastic cylinder with a removable cap at one end, a reservoir for the storage of disinfectant/cleaning agent and the applicator, as well as a storage area for toilet paper. Toilet paper would be held on a miniature toilet roll inside the cylinder. The cylinder will have a cut out to allow the toilet paper to be accessed and an internal shaft for the miniature toilet roll to be fitted to. This cut out will have a wider cross section in the middle to facilitate access to the toilet paper. The first initial sheet is attached to a hand wipe sachet that is attached to the cylinder by perforations to the permanent instructions/safety label.
The cap will be watertight and be of the push on/pull of type, with a ridge of some description to ensure the contents are protected until they are required. The disinfectant/cleaning agent applicator is of the hemispherical sponge type, and would be activated by pushing down on the sponge. This would pierce a seal protecting the disinfectant/cleaning agent. The toilet sheets will be attached to a miniature toilet roll and stored in the cylinder. The first few could then be used to wipe off the disinfectant/cleaning agent, as well as for personal use. The hand wipe towel could be used after cleaning the toilet seat, or when finished with the ablutions if no hand cleaning products are present.
A further application could be a re-useable Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance where the owner could replace both the disinfectant/cleaning agent and the toilet roll/hand wipe sachet. This would require the bottom of the cylinder to be removable to allow access to the toilet roll. The used toilet roll could then be removed, and a new one with a hand wipe sachet attached could be inserted. The cylinder would then require the cut out to go fully to the bottom of the cylinder. The disinfectant/cleaning agent could also be in a removable bottle. This could again be removed, and a new one inserted.
The cylinder would most likely be made from flexible hard plastic (possibly recycled), although it could be made from aluminium or steel. The toilet roll would be made from cardboard or plastic, whilst the disinfectant/cleaning agent container (if reusable) could also be made from plastic/aluminium or steel. Otherwise, this container would be an integral part of the cylinder. The cap would be made from plastic. The toilet paper, disinfectant/cleaning agent would be supplied by an appropriate supplier and fitted/filled by the manufacturer.

Claims (4)

1. A Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance is a cylindrical container with 2 compartments and a cap for the top. The upper compartment is filled with disinfectant/cleaning agent. The lower compartment has a rectangular cut-out with a slight widening in the middle and has a miniature toilet roll and holder installed on a small shaft situated on the bottom of the cylinder. The toilet paper will protrude from the rectangular cut-out, and the first sheet will be attached to a hand wipe sachet which is attached to the outside of the cylinder. The disinfectant/cleaning agent is activated by removal of the cap and pushing down on the sponge applicator. The cap can then be replaced and the Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance is disposed of at the end of utilisation of the toilet. The cylinder is to be made of plastic, aluminium or steel. The Toilet roll holder is to be made of plastic, aluminium or steel.
2. A reusable Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance is a cylindrical container with 2 compartments and a cap for the top. The upper compartment has a replaceable plastic container that fits into the compartment and is filled with disinfectant/cleaning agent. The lower compartment has a rectangular cut-out with a slight widening in the middle and has a miniature toilet roll and holder installed on a small shaft situated on the bottom of the cylinder which has a screw thread. This allows the bottom to be removed, and a new toilet roll inserted. The toilet paper will protrude from the rectangular cut-out, and will be attached to a hand wipe sachet which is attached to the outside of the cylinder. The disinfectant/cleaning agent is activated by removal of the cap and pushing down on the sponge applicator. The cap can then be replaced and the Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance stored in handbag/pocket.
3. A Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance according to any claims 1 and 2 wherein the disinfectant/cleaning agent is applied using a pressurised spray device in place of the applicator.
4. A Compact Personal Hygiene Appliance substantially as herein before described with reference to figures 1 3 of the accompanying drawings. CORCORAN AND WESTENBERG CONCEPTS 15 Aug Gerard Marinus Anthony Westenberg 28 Aug Michael Ian Corcoran COMMERCIAL-IN-CONFIDENCE
