ORIGINAL
COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Invention Title: Name of Applicant: Actual Inventor(s): Address for service: Water Feature Reservior Chemkay Limited Kyle Nelson Baker WRAY ASSOCIATES Level 4, The Quadrant 1 William Street Perth, WA 6000 Attorney code: WR Details of Associated Provisional Application No(s): The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me:- -2- O"Water Feature Reservoir" SField of the Invention 00 This invention relates to a reservoir which can be used with a water feature.
n Background Water features can be provided in a number of locations both indoors and Ooutdoors and for decorative and ambience purposes. A difficulty with such water N features relates to their maintenance and one of the principal causes for the difficulties relates to the degree of evaporation and in circumstances where the water feature involves running water the evaporation loss can be quite significant. Furthermore, due to environmental conditions the water can be subject to contamination and can become subject to algal growth. For this reason it is appropriate to minimise the exposure of the water. In addition in indoor environments the presence of a water feature creates the potential for damage to the surroundings as a result of spillage or splashing. In addition in some circumstances there is a need for a water feature having running water but it is inappropriate to have a pond Disclosure of the Invention Accordingly the invention resides in a water feature reservoir comprising a closed housing having an upper wall, a lower wall and a side wall, the upper wall formed with a depression, at least one aperture formed in the upper wall in the region of the depression, at least one support located between the inner faces of the upper and lower walls and spaced inwardly from the side walls and an opening providing access into the interior of the housing.
According to a preferred feature of the invention the opening is dimensioned to enable the supports into and removed from the interior of the housing.
-3- O According to a preferred feature of the invention the housing is moulded a single N integral element.
According to a preferred feature of the invention the faces of the upper and lower 00
O
walls are formed with a set of opposed formations which are adapted to receive the respective ends of the supports. According to one embodiment the supports comprise tubular elements and the formations are of complementary configuration to the ends.
The invention will be more fully understood in light of the following description of several specific embodiment.
Brief Description of the Drawings The description is made with reference to the accompanying drawings of which: Figure 1 is a plan view of a housing according to the first embodiment; Figure 2 is a sectional perspective view of the housing according to the first embodiment along line 2-2 of Figure 1; and Figure 3 is an underneath isometric view of the first embodiment.
Detailed Description of Specific Embodiments The first embodiment is directed to a reservoir which can be utilised with a water feature. The reservoir as shown at Figures 1, 2 and 3 comprises a housing 11 which is formed of a suitable opaque plastics material and which is formed as a single integral element by rotation-moulding or a like technique. The housing has a generally cubic form and comprises an upper wall 13, a lower wall 15 and four side walls 17. The side walls 15 are formed such that their outer face has a decorative finish, while the lower wall is formed to provide a outer raised perimeter 19 and a depressed central area 21. The upper wall defines a depression 23 which is bounded by a raised lip 25 which extends around the -4- O perimeter of the upper wall 15. The centre of the upper wall is provided with a N drainage aperture 27.
In order to provide support between the upper wall and the lower wall 13 and 00 a set of post like supports 29 are located within the housing between the inner faces of the upper and lower walls 13 and 15. In this regard the upper and lower walls 13 and 15 are each formed with a set of opposed symmetrically located first and second formations 31 and 33 respectively which of a circular profile which is complementary to the ends of the supports 29. The first formations 31 Son the upper wall extend inwardly from the inner face of the upper wall and are S 10 configured to be received within the adjacent end of the supports. The second formations 33 on the lower wall extend outwardly from the outer face of the lower wall to provide a depression on the inner face which is configured to receive the adjacent end of the supports while, the lowermost face of the second formations are generally co-planar with the lower face of the outer raised perimeter 19.
Because of the configuration of the first and second formations the respective ends of the supports will be received over the formations to be positively located into position between the inner faces of the upper and lower walls.
In order to enable the supports to be located with the housing an access opening is provided in the upper wall adjacent one corner and the opening is associated with a closure 37. The opening is dimensioned to enable a support 29 to be inserted into the interior of the housing and for it to be manipulated to be located in position with a pair of opposed first and second formations on the upper and lower walls 13 and The presence of the supports 29 provides support between the upper and lower walls and since the second formations 33 will be supported from the ground or floor the supports enable the upper wall to be supported from the ground or floor.
This then enables the upper wall of the housing of the housing to support decorative materials such as pebbles or the like and or features that may be located on the upper wall in order to enhance the appearance and function of the water feature.
O As a result of the configuration of the housing and the nature of the material of N which the housing is formed the housing is able to accommodate a water feature whilst minimising the degree of exposure of the volume of water accommodated by the housing to the elements. This serves to enable suitable treatment agents to be added to the water to prevent the formation of algae, slimes and the like and to enable those materials to the retained within the water.
SAccording to a second embodiment of the invention the housing is formed of a number of components that can be sealingly inter-engaged to close the housing Swhereby the supports are located in position during fabrication.
According to further embodiments of the invention the housing can have a rectangular prismatic shape or a cylindrical shape or such other shape as desired.
Throughout the specification, unless the context requires otherwise, the word "comprise" or variations such as "comprises" or "comprising", will be understood to imply the inclusion of a stated integer or group of integers but not the exclusion of any other integer or group of integers.
