BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS Embodiments of the present invention will now be .described with reference to the accompanying drawings ci S wherein: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of a container with recess and promotional material prior to assembly, Figure 2 is a cross sectioned side view of the promotional material of Fig. 1, Figure 3 is an elevation view of the container of Fig.
1, assembled prior to use.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMODIMENTS With reference to Fig. 1, a container in the form of a blow-moulded bottle 10 is adapted to releasably retain promotional material in the form of media 11.
Bottle 10 is provided with a recess 12 disposed along a portion of a side of bottle 10. Recess 12 forms a generally rectangular depression 14 relative to the curved outer surface 16 of bottle 10, with the rear wall of the recess forming a flat surface 18.
Centrally positioned in depression 14 is a retaining member 20 projecting outwardly from flat surface 18.
COMS ID No: SBMI-01 115336 Received by IP Australia: Time 19:02 Date 2005-02-10 Feb. 2005 19:04 Wall igton-Dummer Sydney No -8759 P 8 6 SA Retaining member 20 is integral with the blow-moulded walls C- of the bottle and flat surface 18 and is shaped so as to Sreleasably retain media 11 by aperture 22.
o Retaining member 20 may take a number of forms familiar to those skilled in the relevant art of CD and DVD retaining structures. Thus for example, retaining member Smay comprise a segmented bollard-like structure (not shown), sufficiently resiliently deformable for aperture 22 o to pass over the head of the bollard and be retained by the urging outwardly of the head.
With reference to Figs. 1 and 2, media 11 in a first preferred embodiment, comprises a generally rectangular card 24 of a size coextensive with the flat surface 18 of depression 14, and with central aperture 22 sized to releasably attach to retaining member 20. A central raised portion of card 24 is in the form of a disc 26 truncated at sides 28. The diameter of disc 26 is adapted for.
rotation in the tray of a CD or DVD player and may be for media provided with a smaller bottle or 120mm for a large bottle.
Once media 11 has been attached to bottle 10 at the manufacturing stage, a label 15 is applied to at least a portion of the outer surface 16 of bottle 10 as shown in Fig. 3, sufficient to cover recess 12 so as to assist in retaining and protecting media 11 during storage, transport and prior to use. Label 15 is structured to be readily COMS ID No: SBMI-01115338 Received by IP Australia: Time 19:02 Date 2005-02-10 lOFeb. 2005 19:04 Wa Iingon-Du~mer Sydney No,8759 P. 9 -7- S openable by peeling overlapping portions of the label by means of pull tab 17. Label 15 is preferably provided with indicia alerting a potential purchaser of the bottle of the o presence of the media hidden behind the label.
Disc 26 and card 24 may be formed intergrally of the same material as indicated in Fig, 2, or alternatively, ci disc 26 may be laminated to card 24. In either case, the material of disc 26 is adapted for receiving digitally 0 oencoded promotional data in the circular portion of the ci disc defined by the limits of truncated sides 28.
Promotional data may take any of a number of formats including a selected single promoting a new music album, or an interactive game for play on a computer, for example.
Alternatively, the data may advertise the services or products of a sponsoring organization or retailer.
In addition to the digitally encoded promotional data on the disc potion 26 of the media, indicia of a promotional nature may be printed both on the disc portion and on the obverse face 30 of the card 24. Such indicia may include collectable images of sports stars and other celebrities for example.
The above describes only some embodiments of the present invention and modifications, obvious to those skilled in the art, can be made thereto without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
