Description

AUSTRALIA
(Patents Act 1990) COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT HEAVY DUTY EXHAUST POWERED TYRE BEAD SEATER The following statement is a full description of this invention including the best method of performing it Sknown to us...
i j Page 1 S HEAVY DUTY EXHAUST POWERED t TYRE BEAD SEATER
O
S Setting a tubeless tyre bead on a rim, without the use of a high volume air compressor, has always been a very difficult and often impossible task. This invention achieves the goal of setting the tyre bead on the bead channel of the rim, very quickly, effectively, simply and safely by utilising the high volume low pressure exhaust gasses of an internal combustion engine, augmented by an ad- S ditional gas supply to complete the task when exhaust gas pressure alone is insufficient.
O
S A flexible rubber or plastic cone which allows fitting by hand to a wide array of exhaust pipe styles, shapes, and diameters, is connected to a non return valve, which is connected to a flexible gas tight hose, terminating at a Schrader valve inflation fitting, and with a gas supply port fitted to the gas tight hose between the non return valve and the Schrader valve inflation fitting. The device allows for the efficient transfer of high volume, low pressure exhaust gas into the tyre causing the tyre bead to contact the rim. Once the tyre contacts the rim and tyre pressure exceeds exhaust pressure the non return valve activates and a seamless transfer from low pressure to high pressure gas supply occurs. In this fashion, the device facilitates the sealing of the tubeless tyre bead on the rim once the tyre and tubeless valve have been fitted to the rim.

Claims (4)

1. An exhaust powered tyre bead seater comprising, a flexible rubber or plas- tic cone which allows fitting by hand to a vwide array of exhaust pipe styles, shapes, and diameters. S
2. The flexible cone as claimed in 1. is connected to a gas tight flexible hose ,O with a non return valve, a gas supply port on the down stream side of the 00 o non return valve, and terminates in a Schrader valve inflation fitting. O
3. The device allows the utilisation of internal combustion exhaust gasses to seat the tubeless tyre on the bead channel of the rim. O
4. Where higher pressures are required to seat the bead, the non return valve Cl activates allowing the high pressure port to be utilised (additional gas source connected) to complete the seating process. The transition from low pressure exhaust gas to the high pressure system is seamless, automatic and requires no user intervention.
